lego.ryan Posted September 9, 2007 I'm starting work on my Isla Cruces MOC, and the only thing I have no idea how to make is the giant water wheel. Would anyone happen to have any ideas on how to do this? Any help would be appreciated. :-D
UniqueBuilder Posted September 9, 2007 Personally I'm quite fond of SirNadroj's technique: Pretty simple, but awesome! :)
lego.ryan Posted September 9, 2007 Personally I'm quite fond of SirNadroj's technique: Pretty simple, but awesome! :) Is there any way I could make it bigger? It needs to be able to have Jack, Norrington, and Will on it. If not, I may end up using that design in the end. :-/
Captain Green Hair Posted September 9, 2007 Does it need to be closed on the sides, or not??
lego.ryan Posted September 9, 2007 Does it need to be closed on the sides, or not?? Something as close to that as possible would be wonderful. Any ideas?
Corvus Posted September 9, 2007 I like the TheBrickster's method. It's fairly open.
Captain Green Hair Posted September 9, 2007 Yes, i have an idea, something out of an old idea book.... I'll get back to you somewhere thisweek, ok?
oo7 Posted September 9, 2007 Hmmm......it looks like Sir Nadroj and The Brickster have the same technique. ;-) Which isn't exactly new, it's been on Brickshelf for a while. Personally, I think the best bet is a whole lot of these pieces arranged in a circle. That's how this wheel was accomplished -
lego.ryan Posted September 9, 2007 I like the TheBrickster's method. It's fairly open. This might be my final method, seeing as I have the pieces for it. Yes, i have an idea, something out of an old idea book....I'll get back to you somewhere thisweek, ok? That'd be fine, I'm working on the landscaping and other parts of it right now. ;-) Hmmm......it looks like Sir Nadroj and The Brickster have the same technique. ;-) Which isn't exactly new, it's been on Brickshelf for a while. Personally, I think the best bet is a whole lot of these pieces arranged in a circle. That's how this wheel was accomplished - That'd be the most accurate one, but I don't have nearly enough of those pieces; and I'm saving money for The Office Season 3 and the new Family Guy DVDs. :-$
Tordenskjold Posted September 9, 2007 Something as close to that as possible would be wonderful. Any ideas? How about using tecnic for framing. and filling in with plates? some of the tecnic bricks are quite long so you should be able to get a good diameter for it. Scouty Posted September 10, 2007 Try using plates placed onto each other.
Landlubber Posted September 10, 2007 I'd use a bunch of these All clipped to one another in a circle. Then build a centre frame .

Capn Frank Posted September 13, 2007 Hey Mr. Ryan, You could try to make a water wheel using the same method to make round hulls discussed in the Round Hulls thread. Just a thought X-D P
lego.ryan Posted September 14, 2007 Hey Mr. Ryan,You could try to make a water wheel using the same method to make round hulls discussed in the Round Hulls thread. Just a thought X-D P I figured out that I have enough of these pieces: But if that doesn't work out that'll be my next option. Thanks for the idea! :-D
