icm Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 That may be the thought process, but it tends to backfire badly when the live-action version is bad. See M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Jonathan Frakes's 2004 live-action adaptation of Thunderbirds. Quote

See M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Jonathan Frakes's 2004 live-action adaptation of Thunderbirds. Glad to see theres still other Thunderbirds fans out there, we've actually came close to getting sets a couple of times. Still salty about the ideas rejection. I'm also cautious about a live action ninjago movie, I agree with the sentiment that it could be pretty bad but also we need to remember that the news is literally "the concept has been greenlit". There isn't a script yet, there likely isn't any story written, if there is its in the early concept stage. It may get cancelled. Im just personally looking forward to the reveal season beginning. Until there's more information, I regard these supposed live-action Lego films as no more real than any of the umpteen Star Wars films that have been announced and canceled since ~2016. This is most likely the case, at the absolute earliest the release date for them would be late 2026/2027. My hope is when they they say 'live-action Lego movie' they are just going to take the plot and transpose it onto a live-action setting as opposed to Legofying it like with the Minecraft movie recently. In essence it'd just be a Ninja movie with the plot of Ninjago. E.g. Ninjago actually just goes full live-action. I'm really curious about the other three live-action movies though as they'd likely need to be based on pre-existing brands or perhaps lean on other brands that Universal has access to. Not particularly a fan of the directors they've announced for the other films though. Quote
a guy from somewhere Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 Really wish the set reveals/leaks would hurry up now, I got my eye on some pretty good monkie kid deals that I wanna snag but I need to allocate budget for the next wave. From what I’ve seen though, I’m definitely getting the Forrest dragon, Zane titan mech and the spinners. Zane’s mini mech and the draconian village are also contenders, and I need to see more of the Arc dragon and the storm rider mech sets to be swayed. I don’t think I’ll get the chaos dragon unless the official pics really sway me, which is a shame because I want to support villain sets. Quote

In the end neither of them was the first, nor was it the last. In the end Barbie Movie is a comedy Movie, and while a Ninjago Movie will surely also have some elements of that, I doubt it will be one too. Also Lego and Universal signed the contract in 2020 so there is like no reason to think they are just doing it because the Barbie movie did well - especially since a Ninjago Movie will be aimed at kids, whereas Barbie Movie was clearly targeted towards adults. As for the Pharell Williams movie, that isn´t a Lego movie. It is a movie made in Lego style, but aside from that has not much to do with Lego - and I doubt many Lego Fans will watch it if they are not fans of Williams too. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Lego Minecraft Goat on Instagram was listing some cancelled sets, interestingly enough one of them was a Ninjago blister pack minifig sets with Island Lloyd, 2 keepers and Twitchy Tim. Quote

It was discussed at length on Twitter a while back I think, the set designer gave confirmation that it was gonna be a thing but got cancelled because of a bottle neck issue. On a somewhat related note, that cancelled Monkie kid set sounded pretty fun. Quote
Kaijumeister Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 The prospect of a live action Ninjago film is actually pretty awesome IMO, especially if the original showrunners are involved. As much as TLNM wasn’t too great, that initial 2017 tie-in wave still holds up as one of the best Lego subthemes ever produced. Great minifigures, brilliant builds, and extremely reasonable price points. Curious to see that Morro is back next year - story-wise I hope he doesn’t become an antagonist again as his redemption after Possession / Day of the Departed was great to see. Quote
YANITED Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Morro’s voice actor on the show has just said he’s coming back… all but confirms it 😄 Quote

Gonna be odd hearing the same voice from 2 different characters. Also hope he isn't evil. He left on good terms in DOTD (Will this also explain if The Departed Realm got merged?) Quote

I don't think having the same voice actor is an issue, though - no one's had an issue with Paul Dobson voicing Wu and Neuro/Flinklocke - though I don't think any combination of those two were ever in a scene together. But I trust the voice actor will be able to do differentiate the voices if they do share a scene (for all we know, Morro is just a cameo or in only in one episode - there's a lot in the air). Quote
Agent Kallus Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Technically 2024 not 2025. But great news the temple guard is coming to the magazine. Unfortunately he doesn't have the jetpack and it's the legacy magazine so he's packed in a double pack. He's paired with mech Zane. I don't have mech Zane but he's certainly less massable than the guard. Quote
mantax Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I can easly say that is the best legacy magazine that we ever had. While we did have minifigures from the D2Cs before, they were paired with a lot less interesting minifigures. I personally care more for Mech Zane, since he is the only Mech ninja that I'm missing, because his torso isn't on pick a brick. While I'll say that the set he comes in is great, however it's just yet another Kai mech which isn't too intersting for most fans of the theme. Quote

