I thought it was time to revive something classical: Forbidden Island So I made my own - modernized and extended - version, based on the original base plate and including many original elements. And so this MOC brings us back to the days when water was plain blue and plane - and sand was yellow (there was no tan / dark tan). Monkeys were there, of course. ... and a pirate captain with his crew. Thanks for watching - C&C welcome!

I'm not sure weither this is the right forum, but I actually got an interview on TV. The video is in Dutch but it gives you a nice view on the start of the Greenville layout and it also shows a bit more of my ship the ''Halve Maen''. There are also quite a few MOCs in there I have not posted yet. I will keep you updated on the Greenville layout and everything, but if you have any questions you can ask them here. i hope you enjoy the interview! http://www.omroepfle...bouwen-met-lego PS. Is it possible to embed the video, I don't know how to?

Hi everyone, Let me introduce you a collaborative creation built with two friends Kloou and N3rik68 for Fanabriques 2016 (event that took place few weeks ago in France) The display is mainly composed of a big island surrounded by smaller ones and by two big boats and some small surprises Let's see together all sides of this display : Well, not easy to do justice to this creation with these pics due to its size, so here are some details (warning captain, a storm of pics is approaching ) One of my favorite detail, a reference to the final challenge of Koh-Lanta (french version of Survivor) And the traditional sacrifice to the mighty volcano : That was a real pleasure to work with these two lads, and the display was really appreciated by the audience. There were also two little games : finding 9 specific minifigs, and 9 shark-guys all hidden in the display - and the kids enjoyed a lot this kind of game ^^ The whole thing was build in a way we could easily move it from our homes to the event, some it is composed by small modules of baseplates. To sum up, it took us only 5 minutes to assemble (or disassemble) the island (but maybe half an hour to pick up all the small trans-blue rounds that were used for the water ) For instance here is a pic of some WIP of my part of the display to see how the island is made : Well, we hope you'll enjoy it as it is never easy to present pics that can do justice to a big creation Note - you can find even more pics in the following Flickr albums : here, here or here. Bonus pics : The two finding games And our small box of trans-blue round plates

Hello everyone! The neoclassical Custom House in Dublin was built in 1791, burnt down in 1921 before its restoration to what it is today, a grand but neglected building. It was quite unpopular with many at the time of its completion but I’m hoping minifigures are less critical. I'm interested in hearing what you all think. Dublin Custom House by David D, on Flickr

Forget about the cave said to be hidden behind the skull carved in the rock. Beyond it there are treasures greater than your wildest dreams. Above the tall, rocky cliffs nestled in the dense forest there is a forest temple holding more treasure than all the rest of the treasure of the world combined. But *shhh* this is a secret, which may be as guarded as the treasure itself. When a fierce pirate named Marina learned of this secret, she quickly set sail to Treasure Island with her trusty, reliable companion called Wade. She glanced through her scope up high, and was shocked, for she thought she saw a figure high above. Still she was determined to get the treasure for herself. Most of the cliff sides are too steep to climb, expect for one area. Be careful though, as it is said that barbarians reside within the dense brush and palms. And even if you somehow make it past the barbarians, unspeakable and perhaps unknowable foes await you in the temple. This is my first Pirates Mod-MOC, as well as my first Pirates set. I like the 2015 Treasure Island set, but really wanted to expand it as soon as I got it. I was inspired by this interesting MOC my boyfriend built while I was modifying the set, so I decided to incorporate it:

As im in the process of cleaning up all of MOC´s that i have staying around to prepare for finishing my Hanging gardens of Babylon, im kind of rushing through my shelves. So much have been staying around for so long with no progress going on. Also just to get a new start after my Dark age. Some are going straight to the trashbin, some i feel is ok to post. This was yet another that i felt was good enough to post, i would have done so much more to it. Change the clouds underneath, a lot of stuff i felt needed changed on the spaceship and the minifigs as well. However this along with so many others have been hanging around for over a year and i never got the inspiration to finish it. So just to get a fresh start being able to only focus on my Hanging gardens of Babylon, i just want to get rid of everything else. So this was wrapped up rather quickly as you will probably notice some holes and gaps around the build. However i felt it was fun enough to post. I will let the moderators decide wether its in the right forum as its sort of all over the place. All feedback is welcome as usual. KlodsBrik.

