  1. Previous Chapter: Vampire Slayer --- Next Chapter: ??? "Then there is no changing the fact that you disobeyed your Captain. Is this not true, Aeldric?" Chamal Chairal asked with an authoritative voice. ((Sorry about the quality of this picture )) "Before i ask, i have a question for you, Chairman Chaman Chairal," Aeldric said back. "And what would that be?" Chamal said, leaning forward in his chair. "Where is Wizard Vorthentus? Why are you in his place?" Aeldric asked. A great silence fell about the room, ominously calming the floating stones around the Aegis realm. Chamal sighed before opening his mouth to speak. "Vorthentus has set out to stop a great force but has not returned. We fear he has died." the Chairman replied. A heavy face blew across Feowind. "Now, do you deny?" Chamal said, returning to the previous inquiry. "I do not. But, i set out to avenge a great elf. Aurthal was a powerful shaman of nature, and i slew the Vampire that killed him, and in turn avenged his soul so he could rest." Aeldric confessed. "Then you deliberately denied Avdar's orders?" Chamal said. "...Yes. I am guilty." Aeldric said. "Then, you are to be revoked of your title, and you shall be stripped of your strength, and never be allowed the presence of the Aegis Council again." Just then, a green-robed man stepped through the Aegis portal, carrying a white letter with the seal of Albion on it. "I have a letter from De'Gothia of Albion, sires." the man said, bowing, and holding out the letter. "Do you realise you are interrupting a council session, messenger?" Avdar asked the man. "Yes, but this letter is of more importance to the council than any of you here." the man boldly said. "Let me see it," Chamal said, standing up. The man handed him the letter, and Chamal unrolled it. "I have heard the news that Aeldric of the Rangers of Avalonia has slain a powerful Vampire of Nocturnus, and has avenged the powerful shaman Aurthal. This act of his has proved him brave and courageous, and I grant him the position of Captain of the Rangers of Avalonia. He has shown his strength, and i grant him the authority over Avdar's force of Rangers." ~De'Gothia of Albion Avdar stood up in a rage. "de Gothia thinks he can revoke my title?!" he shouted. Chairman Chamal stood up over him, with a foreboding appearance. "The Leader of Avalonia has Spoken, and his will shall be done. You, Avdar, are to be revoked of your title, and replaced by Aeldric." ------------ Alright guys! I've finally uploaded and finished the build! This is part 1 of the end of Aeldric's story, as his tale will be coming to a close, for reasons i will not explain, because that would spoil the story! Anyways, as usual, CC welcome, and i hope you enjoyed! Also, thanks to de'Gothia for letting me use dialogue for his character in this build!
  2. Hey everyone After settling in the furthest west of Avalonia, these three set up a small house close to the cliff edge. The Avalonian colors fly near the entrance of the house (And as decoration at the bottom). Still new to the land, they take their time exploring different locations and plan to expand their settlement here. As always, all feedback is welcome! A closer look at the landscape and front of the building. Looking forward to posting more here in Guilds of Historica. Thanks all for your time! ~Pat
  3. There's no place like home! Especially when you live in a huge Mitgardian castle, haha! The bed: It's about time I did something in Mitgardia again, I was getting a bit homesick over in AG! I'm planning on also entering it into the Medieval Manor category of CCCXIII, which happened to be an opportune category, as the build had been started a while back. Thanks for looking, C&C are welcome!
  4. The Bay of Seals. An inhospitable body of water even in the midst of summer. In the early weeks of spring, it is a positively murderous expanse of icy blue. It was not a particularly inviting place to come ashore, but it was not dusk of the second day since the Blanchefleur had foundered east of the Bay of Seals. The wind had driven hard from the north, and rather than fight against it to reach the mouth of the Bearclaw River and the port of Nordheim, the castaway had rowed south, coming ashore in an inlet on the east bank of Gronnfjord, the westernmost tributary of the Bay. The ground was hard rock - sheltered for the most part from the weather by the steep sides of the fjord, there was little sand on the beach, merely a rugged slope of gray stone, broken somewhat by small plants, and no doubt exposed by whatever cataclysm had cut the Gronnfjord into the into the land. A chilly, damp wind, bearing with it an icy tinge of the bay, swept up as the lone, weary traveler laid the oars on the rowing bench and climbed stiffly out onto dry land. He lifted a wooden staff from the bottom of the boat. It was taller than he, completely smooth and straight save for a large knot at one end. He settled the staff in his left elbow as he pulled his cloak tighter around himself and pulled down his weather-beaten hat. He reached back under the cloak and checked the position of several items strapped to his back, then stood erect and looked around him. The failing light of the sun revealed a path, not perhaps comfortable but at least safe, winding its way up the side of the fjord. Gripping the staff in his gloved right hand, the traveler climbed the beach, leaving the rowboat hanging by a few rocks under its keel. The first good rain or strong wind would dislodge it, but the traveler did not care. Where he was going now, he would have no need for this rowboat. Many long leagues lay between him and his destination, and doubtless many perils and adventures. The fate of one small Avalonian rowboat mattered little to him. At long last, he returned to his homeland, Mitgardia, but for how long and to what end remained to be seen.