Shame he’s missing the shoulder armour but it’s just the dragon power armour right? Should be an easy enough fix. And I’ll always take more mech Zane’s, I love the white and blue colours. Works very well for a space faction. Quote
Rolyat24 Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 The Ras and Arin jet leaked on Instagram and wow! It’s such a fun color and shape! It looks like Ras is actually flying on a tiny dragon or creature of some sort that connects with the jet. The Arin minifigure looks new but it’s hard to make out any details behind the windshield. Quote
a guy from somewhere Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Certainly a set of all time Feels like a lot of clashing ideas here, which is the case for a lot of these new sets. Very excited for the official pictures though, I’m kinda miffed at the fact this is another low quality grainy single image whilst the other themes have been having decent reveals. Still, can’t complain. Hyped to see official pics for features and the like, and that moulded dragon head looks ready for a MOC! Quote
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I was excited to see this set and it doesn't disappoint! They improved Arin's color scheme from the buggy this year (no more sand green or purple!) and the build itself loos very substantial for $50. Ras' dragon looks very dinky, but I think that's because the Riyo head piece is oversized for the size of the dragon. I also wonder what the second cockpit underneath the dragon is for, maybe there's another craft that can separate out? That would give the 2 sets of wings a practical use. I'm very surprised to see Ras be a reuse of this summer's minifig, but I'm super glad since I didn't get either of the sets he comes in. Arin looks to be new and different from the one in the chaos dragon, which is great. Only getting three figs is a bummer though, and has me worried Zarkt will be exclusive to the arc dragon. Can't wait to see more images! Quote
mantax Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 From the first impresions the Ras and Arin's storm jet looks really great, but I have some issues with it. I'm kinda dissapointed in the fact that first we only knew that it was a Ras jet, and now it's mostly an Arin jet with just a small part of it being for Ras. I don't really have that much of an issue with that, since the jet does look absolutely stunning(the more I look at it the more I like it), and vehicles for the new ninja are always welcome. However what I dislike about it are the minifigures. We get the same Ras from the previous wave, he was only in massive sets so at least it's a great way to get him, but still I already own him so I don't really care for that personally. There is the new Arin, but he's got the mask that was also used on Sora in the Zane's Combo mech. And that makes the new 2 part mask exclusive to Thunderfang. A full dragonian is nice(since there have been so many sets with the one with mohawk who might not even be canon to the show), but I was expecting for there to be one of the Forbidden 5 or at least one more dragonian. Now Ras has the weird dragon glider thing, at first I thought that the large purple blade pices were connected to it, but they are actually connected to the 2nd pair of jet wings, so that looks even more funny. But I would say that in a good way, the main jet is just amazing, so I don't mind there being something a bit goofy. Also I expect that Ras can go to the 2nd cockpit, since he doesn't have his armor, and if he was only going to be on that dragon then he could have still had it. I would hope that the back section can also detach, and I do kinda see a way for that to work. Overall I'd say that this is the best looking set of the wave so far, however the minifigure selection just isn't great(especially at $50). With that we only haven't seen Lloyd's race car and The small Zane mech, and my only hope with that would be that there will be a new Wyldfyre, since she's been the exact same in the 2 previous waves(Arin and Sora at least got some different versions of their s1 outfits in the other waves). Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I really love the overall shape and colour scheme of the jet, although I wish Ras' aircraft was more integral to the design. It just feels awkwardly attached now. The minifigures aren't particularly interesting too—two repeats and a new Arin variant. Still, I can't wait to see the full images of those sets. Should be a little over two weeks now. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 They're getting the most out of the young riy head but I don't mind. The mile morales version actually doesn't look too overtly him so it might still make for a decent dragon. I like this set more than I expected to, but I probably won't get it. Quote