The Building Ships for BoBS topic can be found here The General Master Index of BoBS can be found here The list of factionleaders can be found here Interested in seeing some of these ships in real life? Check out when the next BoBS lay-out is planned here! - Foreword First of all, enjoy this index, BUT DO NOT USE IT TO BUMP TOPICS where the last comment was posted 1 month ago!!! Making indexes is very time consuming, so please do not panic if your ship can't be found in this index! You may always send me a PM when it appears your ship is not in the list, but has been posted for longer than 1 week. A ship is always made by someone. But as ships can have different owners over the time due the MCRA system, there is also the "Owner EB name" where the current owner is stated. The ship can have a different status since last time you checked the INDEX. Some examples: (the status can be found next to "licenced/unlicenced" Active: this ship roams the Seven Brickseas Inactive: it has been a while since someone saw it (meaning mostly the owner became inactive) Destroyed: destroyed in a MCRA action without a renewed licence Sistership "original name": the original ship has been destroyed and a sister ship is made. For Sale: the owner wants to sell the ship, you should pm the owner if interested. [*]All ships that appear somewhere in BoBs can be found in this list. Also the ships made by someone belonging to another faction for a certain faction. These ships are ofcourse unlicenced and they may be for sale (see status). In the Faction Index, they will appear under "Unlicenced Vessels" and are added to the "Royal Fleet". [*]The Official Lego Sets are also included in this index as they are for some people a source of inspiration. Those ships can never be licenced by a member, only by a faction, but they can be used to depict heroic naval battle scenes. - INDEX Foreword Class 0 to Class 2 vessels Class 3 to Class 5 vessels Class 5+ vessels Faction PC Vessel index: Corrington & Eslandola Faction PC Vessel index: Oleon & Sea Rats Faction NPC Vessel Index Vessels for Sale Index Naval Flag Index Sails, Rigging & Masts Index Saved for expansion Building Ships Topic Master Index of BoBS BoBS on Lego Fan Events (your chance to see those ships in real life!) - The ship types - LAST EDIT: 1 May: completely updated 19 May: the KPA 4 - results are updated in the Faction ship index. First part of the story ... Captain Ben D'Anvers was relieved when he saw a little settlement. They survived the unknown jungle they had to go through. But once arrived in the hamlet, he saw he took too few soldiers with him. He never imagined he would run into such a big community. Those vikings must breed kids like rabbits!! Somewhere in the middle of the hamlet, the longest (erm...) longhouse stood next to a campfire. It was very nice detailed with even golden accents. Based on the quality of their weaponry and those gold touches, there should be some mines around the hamlet... Very interesting... Luckily for Ben, the Vikings were very friendly and even really gratefull they saw for the first time in ages some people from a world that became a fantasy for them. A man with red horns on his helmet came outside the longhouse and started talking blablabla as Ben didn't understand a word. With hands and feet and a small chicken, they managed to greet eachother. After a few hours of making strange moves and sounds, Captain Ben understood he wouldn't come anyfurther. Time to go back home and return with a translator from Corrington! To be continued? Depends on your votes hahaha :D C&C welcome!

Traditionally seen, 2016 starts in Belgium with Brick Tricks in Tielt. It is a rather small local exposition with a nice atmosphere. 5 years ago, it was the very first event Captain Greenhair participated. And to celebrate it, he came back this year! And he even took the very godfather of fregates, the tutorial and inspiration for most of us! So it turned out we would be both on the exposition, we agreed to make the very first BoBs collab in history!!! Too bad we soon discovered we both are Eslandolan... So Corrington and Oleon might be underrepresented... Anyway, enjoy!!! Btw, the weekend of 12 & 13th November, the biggest exposition of Belgium takes place, in Antwerp. For this year, we are going for a BOBS Pirate lay-out of 100 square meter!!! We really are going for the biggest pirate lay-out ever! So if you want to be part of this, feel free to send me a message :D :D A global picture I also made some promotion, so maybe we'll get some new members in the future :D Some extra pictures Enjoy! (btw, is this a freebuild of both CGH and me or not?)

