2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]

Its perfectly fine that you see it that way, and like KKI… I dont like it now, and I didnt like it back then… Tje sets had horrible builds, meh figures, but some cool accesories such as kettlehelm or some torso prints. Thats about it. For me. If we talking “classic” I mean sets from 1989, 1990, 1992… even Fright Knights were too cartoony for me. But I respect that Lego wanted to bring something new. Classic castle for me ends with 1995 Royal Knights. 
 

Then there is a huge nothing, then Fantasy Era in 2007 and then Castle revival in 2013.

I guess it depends on when you are born and what Lego you do remember from your childhood, but I am very in line with you on this 
For me Castle started for real in 1984 when the horse was introduced, then it peaked 1987-88 with forestmen, black knights and bardings. Then started go downhill in 1993 and hit rock bottom in the early 2000. Out of the blue in 2007 back on track before it peaked in 2011 with mill village raid and then disappeared a couple of years later

For me it's almost the same except that I like the Dragon Knights and Royal Knights and regard them as quality subthemes. Fright Knights is the first Castle subtheme I regard as not so good and the start of the downfall of Castle. Knights Kingdom 1 and 2 were the low point.

Classic castle started in 1984 for me but I did get my first castle sets in 1986. 

I agree with Fright Knights. Too cartoony. Ugly sets. 

Dragon Masters were my last castle faction I have sets from. After that my dark age began and videos games took over. Playstation 1!

Hard agree with this with the exception of a few sets.

 I loved the fantasy era skeleton boat attack on the harbour.

but mill village was the best return.

To most of us, we will be willing to wait.  But there is enough sway with sales/promotions to get people on the fence to pull the trigger on big sets like the gumball machine.  Hell, Prime day was enough for me to finally get Medieval Town Square even though I've been on the fence since it was announced.

In the end all those parts would have been sold out so fast that most of us wouldn´t have had a chance to order them anyways, so I am fine with waiting longer too - even if that means in January it will be the same story with them beeing sold out very fast, but as long as I am able to order them before they retire...

And in the end we shouldn´t forget that if the sets aren´t selling anymore because everyone is just cherry-picking the desired parts we won´t get such sets anymore - and with that no parts either.

Wonder if this is why they put the torsos for the CS figures they part out only in BAM now so they're never easy to get many of

Well, you can basically buy as many figures as you want though. So I don´t think this is actually the case. It is possibly more the case they just want to include them, and might be harder to do so in a set, than in BAM, where you can just toss them in as a part.

3 at a time, for 10 quid, only able to be bought in physical LEGO stores, for only a few months before going forever tbf

Well, you can buy more than three though. And having them in a CMF, isn´t much different to be honest - at least in avaiability, of course you then have a complete figure, without the need to collect all parts from different sources. And that Lego stores aren´t near to everyone of course.

Yeah, the situations where a Space fig has been parted out in a CMF is only different in availability as CMFs are everywhere but my point was that either way here it doesn't go on PAB, which is something LEGO has clearly become aware of affecting desirable figures. So I wouldn't be surprised if they lean into BAM parts for more of this sorta thing in future

Well but on the other side we could get the orange spacemen parts from PaB, while they were never in an actual Set you could buy. Which they wouldn´t have needed to do.

They already set the precedent that GWPs get put on there well before the orange figures went up, no?

We had some parts that went into Pick a Brick, but most of the exclusive GWP parts didn´t. Though I would say lately we got more of them, like the red space baby parts for instace. But again, they wouldn´t have to do that.

True, they don't have to do any of this though as shown by them trying to not have the minifigure vending machine parts go up. It's really just us as fans trying to find rules to predict decisions but ultimately at any point any of it is fair game to be thrown out

Personally I have very little interest in microbuilds, they look nice, but are not for me..

Could it be the hint what we can expect next year as a minifig compatible set/sets? :) Or is it another way how Lego tortures Castle fans? 😒

Also not that interested in the micro builds. They're too small for decent play or meaningful display, but worst of all, because they're so small, the building techniques often feel basic as there's little room to do much of interest.

Probably the latter. The nano scale Grey Castle Insiders Reward from 2023 also never made it to minifig scale.

Yeah, kinda disappointed about that set aswell. I mean it looks good for what it is, but I doubt that is what people were looking for. Especially for Insiders.

It is probably Lego trowing us a bone, but there is no meat on the bone..
This looks like something we typically can use insider points on, but I never do. How hard is it to make a GWP carriage set? Classic Castle are full of them, 1 horse or cow, a small carriage, 1-2 minifigures; it's a no-brainer!

Lego mainline will not give us a substantial castle, but hopefully BDP will.