  5. Here's my latest free build, enjoy. A city blacksmith in Kaliphlin. Not much interesting backstory to it. Overall View. From one side. From the other side. From the back, the smith prefers to sleep out in the open air on the roof. Forge area without the roof. Inside the shop. The smith's assistant tends to a costumer. Inside the smith's house. C&C is appreciated. Thanks for viewing.
  6. My challenge V entry is finally done!! Long ago, the heroes of Mitgardia were buried in their best ship. Having found the map to his great grandfathers tomb and the great treasure locted there, Uridius, his father, nephews and followers Camp at the site to discover the secret of the long lost treasure. Take a closer look at the double falls and catch some salmon for supper! Write down the adventures of the journey to send to the king of Mitgardia: Check out the inside of the Palisade: Or check out the new model: Uridius and his father try to discover the location of the cave... While the cook prepares lunch... Oops! Take that back. While the cook BURNS lunch Uridius's young nephew's enjoy sparring, or at least one of them does! Solve the mystery of the lost treasure! By pulling the level a portion of the rock collapses revealing the treasure chamber. Remove the diamond to swing up the wall and recover the treasure! More Photo's one my photostrem: http://www.flickr.co...hoto_8173012452 C&C are welcome.
  7. Hail noble knights of Kaliphlin! I am pleased to introduce to you, Prince Themuell (of Antaria)! ~RBC ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Raised in the Palace of Antaria since he was an infant, young Themuell was taught how to hunt and fight with a sword. For over a century the people of Antaria have been at peace, ruled by Themuell's just and courageous father, High Lord Keldore (the Great). However, times have changed in these recent months. The city of Antaria has been attacked by a strong army of Nocturnian lords. With the city under siege, Themuell's father has called all able-bodied men and boys 17 and older to help aid in its defense. Themuell, being is only 12 years of age is instructed by his father to evacuate the city, and take shelter with a Avalonian lord by the name of Delrane--a long-time friend of his father. Just before riding of to defend his people, Keldore gives his son a shimmering silver bracelet, and instructs him to guard it with his life. With the help of his caretaker and closest friend Katar, Themuell flees the city and heads into the forests of Avalonia. Little does young prince Themuell know, but the bracelet he is carry holds a dark secret about his past. One that will one day change young Themuell's life, forever! (to be continued)
  8. Ch II - Prologue - New Leadership - Discussion by mpoh98, on Flickr Part 2 of the GoH Challenge Prologue. Enjoy! Feren sighed happily, breathing in the fresh night's air. Nothing like a walk in the night to freshen you up. Feren was taking another one of his nightly walks, pondering the change of leaders in Avalonia. Even though I will miss Lord Varis, Lord Simon is a very good friend of mine, and his loyalty to Avalonia is unquestionable. His leadership skills will prove useful in the coming times, as we will most likely soon learn what the Drow are up to, and what we need to do to defend. As he trudged through the alleyway, next to the tavern, his fine-tuned ears picked up a conversation. Cocking his head to one side, he concentrated on the source. It's coming from the 2nd floor of the tavern, he realized. Flattening himself next to the wall, he debated whether he should climb it, but discarded the idea. If someone walks by, that would be extremely embarrassing to be caught spying on 2 of my citizens. He listened in, and was just in time to hear them talking about their new leader. Ch II - Prologue - New Leadership - Discussion by mpoh98, on Flickr "What do you think of this new leader, Simon of Nalderic?" Feren's eyes widened, it was