This is a small MOC from a while ago. As you can see it doesn't have any sails because I couldn't find any good parts for that. It has 3 Redcoats and 1 pirate! It has different weapons to example swords etc. This is also my first pirate MOC (I'm 13) but I will do more in the future. Any suggestions? Just tell me in the comments. Have a nice day you bloody pirates, Aye

Here's my entry to the small category of the PTV contest. The pirates used the cliff as a convenient method of murder...On the ground below, spears served to impale any enemies thrown off the cliff.... Of course, occasionally a body might miss the spears... This was a fun build; it was interesting to try building with a size restriction (which I don't normally do). I've been slowly working on this build for over a month, and I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out, especially the cliff. The idea of the blood flowing into the water is something I've been wanting to do for a while (although it was a last-minute addition). I don't actually have any pirates sets, so making the minifigures was pretty tricky; I think they look reasonably decent, though. Enjoy!

The rays of the rising sun illuminated the dirty wall squeezing through the bars. Billy felt the salty flavour of the sea and listened to the distant squeaks of the seagulls in the port. There, for a second day now, the grinning head of the Fat Joe was swinging on the yard. He was lucky – he died in battle when their ship was taken in abordage. His brave shipmates, though, weren’t that lucky. Today, at dawn, they were going to be hanged at the approving clamour of the crowd.

Hello All, I have exhibited at Legoworld in the Netherlands this year with a landscape based on the first pirates series. The landscape is 7 meters long and 1.25 wide. I created this landscape with my brother and it took ,roughly said, 5 months to built. We wanted a bigger landscape, but we did not have that many blue baseplates. The landscape contains a small town with a wall around it. There is a small harbor and a bit of countryside. Behind the wall is a big sea with several Islands of the Imperial soldier. There is one big island with Islanders. The island contains a volcano, several waterfalls and cottages of the Islanders. Across the sea is a fortress of the Imperial Armada. In the end corners of the landscape are several pirate hideouts and a city of gold (Eldorado?). Here is the link to the pictures. http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=560054 Questions and comments/feedback are welcome. Sincerely, Sander

One of the many companies Aardman Animations (the studio behind Wallace & Gromit and Creature Comforts) have made adverts for is LEGO. What is uploaded on YouTube by the Hall of Advertising channel is one advert done for Train... And one very impressive advert done for Pirates... But also, my Creating 3-D Animation book mentions a spaceman advert Aardman made that was similar to the Pirates one. I looked it up and yes, I found a Space advert with the same construction characters (2:30): But I've also seen listed in an interview a mention of producing advertising for LEGO Star Wars. This interview came out before Chicken Run and LEGO Star Wars came out in 1999 so it must have been in the franchises early years. http://www.telepathy.co.uk/aardman/culture/faqs.html Does anyone know of some early LEGO Star Wars advert with stop-motion in it?

[This system is part of a near expansion to BoBS, and is out of play for the first month] Character Development Skill Trees / Achievement System This system serves two roles: It is an achievement system for all players, even those who do not play in the Economic Game System (EGS). These are building challenges where you earn ranks in different fields. It will probably take most builders over a year to conquer every field. Part of the BoBS project is to help hone and improve builder’s talents, and this system is designed to do that. The lower levels of each tier are more thematic, while the higher levels require more advanced building techniques. Giving credit where credit is due, many of the building technique ideas have been borrowed from the Guilds of Historica University of Petraea Program. Each MOC for each part of each tree requires a certain amount of approvals. Approvals may come from any member of the BoBS community. A member gives approval through posting to the MOCs thread a “I approve” or a thumbs up to the MOC. Remember, if you are going to give an approval, make sure the MOC meets the requirements of the task the builder is completing. Each MOC that is built for a task in the Achievement System can also be used for free build points. The thread should clearly state what task you are attempting to fulfill, the requirements, and then the pictures and story behind the MOC. You should also put somewhere in the beginning of your text that you are seeking approval votes from the community so that people reading your post will know what is required of them. Once enough tasks are completed to earn a rank, you can start calling yourself by that rank! Please record your progress in the Achievement Recording thread. Also, Please only use one post in that thread, just edit it with your new achievements. If you are playing in the EGS, remember some of these achievements carry bonuses, such as the ability to build more revenue generating property per month, better combat skills, or more luck! Note: Unless your sig fig is Leonardo DiVinci and a renaissance man, most likely your sig fig is not the one working through every one of these achievement trees. It is ok to have “side characters” that work through the trees for story purposes. You still get any benefits from completing these achievements, even if you are using multiple characters to tell your story. Here is an index of the possible achievement trees. Some are not completed yet, and more may be added later. Location: E11 Fascini Cluster Tags: None Last time, in Ender's story: A Space Saga Begins Is it Mine Mine? Okami Bike Kawashita Hummer Where Was I Supposed to Be? Spaceman Spiff Earlier... A natural at sales, pombe came to Dr. Long with a brilliant idea: You want to do what? It'll be the hotest item off the Octan production line! I guarentee I can get Kawashita alone to buy 5,000 units. And are you prepared to write all of the programs for the holodecks yourself? You're going to need a lot of body scans to create all the holo-characters you'll need. Not a problem. I'm going to pull the programs from Earth's media archives, and I have an extensive team ready to be the holo-models. Later that day... So here is the list of people I'll need you to portray. It's all historical characters like I requested right? Of course! Umm, don't you know that Little Mermaid is just a fairy tale? Nonsense Eshey, everyone knows mermaids are real. Now go change into your costume. Later... Ender was still recovering from his fights against the Emboians. He decided to take another turn on the holodeck. This time, he chose one of the timeline mashups in which he portrayed the villainous pirate, Black Hair. He had been captured by Zoid Blue-coats when a debonair pirate rushed in to save the day. Ender had noticed that the holodeck programs featured this character a lot, and always in heroic roles. He wondered why that was... (OoC: Please note that the holodeck scene was featured in my last build and should not be judged for this week)

