Hello everyone! I am sharing the first episode of my Insectoids series, based on the lego theme of the same name. Before anyone mentions it I am aware that there are no Insectoids vehicles in it; this is a prologue to the main storyline. Please tell me what you think of this ;) I have made it in a way similar to 1950s Sci-fi films as the Insectoids theme always reminded me of those!

Hi all! Recently I cooked up something unusual. What happens when you put together the new and the old? Pieces and ideas, that is? I have never owned any of the droids or even been into Space sets and whatnot, so wasn't infatuated with these three classic buggers until I picked them up very recently. I also own UFO droids, but those aren't as charismatic or distinctive. By combining mostly vintage Lego pieces and sneaking in a few new ones, I made a custom "VHS" trio complete with printed stands to resemble the CMF series. One thing to note: times have changed, and so has the trio's purpose... First: the white Exploriens Droid. Enemies will not be walking - heavy hammer does the talking! Second: Insectoids Droid. The menacing cannon's electromagnetic, the enemies better be very athletic! Third: Spyrius Droid. Tracking foes with recon bot, slashing them with plasma sword! That's it, folks! Weaponizing the trio was not my aim, but it just so happened that everything fell into place this way. Cheers, and comments are welcome!

The following creations were built to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 1999 Lego Racers computer game. Pieces new and old have come together to form these newly revised versions of the 8 boss cars. Please enjoy! 1) Captain Redbeard As you can see, Captain Redbeard's new ride uses the microbuild of his ship from set #40290 as a base for this off-road beast of a racer. But it still retains the large exhausts and rear mounted pirate flag from his original car. The sails make this the tallest vehicle in the collection so far. .

I am now building my first proper Lego space scene, with Benny's Space Squad, some small classic space items I found at an exhibition, and two crater plates, which amazingly cost me only £12 total (the plates, that is)! However, I've lately decided I like the idea of giving them some aliens to interact with. I would like friendly aliens, as my scene is definitely built around exploration rather than conflict. I have lately developed a fascination with the unique Insectoids range from 1998. In Britain, the publicity portrayed them as evil alien invaders. Elsewhere, however, they were called Zotoxians (forgive any spelling error), and said to be the protagonists of the range. My question is, can the Zotoxians in the Insectoids range be friendly aliens, or do they have to be antagonists to humans, or at least conflict based?

This is the first proper Lego Space scene I have ever constructed. The display is centred around Classic Space, but I've added some later items and parts (mostly acquired second-hand) for interest. I found most of the Classic Space items and figures at an exhibition more than a year ago, but it was Benny's Space Squad that proved the impetus for doing this scene. The background is from a Klutz 'Lego Make Your Own Movie' book/kit. The base plate was a dark grey clone brand (Wilco Blox) plate until I found two slightly worn classic 'moon' plates on sale for just £6 each in a small independent shop. I quickly snapped up both! What do you think? Any comments or questions welcome.

Half spider, half firefly, the Insectoids Arachnoid Star Base (set 6977 from 1998) has to be one of the weirdest sets Lego ever produced. I found most of it in a bin of used Lego I bought. Although the original design is awkward, there are some nice printed parts and it has a goofy sort of charm, so I decided to modernize it. I've added suspension to the wheels, made the magnet arms retractable and more posable on ball joints, and moved the hover bike and storage compartments to the sides where they won't be blocked by the "firefly" part of the vehicle when it is docked.