one of his Elite Rangers, a man by the name of Roger. He must be taking a break from his shift. "Meh, I personally don't care, as long as he doesn't do anything stupid, and is fair, I'm good." Feren nodded, this man was one of his friends, Gavin was his name. A good man, but slightly on the easygoing side of things, he was very lenient in political matters. "Well," Roger said, "I am glad in the change, as my Lord Feren is a good friend with Lord Simon, I know him to be a fantastic leader, and a good man. I am sure he will make a wonderful leader." Good man, Feren thought to himself. He yawned. It was time he went back to the keep, and to his toasty bed. I've heard enough, things seem to be going well here in Marrock Fortress......I really need to change the name of my castle, it's to repetitive with my island.....anyway my Rangers seem to like him, so that's good. I pray that Simon will turn out to be a good leader as we think he will be, we will need one soon..." Turning around, he silently padded around the corner, and back to the keep. Well, this is my 2nd entry into GoH for the Avalonia mini challenge, and it was an extremely fun build. I had fun building the interior, I need to experiment more with that. Tell me what you think of it, I would love to get better with interiors! Critiques appreciated! Thanks for viewing! Soli Deo Gloria! ~Matthew~
  9. Here we are: Steve the Dwarf's forge. After the arriving of Alexander Vandangant and the arriving of upcoming war's news, the council of Hidden Garden decided to rebuild the village as it was once, before going in ruins. The forge is an essential part of the village and it was one of the first part to be reconstructed. This freebuild will be part of Avalonian Task 4 - Historican Settlements in the category Craftsmen/Merchant - Arms & Armor: Blacksmith. As a part of the Doctorate of Historica Programm I'd like to claim 1 point for manufacturing. C&C are always welcome, Enjoy!
  10. Journeying to the Eastern Darklands is never an easy feat, but all travelers seeking out Nocturnus must pass through the Kelra Labyrinths. Leagues upon leagues of twisting stone pathways spell certain doom for most who enter, and are heavily guarded by the Minotaur race. Stoic, proud, ruthless, and tireless, the Minotaurs reside in tribal fortresses while not prowling the dizzying curves of the maze. Shown above is the Great Ram Valx and two members of his tribe outside their fortress along the acid river Zalkzys.
  11. Riding through the thick Nocturnian undergrowth, Sir Rex Marizrack pondered his position. He had by his own request been sent by Lord Raavage to destroy a dangerous and fierce Nocturnian with whom he also had a personal quarrel; the dreaded Lord Ssstraalfarrks, or at least that was what he called himself. He was also very hungry. Lord Ssstraalfarks, after having lost to Marizrack in a joust, had seen to it that Marizrack was accused of a false plot and exiled from Mitgardia. Thinking about this and about why Lord Raavage didn’t feed his soldiers better, Sir Rex approached Lord Ssstraalfarks Nocturnian banquet hall. Leaping of his horse, he ran to the doors and hewed them in with a few blows with his heavy axe. Exclaiming “Lord Ssstraalfarks, you time has come!” he rushed upon him. A short but desperate fight ensued, during which he noticed that, for a Nocturnian, Lord Ssstraalfarks eat rather normally. After clashing weapons a few times (and eating a little of the food now scattered all over) Sir Marizrack leaped onto the table and cut Lord Ssstraalfarks down. Grabbing another handful of victuals - his share of the booty – he ran out to his horse and rode back to tell Lord Raavage that he had succeeded; and that he now deserved a more amply midday meal. C&C are welcome!
  12. If you have any ideas for new species for Historica drop them below. this is not a challenge, we won't vote on wich is the best. This is just to show people your awesome ideas! have fun thinking!