By Sea - Ships and The Monthly Raiding and Commerce Action in the EGS The Age of Sail was mostly about one thing – profit. Those willing to take what the Sea would give them, those willing to haul the bounty of new lands, and those willing to take it from others. In BoBS, a critical part of the game and the storylines is about wealth generation, legal or not. Remember, you can build whatever you want that fits into the theme of BoBS. You do not have to play within the game system if you do not want to! Your stories and builds will still be part of the project! What follows is the rules for the game mechanic that allows builders' ships to make money at sea and in some cases, crush their enemies. It should be noted that all of the mechanisms described below are separate from conflict resolutions or other combat. Note: The MRCA v.2 will be launched shortly. Master Index Licensing Ships (This post) Participating in the MRCA The Ship License Form Example Cruise Licensing Ships To buy a license for a ship, you pay your faction a fee, using the ship license form. All licenses must have a MOC attached to them in order to use that licensed ship in the MCRA. You can build the MOC first, then apply for the license once you have enough DBs to do so. If a builder has no ship licenses larger than a Class 1, he/she is always entitled to a single Class 1-2 license (even if a previous free license ship has been lost). If a vessel is destroyed, we encourage builders to MOC a new vessel for the next license. However, we know that that could be time-consuming, so you can attach a new license to an old MOC that was licensed previously even if it has been long disassembled. Do give your ship a new name though. We can assume that your character(s) went to the old shipwright and bought a sister ship. When MOCing a vessel to fit a license, we highly encourage that builders try to MOC according the characteristics of the ship they are trying to license. Because ship MOCs do not have to stay intact, most people with a fledgling pirate collection should be able to MOC the small and medium sized categories multiple times over. The leadership will consider micro-builds for ships of larger sizes on a case by case basis. Sea Rats only pay 70% of a ship license. Cost Multiplier After 3 licensed ships, the cost of a license goes up. The current maximum of licensed vessels one person can have is 12. Un-licensing Ships You may un-license a ship at any time through the ship licensing form. If you wish to re-license an un-licensed ship, you must pay the original amount (subject to the cost multiplier). Up-licensing Ships If you don't have the DBs available, you may choose to temporarily under license your ship. To upgrade, you must pay the difference. Use the Ship Upgrade form to do so (coming soon). When posting your ship, you must state the licence to which you intend to upgrade it later on. Captured Ships If you capture a NPC ship (one that does not belong to another player) you must MOC that ship before you can take advantage of the license. After having MOCed it, you must fill out the ship license form before using the ship. If you capture a ship belonging to another player, you may use it whenever. If you capture a ship and already own three or more ships, you must pay difference between the original license and the cost multiplier before you can use it. You may sell a captured ship without MOCing it or paying the cost multiplier. If it has not been MOCed, you must of course inform potential buyers of this fact. When a NPC pirate ship captures a PC warship, the warship will not be auctioned. In the case of all other ships captured by NPC pirates, they will be auctioned. When a NPC privateer ship captures a PC ship and war has not been declared between the respective nations, the case will be brought before the courts of the privateer's home nation and resolved by volunteers via a build off (see the Conflict Resolution rules). When a ship labeled "Unknown" captures a builder's vessel, the builder may post a build that throws blame on some NPC privateer (this can be a MRCA result build). A disinterested leader will determine by the roll of a die (1/3 favorable probability) whether or not the build is accurate. If the roll is favorable, the builder will proceed to a build-off with the implicated nation (see above). To take advantage of this possibility, the build casting blame must occur in the same month of the capture (i.e. if the MRCA was the February MRCA, the build must occur in March, and the build-off, if applicable, will occur in April). If a builder's last Class 1 or 2 ship is captured by a NPC and the builder has no larger ships, he is entitled to a free license and will be given the opportunity to retrieve his ship without action being taken concerning it (as above). Buying Ships You may buy ships from other players. To pay the other player, you must fill out a transaction form. If the ship was a captured ship and has not yet been MOCed, you must MOC it before you can use it. You must fill out the ship license form for any ship(s) you buy. No DBs will be subtracted, except in the case of the cost multiplier. Ships bought from another player are subject to the cost multiplier. Prize Court See here for more details. Independent Contractors Sea Rats (and only Sea Rats) can call upon an independent contractor for help with a piratical mission. At the cost of 1/5th of the profit, a Sea Rat can hire a randomly rolled 1-3A vessel to tag along. For 3/5ths of the profit, a Sea Rat can hire a randomly rolled 4A-5HA vessel to tag along. Independent contractor ships may be used as escorts or predators. All players sailing in conjunction with an independent contractor must give up 1/5 or 3/5s of their share (as applicable). Ship Characteristics Speed (S): This dictates how many ports a ship can visit during a Trade Run, and how likely your ship is to escape when being chased. Guns (G): This is the ship’s attack and defense characteristic. Roughly, one G rating equals 4 guns. Your MOC should conceivably be able to hold the amount of guns that your license entails. Creative license is allowed here of course. Crew ©: This is the amount of men on your ship, and in a boarding action they will be relied upon. Roughly, one C equals 5 men. A 0 crew is the captain and a few choice men. Creative license is allowed here of course. Cargo ($): This is the space the ship has for hauling goods. One $ allows the vessel to carry 10% of the total trade value of a settlement. Hull (H): This is the strength of the vessel. The Hull statistic is only used in raiding and attacking fortresses, or in special circumstances between warships. Possible Opponents (PO): This is the number that a ship can fight in one battle. Escorts need high PO or more escorts will be needed when fighting off groups of attackers.

