Prefab hulls are being used + figures+ endurance scale was a joke someone made on 4chan I am hoping you're right. And I hope the Pearl has full sails like in the second movie. I don't like it if it has wrecked, damaged sails. And that Barbossa has a hat with hair piece. They did it with the new Eldorado Fortress. We want quality for our €330. And not a lazy Deathstar. People are complaining about it allready. €1000 and Lego being to greedy to put in the dual moulded c3po Quote
Mordarch Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Wow, I'm genuinely blown away, really excited to get a better look, but it looks great so far. It looks to me we'll be able to remove the bottom part of the hull to display it sitting on a flat surface like other pirate ships, but that's just a guess. Quote
SpacePolice89 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 It looks great! But where are the minifigs and the shooting cannons? Quote

That was my thought as well, but the more I look at it (especially given the entire cannon deck looks like what Marooned Marin did with his model & the fact there are no minifigs in sight on the cover art) the more I'm inclining to think it may just end up being a display model akin to Silent Mary. At least it does look fairly moddable from what I see, if TLG nailed the cabin the rest can be tweaked to one's liking. I'd also say, looking at the photo it really feels like there'll be lots of new decent techniques introduced as well, and that's always a plus. Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted August 2 Posted August 2 The name is 'Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship'?? Quote

I didn't even notice it looking through the details of the design, lol This better not be the official name on release, that'd be embarrassing. Even now it's sort of a red flag that makes me question TLG's actual dedication to the set, we're yet to see the detailed pics of interior & else – if this naming is anything to go by, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out they've paid as much attention to the insides as they did to the ship's freaking name Quote

It is a picture of the box with the cover art showing the ship on its display stand, but I just hope that's some pre-production draft or something. There's no way the "Black Pearl" would have some copyright on it or anything like that preventing it from being the official set name, right? Totally not in the case of TLG partnering with Disney, so it'd be baffling to have "Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship" as the official name for such a set, for the approximate price of $330 this naming gives off the vibes of buying some cheap Chinese knockoff, lol Also, just to throw a thought on the table: if there's a chance Disney had the promotion of PotC-6 in mind with this set – this naming choice could straight up turn out to be a failure (not that I personally wouldn't consider it as such anyway). I'd guess no minifigs can be seen on the cover because it primarily is a display set & the entire focus is put on the build itself. Probably there would be an integrated option of converting it into a play set as indicated by the use of solid hulls, there honestly better be. Quote

We’ve had multiple minifig lists even from different sources, so there’s no way the leakers could have been this wrong Icons sets not showing the minifigs front and center isn’t out of the ordinary. The build itself looks fantastic, but the name is just stupid. What’s wrong with “Black Pearl”? Or maybe they just wanted Jack’s name in the set for search optimisation Edit: What am I saying, some of the minifigs have actually leaked a week or two ago! I need some sleep. Admiral Bejaune Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I think it looks good for a Lego set. If the hull splits at the waterline, it would be like the builder supersicks design from a few years ago. The cannon on the set also looks like some recent brick built cannon I’ve seen on here. Lego is watching… Quote
Mordarch Posted August 3 Posted August 3 (edited) Some more thoughts after looking at it some more: I noticed is that they're using those rubber pieces as rigging again, as they've done with most recent ship sets they released. I might buy some black droid arms to add the steps to make it more complete. The bottom of the lower sails are connected to the rigging instead of being attached to another beam, which is more accurate. It should actually be attached to the back of the ship via rigging, but it's a good alternative. Having to much rigging would overcrowd the set I feel. We get the angled sails, even between the two main masts, Ideally we should've gotten two for the front and two for the middle, but it's not a big deal to me. The front sail looks a bit too straight to me, I'd rather they put a slight curve in the bottom. I do wonder if it might look a little bit short, but I'll only be able to judge when I see the full set. The lower gunports seem to have brickbuilt covers, which looks interesting to me, especially when the upper ports near the back use the regular flag pieces. Either it's just for detail, to make them more stand out when opened or there's a hidden mechanic to open and close the gunports and to extend the guns out. I'm considering looking for something to replace the little baby chicken item from the masthead, I'm not sure it'll look great, it jumps out a bit too much for me. Judging by the minifig wheel, I'm thinking the figures will fit decently on the ship, they might look a bit bigger than they ought to, but making it true minifig scale would make it too big for a LEGO set of this price. They'd have to ask Millenium Fallcon prices and it might be way too difficult to display. As for the name, I think at this point we can say that the name is propably just a misguided attempt from the marketing team to make it more "searchable", even though I think the name Black Pearl is just as iconic as Jack Sparrow. All in all it's a good first impression with some minor nitpicks so far, it'll be interesting to see how they did the back of the ship, there's lots of opportunity for detail and intere"sting building techniques, I'm excited to see what they did there. I'm guessing the official release might not be too far out now, usually these leakers reveal the best look at the set shortly before LEGO does, or forces them to finally reveal it themselves. EDIT: We also just got a picture of the figures on the box. No Pintell or Ragetti interestingly, maybe they do come in a GWP? Barbossa has a new hat and hair combo piece, which looks good. (not the same as the Fortnite figure, but similar). The other figures all look great and we get a printed piece for the Aztec Gold (at least I hope it's printed, usually is when it's a piece like that), which I was hoping for. Edited August 3 by Mordarch new image of the figures Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Love the minifigs, but no Pintel and Ragetti?! Dangit Quote
Admiral Bejaune Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I’ve seen the leak but haven’t seen a new leak of the minifigs. I know a link cannot be put here, but could someone give me a hint on how to find it? Quote