  13. Just wanted to post these for fun. I've signed up to Nocturnus but want to show my appreciation for the builders in the other guilds too! Pictured are three sirens elven maidens of the Enchanted Forest; Jilandria a scout, Lustriel - Choir Mistress and Aurumulus (beast friend). Armed with swords tempered by the tears of the Dryads, these ladies wield hand a half swords, their magical properties embue them with incredible lightness and the bearers with enhanced speed through the forest. A side effect of the Dryad tempering means that they wail and shriek as they arc through the air. The Dryad sorrow voiced as they cut down enemies of the trees. Orcs in particular seem to suffer more grievous wounds from these blades. Dryad to follow (damn you bricklink). Apologies for inaccuracies in background if there are any I'm new to GoH. I would have posted it in the minifigs forum but none of you would have seen it ;)
  14. I had originally planned to make this an AoM phase one for Barracks (sparring), but it turned out as just a freebuild Anyways after finishing his keep, Uridius is spending his time strengthening Mitgardia's military force: Marching on ice is a good way to learn to keep your balance, and it doesn't appear unenjoyable either, Uridius rides with his men: C&C are welcome
  15. Wymond the Fox shifted on the stump as he finished cooking a trout over the coals. “I can’t believe that Avalonian painter tried to adjust the way those elk were holding their heads. I have enough to worry about without needing to save painters from their absurdities.” He inspected the trout and decided it was ready. As he was tearing into the cooked fish, Wymond heard the cracking of twigs and labored breathing. He stamped out his fire. Before Wymond could crawl into his shelter a portly man crashed through the underbrush. “It better snow early this year,” Wymond muttered, “I can’t stand any more painters.” The painter, oblivious to what Wymond was saying, began setting up an easel. Wymond put on his best grimace. The more frightening he looked in the paintings sold in Avalonia, the fewer painters would come looking for him; at least, that was his hope. Wymond's campsite. Cooking fish over the coals. His trusty axe. The lean-to. Since I mainly do photography of nature and cities, I would appreciate suggestions on creating a good backdrop for taking pictures in addition to any other suggestions you have!
  16. So here goes the archery phase one entry A Mitgardian archer is hunter for dinner: a tasty and unsuspecting stag A closer look at the stag (inspired by Kai's micro horses) And for an overview pic here. I'd like to recieve UoP credits for: General Building: Forced Perspective Anthropology: Countryside Scene C&C are welcome
  17. Finally, Barracks Phase I: Taking special care that his soldiers are well trained, Uridius often spars with them, showing them their strong and weak points. It is also important that the soldiers remain active (so they stay warm and don't buy so much kaliphlinian oil ). And figless: I would like to recieve UoP credits for: Landscape Design - flowers and dense foliage landscaping C&C are welcome
  18. Three Kaliphlin officers are making plans for how to stop the Drow from flowing in to Kaliphlin as well, as forces loyal to the Drow invaders of Avalonia have been spotted in Kaliphlin. So far the few invaders have been dealt with by swift actions of the Kaliphlin light cavalry.
  19. Welcome to Kaliphlin If you would like to join Kaliphlin, we are open to all members of all backgrounds. Just create a sig-fig and back-story, post here to sign up, and then get on to the building! Section One: Guilds of Historica Background The bard’s song tells a tale of a world long forgotten, Race against race, clan against clan, shields clashed with swords; long ago when Men of the Lion fought Men of the Falcon, and human armies succumbed to Orcs and undead. Each group clashed with its neighbor for power, unleashing upon the world a great scourge, and the arcane land was thrown into chaos. When it all seemed but lost, a council of wise men and sages was summoned. From all the lands they came to convene in the old world’s great city; the fortress of Cedrica. To settle the grievance and end a millennium of bloodshed, the sages declined all the treaties of old and joined all the clans into one mighty Kingdom; Historica. They founded the Four Great Regions- each one a realm in itself; - Mitgardia in the North, Nocturnus in the East, Kaliphlin in the South and Avalonia in the West, so that trade routes would spring up and clans would meet in the markets and not in the theatre of war. The wise men chose a family of great honor, to uphold the truce and to keep the four guilds from dispute. All is not as it once was. The Black Mage, Victor Revolword, unleashed a new scourge on Historica, taking Cedrica as his own. Though a united Histrocia defeated Revolword’s elemental monsters, the King of Cedrica is missing and the Guilds of Historica have been thrown into chaos. With the wise King’s absence, each guild believes it would be best suited to rule all of Historica, internal struggles have brought each realm to the brink of civil war! This is where the next