Ahoy mateys, I present you the new brig el Matador for Eslandola. She has 14 guns and is under the command of captain Pedro Cabral. The ship is build to escort the trade routes and I will license it as a class 4A as soon as I get enough money. First up a shot of the entire ship, I think the lines are quite nice and I really like the medium dark flesh colour! A bit closer The stern Detail on the bow A birds eye Detail of the masts and rigging Captain Cabral and some of Eslandola's finest The gun crews below deck work hard To deliver a full broadside I hope you like it, may she have good fortune in battle!

Cantu's House Even a Pirate Has a Sweet Tooth La Oleon Captain's Cabin Tropical Fruit Decision Lumber Camp Freddy's Big Haul The Golden Dragon Captain Sulu met with great success with his acts of piracy. Flying the black, he came upon a merchant ship who, after seeing his colors, immediately started flying the white and gave over their ship in exchange for their lives. The former crew of "El Polla" was left adrift in the open seas with nothing but one barrel of water in their rowboat. None of them were seen alive again. -
Commanded by Captain Unrigged Nordau, the Buccaneer's Dread is one of the most avoided of all the ships that sail the Brick Seas. Captain Unrigged is also Captain Whiffo's number one nemesis, and both have been planning for longer than either of them can remember to hunt the other down. Without the sails: And, as per popular request, more pictures of my micro-ship! I plan to use Captain Unrigged Nordau (credit to one of my sisters - not Kai, btw - for the name) in my character's story, and the build was inspired by one of Blackdeathgr's MCRA results in which he used a sail on a rowboat hull. A couple of last pictures: Thanks for viewing, C&C are definitely welcome!