I hope this isn't the end for the cannon piece. What will happen to it when the Creator pirate ship is discontinued? Edited August 3 by SpacePolice89 Quote

thewatchman Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I really like what I’m seeing, shape seems great and minis look fantastic. That said I just finished building the going merry and the rubber rigging sucks, so yeah, that’s a thing. Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Hmmm, I will wait with my judgement until more official pics come up… From what I see, I already hate this “newish” rigging and the angled upper gunports doesnt seem right to me… Fighs are good for what they are representing. Still price above 300 $ is riddiculous… Lego will lose the core of its fand if they continue to be that expensive, without making their sets 100% right. Quote
_R_R_ Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I really like what I see! It looks like they were heavily inspired by the original video game design and all the brilliant MOCs people have made over the years. The canon ports look a little bulky, maybe it's a kind of mechanism? The ports near the cabin look like regular flaps. Speaking of the cabin, I really hope they did it well, ideally we should be able to split the Pear sections to get access to the lower deck and the cabin. I hope the other side of the ship isn't exposed, that would be the only deal breaker for me. The minifigure selection is still a bit disappointing but I'm really happy an updated Barbossa is included, and I like Jack too, I have all the Jacks so I don't mind a bit of variety with the new one. I don't care about the name on the box, I'm just happy we're finally getting the ship we deserved back in 2011, it's going to be fun comparing the original Pearl to this one. Hopefully official images are revealed soon! Quote

_R_R_ Posted August 3 Posted August 3 1 hour ago, BrickBob Studpants said: A yellow box GWP with 4 new prints? No chance Maybe they’re included in a Flying Dutchman set if they ever tackle that one I hope not, making these very request figs GWP exclusives would be a crap move. Realistically I think this line will have the Pearl, the Dutchman and the Queen Anne's Revenge, I'd be surprised if they make any other ships or sets from other locations. So that doesn't leave a lot of room for Pintel and Ragetti, they could include them in the Flying Dutchman with a rowboat but I think that ship will be filled with Jone's crew and likely Will and Bootstrap, maybe a new Jack with coat and pirate Elizabeth if they base it off the third movie. So they could do a CMF line for PotC, so many cool figs they could do which wouldn't fit in with the other ships. Pintel, Ragetti, Tia Dalma, Norrington, Beckett, Governor Swan, Murtogg and Mullroy, Captain Teague, cursed skeleton versions of Jack and Barbossa and more versions of the main characters and crew members for all the ships. I just hope we do eventually get Pintel and Ragetti eventually. Quote
ForgedInLego Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Everything from the cannon ports up looks fantastic! But I am a little less impressed by the hull shaping, it just looks too flat for my eyes. It does look like the build switches to upside down construction at the waterline and I can see a gap there in the bow, so I do think there is a very strong chance the underwater part is removable. Or at least very easily moddable Quote