chapter begins. The battle to take Cedrica from the Black Mage has ended, but the battle for your own guild has begun! Section Two: Guild Background and Theme Kaliphlin Guild - rulers of the Siccus Badlands in the southern region of Historica The Landscape: Siccus Badlands. kaliphlin by nice.marmot, on Flickr The Siccus Badlands is predominately a desert wasteland in the southern realm of Historica. Feed by lakes and rivers of the Avalonia, the Akrbi river runs through its lands and is the primary source of fresh water to the parched south. For the affluent, the preferred water source is the glacial waters shipped from the Mitgardia's snow caps. To the east are the trailing end of the Rakath Mountain Range. The mountain fortress of Qarkyr stands in the mountains acting as a sentinel over the inhabitants of the Darklands. The mountains are small compared to the lofty heights of the Rakath mountains. Under the shadow of the Rakath mountain lies the smaller Mystic mountain where various bands of Mountain Mummies will sojourn near the local villages during the oppressive scorching months. In the far west lies the meager forests and farmlands of the South. These pitiful farms do not provide much food, but the vastness of the farmland provides enough space to grow food for the sparsely populated Siccus Badlands. The port city of Barqa stands as the major trading hub in the western part of the Siccus. Here supplies from the north are shipped in and in return the Black Oil is shipped out. The supplies travel along the Oil Road - always heavily guarded to protect from bandits. Oasis's litter the Siccus desert with the largest one being Petraea, the ancient Capital fortress which is the home of the Kaliphlin. Though lacking in most other resources, it is one of the few producers of Black Oil in the entire Historica- generating wealth beyond belief for its inhabitants. Those within its inner city live in virtual paradise relative to those behind the outer clay-brick fortifications. The bulk of Petraea's citizens are made up of ex-criminals, freed slaves, fortune seekers and people looking to restart their lives in anonymity. While most outside the south presume that the Petraea is a lawless savage city- it is in fact the most lawful cities in all of Historica. The prosperous Black Oil provides plentiful jobs and money for all those who give an honest days work. Those that choose dishonesty, the vast standing Army of the Kaliphlin Guild hands out harsh punishments to ensure there are no repeat offenders. To the East, in the harshest area is home to the the Mountain Mummy tribes who are known to sporting bandage coverings from head to foot, they utilize their garb to ensure that none of their precious moisture is lost to the blistering, arid surroundings. No one is quite sure which race the mummies belong to, as none have ever been seen without their bandages, however, it is rumored that the mummies came to being when warlocks from the eastern darklands corrupted the burial chambers of the nobility during Quakyr's days as an early settlement. While the mummies pay no allegiance but to their chieftains, whom they revere as deities, they have sometimes been known to band together against invading forces from the Eastern Darklands. But the law and order of Petraea does not extend far outside the Capital and the two major cities. The remaining Oasis are savage places where those that are bent on lawless- thrive. They survive on raiding merchants traveling between between the three major cities in a constant and escalating battle with Kaliphlin army. Other regional cities have cropped up, and have from time to time maintained peace beyond their borders; however, few lords are powerful enough to keep the peace by themselves. This is one of the reasons that the Council of High Lords was established. A tour of some of Kaliphlin's most visited locations. Organized by Kai NRG Or visit our University to learn more about the culture of Kaliphlin. Inspirational pictures: The Inhabitants The Siccus Wasteland is a scattered band of peoples - All races are represented - though the human population is less than the other three realms. In the cities it is not uncommon to see the nobles be of all races and creeds. Keeping with the survival instincts of the harsh climate, there is no set armour or weapons for the the Kaliphlin Army or its people - when they march into the field of battle they will use whatever the individual chooses to best suit them. Though while guarding inside the City, full dress armour is adored - to ensure that the world knows of the wealth that is hidden within this desolate realm. Outside the three major cities, the harsh south has lead many to abandon Siccus and wander north to more hospitable realms, this leaves only the most ruthless and hardened bands to wander the wastelands. While they are not typically aligned, they have known to form allegiances to oppose greater foes. Section Three: Recent Guild History The Victor Revolword war was devastating for many of the communities within Kaliphlin. Two of the major battles happened within its borders, and many other cities and towns were turned to ruins by the elemental forces. Still, the people of Kaliphlin stayed strong. Over the last two years they have built more fortresses, connected more cities with roads and trade posts, and have expanded trading empires outside the borders of Kaliphlin. The prices for oil have skyrocketed, as unnaturally cold winters have plagued the north and west along with the interruption of the economies of the other guilds from the war. Tourism has boomed since the war ended, as the nobles and those with coin in their pocket have taken to spending their holiday in Kaliphlin's dry and inviting climate -- especially at Lost Vega. Rumors abound that a Desert King has risen from the sands and looks to take Kaliphlin as his own, but for now, Kaliphinites are content trying to return to normalcy. In February of this year, the "Great Disturbance" shocked Kaliphlin. Eruptions of its venerable volcanoes, a large earthquake lasting what seemed to be hours, and a tsunami has left much of Kaliphlin in ruins... who will be there to rebuild the most glorious and rich guild of them all? Section Four: Guild Members For in-character purposes, the current leader of the Kaliphlin Guild is Dextrus Flagg. Originally a slave - this dwarf revolutionized the production of Black Oil making him the most powerful Merchant, and thus the earning and buying the respect necessary to become the leader of all of the Siccus Badlands. (Courtesy of SI-MOCs) Core Leader: For administrative purposes, SkaForHire is the guild leader and the representative for Kaliphlin to the Guilds of Historica core leadership group. Although Kaliphlin has a guild leader, its economic, diplomatic, and military affairs are run by the Council of High Lords. 21. The home of Trian Burress is in Albion, the Capital City of Avalonia. Antonin, a woodcutter in Albion cuts down a weed tree outside the Burress estate while Fredrick, a stable boy, checks on the horse. An Albion council member and an Avalonia soldier drop by the house for a visit. Built for the King of the Castle title. Catch more views in my Flickr account
  22. Sir Gideon the half-elf Let me introduce my sigfig, and some small MOCs illustrating his backstory! Sir Gideon by Gideon_83, on Flickr Gideon was born as the offspring of the daughter of a minor Avalonian lord and an unknown elvish father. Some rumors say he was a warrior, others that he was a criminal, and yet others had heard from someone who had heard from someone that... Only Gideon's mother knew for certain. Love in Avalonia by Gideon_83, on Flickr Being regarded as "a filthy half-breed bastard", both by most humans and by virtually all elves, he has all his life had a hard time getting accepted in the world of Historica. Gideon’s mother died in childbirth, and he grew up in the care of his reluctant and sorrow-stricken grandfather, the lord of the small earldom of Norshire in the north-eastern part of Avalonia, not far from the Mitgardian border. Gideon’s early years he spent among the human children in his grandfather’s castle Nordana Hall. Neither his grandfather, nor the other humans in the castle were particularly found of the half-elf, so Gideon learned many hard lessons from children and grownups alike that he wasn’t “one of them”. Training children by Gideon_83, on Flickr When the other boys were sent off to squire for one famous knight or another and eventually earn their golden spurs, Gideon was left to train and serve with the household garrison. The life as a common man-at-arms was a miserable one where he was treated worse than ever, especially since his grandfather had died and his uncle had assumed the earlship. It however gave him ample opportunities to train in all kinds of weapon skills, not only those considered chivalrous enough for a proper knight. Finally, Gideon decided that he had spent enough time in a place where he had never been welcome, he set out to make his own place in the world. Gideons bitterness, well founded or not, towards Avalonians and their feudal society knows few bounds. Being a half-elf however also has its advantages. From his fathers kind, Gideon has inherited both the elvish intelligence and longevity. Even though he is still considered a youngster by elvish standards he is over 150 years old. From his mother, being of Mitgardian descent, some of the raw strength and endurance of the northmen has been passed down to him. To a great extent Gideon's life has been a life of violence, earning hard-won respect and a fair share of gold with his diverse and deadly weapon skills. Caravan by Gideon_83, on Flickr As a mercenary he has travelled all over Historica and served lords, merchant princes, chieftains and kings. He even served as a captain in the Petraean city guard for a while, before growing bored by the dull slow-paced ceremonial lifestyle. Petraean city wall by Gideon_83, on Flickr Gideon still finds Kaliphlin and its vibrant cities to be his favorite place in the world. Its diverse nature means that most people don’t seem to care about his background. In his service to wealthy and sly Kaliphlin merchants Gideon also picked up many of the tricks of the trade. Combined with the numerous useful connections he has made during his travels all around Historica, it has enabled him to earn a fair bit of gold on the trade of rare Kaliphlin goods and artifacts. In recent years Gideon has mostly led a lifestyle of the wandering adventurer, never really trusting anyone but himself. Sir Gideon in full armor by Gideon_83, on Flickr Thanks to his noble descent, Gideon likes to style himself "Sir Gideon” although he never was formally knighted, as such honours are usually not bestowed upon half-breed. The human house he descends from has been extinct ever since his mother's great-nephew was slain in a Drow raid many years ago. Formally Gideon therefore may have inherited the lordship of Norshire, but he has never actually been given the position. Instead the shire has just been left to the care of the castellan of Nordana Hall who in turn passed it to his son and so on, making the present castellan Hedrik Lefteye the de facto earl of Norshire. But a small part of Gideon’s conscience tells him that it is may be his duty to return in the desperate hour when the chaos of Revolword have also reached Norshire... I am posting my sigfig here since it is not clear to which guild Sir Gideon's loyalties ultimately lie, with a legal claim to an Avalonian earldom, elvish and Mitgardian ancestry but Kaliphlin gold in his purse. Perhaps something or someone can give him good reasons to join one of the guilds? Should he return home north to try to save what can be saved of his family’s earldom, or join his Mitgardian brethren in the fight against Revolword? Or even go west to take up arms with the elves, if they would have him? And maybe even learn some more things about his past... Or maybe he will just continue roaming Historica, prosper on the riches of Kaliphlin, explore Avalonias mysteries and who knows what else he might encounter? For a while anyway, Sir Gideon remains a guildless traveller caught in the fray of the Revolword war. Whatever outcome it may have he will surely, willing or unwilling, play some part in the saga of Historica. I am a latecomer to GoH, but I am hoping that GoH will live on past Challenge VI since I have seen how this can be an excellent way of developing ones build and photo skills. After lurking around here for a few months I have gotten a huge amount of inspiration! It remains to be seen however if time and bricks will permit that to be translated into MOCs telling the story of my reluctant hero...
  23. My lord Victor, We ambushed them in the ruins of the city of Mythros. They didn't expect any trouble on their return journey... well they were far from right. They found themselves ambushed, separated, and outnumbered. We had joined the elite guards of Cedrica, experienced, battle hardened veterans. Together with my elite troops and beserkers we were able to quickly overwhelm them. Don't expect trouble any time soon from the warriors of Arcium. Your Servant, Murthan Overview of the scene. I was going for an Amon-hen style scene, with ruins, lots of bad guys, and only a few heros. I love the ruins! A beserker leader and two normal beserkers run into the fray! The leader of the Cedricans, Rakthan Blade, duels sir Infernum. Another soldier of Arcium, outnumbered. Whole scene. Figless. The collectable minifigure Roman Commander makes a great Cedrican Warrior! Hope you liked it!
  24. Steven, second son of Legonardo. during his study of math and architechture at the grand university at Petraea he fell in love with the land and something - or someone - else. since then he has married a young kaliphite girl and taken residence here in Kaliphlin. this is his home where he and his newly wedded wife live together, designed by robert and built by local builders. YES I am aware of the spelling errorEdit:errors in the title(s) Hey all, here is my latest freebuild, the main motivation was me playing with domes for the last 1 1/2 weeks, i wanted to use one for something. also it has an Avalonian so its avalonian freebuild points happy 2013!!! ~Legonardo
  25. Nocturnian Brethren... you did not see this. In the heart of Albion lies Norah's Noria, a place for those too far from clean water (or when the city is under siege) to get a barrel. This noria is ox driven allowing more water to be pulled from the well than any hand cranked noria would allow. Norah's ox is named Draema. Draema is known to be the most powerful ox in all of Albion. Norah's elder son, Forman, guides Draema along the path to drive the noria's wheel. After the water is pulled from its source, the barrels are stored or loaded onto carts for distribution around the city. Norah's husband, a carpenter by trade, helps load the barrels onto a cart for delivery. For any citizen that misses the noria sitting out front of Norah's house, the structure can be identified by the water barrel sign hanging out front. Norah's younger son, Frasen, keeps the barn and store house clean. ===================================================================================== I designed this build to complement the Albion Forge that I did as a remix to the DC's classic "Ye Old Forge". The landscaping colors and contours are similar, but this time the design is all mine. There are parts of this build that I like better than the Forge, but overall I still think the Forge is a better show piece. A bonus shot:
