This is great, and as the others have said, the pirate ship and MMV don't look at all out of place. I don't know if I'll ever get a proper layout set up, but I've been fantasizing about the same thing - having a medieval-themed part of the layout, and adding the Eiffel Tower and perhaps the Statue of Liberty. I especially like your white train station. But what did that horse do? And right in the middle of the main street? Shame.

You ask for criticism, but I'm sorry. You won't get any from me :) not negative, anyway. This is great - the colours, the fuel tank, the decals - and, not least, those Bonneville hubcaps. Again: Great work.

These are amazing, incredibly detailed for their size and look just like the real thing - only smaller. I agree that this could be the start of an amazing city! I could also see this as being part as some kind of minifig-scaled theme park :)

Very hard to pick three favourites here, as well. But here are my votes: 1) Nurse, Lifeguard & Fisherman Entry by Danchurch - 1 point. Love the clean design of this. 17) Diver, Surfer & Fisherman Entry by Cecilie - 1 point. Didn't realize the surfer dude looked like a cliff diver until now :) 20) Nurse, Surfer & Space Villain Entry by Darkblane - 1 point. Not a big fan of sci-fi-Lego, but this is so detailed I had to give a point! Great work, everybody!

It's really tough to pick favourites here, but I'll split my point between three entries just because there are so many great ones. 7) Pilot Entry by Dan Church - 1 point. Love the use of forced perspective. 16) Snowboarder Entry by Dreamweb - 1 point. Great ski lift! 21) Elf Entry by Nuju Metru - 1 point. Probably the funniest of all the entries. Well done!

Finally I got around to commenting on this one, and it sure is a beauty, cimddwc! The colours go very well together, like they do in the official bank set, and the whole building is really a grand piece of work, crammed with details as it is. I'm currently working on a modular bank myself, which is somewhat similar, architectonically (as long as you work with those white Atlantis pillars it's bound to be similar), and I toyed with the idea of a basement. I decided against it, but seeing yours makes me wonder if I made the wrong choice. It's really nice, anyway. Great job.

Exclusive Train 10219 Maersk Train (Exclusive 2011)
L@go replied to paul_delahaye's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I visited the Lego store in Copenhagen on Wednesday, and asked them about 10219. I thought maybe, if I was extremely lucky, they had some tucked away in a corner and just maybe I could talk them into selling me one :) but they actually said that they wouldn't get it until around April 25th. They had hoped to get it around April 1st, but had recently been told it wouldn't arrive until later. I'm guessing it's probably the same with other Lego stores, and in that case it will be quicker to buy it from S@H.- 379 replies

I was just going to say "wow" and leave it at that - because like others have said, words fail me. Then I realized I really had to tell you how much I love those motorboats. And then I realized I just love it all. Spectacular work. I'm in awe.

I love it! It fits perfectly into your (excellent) modular street and is a great piece of architectural work. That chapel is wonderfully made, and the way it protrudes from the back wall makes the back of the building great as well. I really admire your modular building style. Keep it up!

Great work, Al Freddo, I especially like the walls with the mix of red and dark red. Adds to the realism! It really doesn't belong in the Town section, though - there's a Train Tech section for these kinds of MOCs.

Thanks for the nice comments! Never thought about adding chrome to it, but maybe that would be a good idea, although I feel that's more of an American phenomenon and not so common on European trucks. Oh, you can't - I made a list and ordered them via BrickLink :)
-
This is really good, with all those details. I like it very much, it's very hard to make an interior as good as yours in a 4-wide space. Great job!

Hello, fellow Eurobrickers! I went through a building frenzy in early February, and I've already showed you some of the results here. I did, however, also build a semi trailer. Now, while I do know quite a lot about cars, I'm not very good with trucks, apart from the fact that I know what they look like. Which means that there might be some details here that aren't all that realistic. If you spot any, feel free to let me know :) This is a flatnose truck, built to look something like a Renault. As with the vehicles in the other post, I designed it in MLCad, then ordered the bricks and built it. It's white and grey, but I wanted an extra accent colour to make it stand out a bit more, and went with dark green. Which became a bit troublesome, as the parts available in that colour weren't the ones that I needed... still, it worked out quite alright. The cab features a reclining chair, because I felt that there wasn't enough room for a bed. As it turned out, there wasn't really enough room for a reclining chair, either, so the driver won't fit. Especially not with his hat on. But it's there, anyway. There are two storage compartments under the cab, one featuring a set of tools, the other a fire extinguisher, and stuck to the back of the cab is a shovel and a pushbroom. It also features a rear view mirror design that I can't remember having seen anywhere else before. The trailer has two doors in the back (surprise) and one in the front, giving access to the refrigerator mechanism. And the whole thing put together is quite huge - about 51 studs long in all. Not something you'd easily sneak around your town's Café Corner in. That's about it, I think. Here are some pictures - more can be found in my vehicle photoset on Flickr. Feel free to comment :)

Lego set 21100 - The japanese sub for sale!
L@go replied to Aegisofer's topic in Special LEGO Themes
As I said, I don't really have the time at the moment to make a proper review. I did, however, take a few photos as I built the Shinkai 6500, and so a 'light review' can be found in my 21100 Shinkai 6500 photoset on Flickr. Hi there - you're not allowed to send PMs until you've made a certain amount of posts here on EB. Was it anything in particular you wanted? I appreciate my privacy so much that I won't be giving out my email address here, I'm afraid. -

I'm not sure if I have the time right now, to be honest, but I'll see what I can do :) -

These three beauties arrived in the mail today, from AmiAmi. Quick shipping. Quite happy. -
Probably very long. It's already got quite a big overhang, so I personally think it would look a bit out of place. After all, those tires are pretty wide. Yeah, I know - I realised that while building it. The colour scheme suits it quite nicely :) Don't be so hard on yourself, and give it a go! BrickLink will provide you with the bricks. Start off buying used ones - that'll make it more affordable, and vehicles aren't the most part-consuming MOCs you could build... And thanks again for all the nice remarks, guys! Really appreciate it!

In my case, the answer is very simple: The Emerald Night. Although I had quite a Lego collection when I was a kid, I never had any trains - they weren't all that common in the shops, either, so I knew them only from the catalogues. But when I saw the Emerald Night, I immediately knew I had to have it. After that, it has all gone a bit crazy - the EN lead to a Super Chief, a BNSF, the Hobby Train set... and so on. But it all started with the Emerald Night.

Thanks for all the nice comments! It's very interesting how you seem to have different favourites :) Of course not! Just remember to keep on b... yeah, you know.

V-LV-46C, V-LV-46E & V-LV-46F, V-LC-15B Hi there - I thought I'd share some pictures of four of the latest city vehicles I've built. I tested out different designs in MLCad first, like I normally do, then ordered the bricks and built them - and then realised I could do with some stickers. These are really more or less my first MOC vehicles since coming out of my dark ages a couple of years ago. I've stuck to other people's design up to now, but I always enjoyed building cars when I was a kid, and wanted to relive some of that. I'm quite happy with the way all of these turned out, but the hot rod is my own personal favourite. It's not meant to look like any particular hot rod, and it's probably not as realistic as some of the other ones that are posted on this forum, but I like it. And the stickers was the icing on the cake. So, with no further ado (saving the best for last) I present: The softroader, or SUV. Not really much to say about that, but here's a couple of pictures: As you can see, I've used hinges for door mirrors, like TLC's own designers have done in recent City sets. The Neo-Classic Delivery Van is next. You may have seen it before, I posted some MLCad images to get your opinion on which version to brick-build. This is what I ended up with: I wanted to try to make something that could be a modern car, designed with a (very) retro feel. The suicide-style doors are a consequence of the design, but I thought I could get away with it in something so retro. The van carries some parcels for the driver to deliver. Number three in line is the Sport Coupé, with a yellow stripe running down the center of the car. I thought the colour combination was perfect for those doors, and I think the driver looks good in his vintage sweater :) I actually screwed up slightly when designing this in MLCad - originally, the bumper was going to be set one plate further back, but when I was going to build it I suddenly realised that there are no studs right below the grille to put that yellow 1x2 tile on, so I had to put a 1x4 dark bluish grey plate in between. That hurt the rear design more than the front, as I had originally designed the car with a 1x2 cheese slope where the rear number plate ended up. But I'm still happy with it. And then, finally, the Hot Rod, which I also think of as being based on a modern chassis, hence the modern wheels. I ordered the skull stickers on BrickLink, but if I'm not too badly mistaken they come from the Space Skulls set. I thought it was a neat idea to give the proud owner a matching leather jacket :) I also knew I wanted some flames, and searched for stickers that would fit the bill on BL. I'm happy with the result - and particularly that detail with the tiny skull sticker in the grille... This is the original MLCad design for the Hot Rod. If you want to see more pictures of these cars, including MLCad renderings of all four, you can have a look at the Flickr set. I've also made a Renault-style semi with a refrigerated trailer. But that'll have to wait for later - it takes a while to edit these images... :) Hope you enjoy my return to vehicle MOCing! Comments welcome :)

It's nice, but I can't help thinking you should have given some credit to Bryan Lyles over at Brick City Depot. Although you say you have seen many pictures on the web, it's pretty obvious that this one was your main inspiration: A copy of this, built with instructions purchased from Bryan, sits on my shelf and looks veeery similar. The original is for sale on Bryan's web page.

You do deserve the title as long as it's about hot rods. If you decide to interpret it differently, don't quote me :D
-
Great work - especially, as everybody else has said, for a second MOC! I'm not too keen on the exterior, but I can't quite pinpoint what I'd do differently. The interior, however, is amazing. I'm very fond of making detailed interiors myself, and I love all the furniture you've come up with. I think the ground floor is my favourite. Great job!
-
Yep, you are the Rodmaster! I love the way your hot rods are very similar, but still have the details that set them apart.
-
I agree. I own this set myself and that's what I thought when I built it. I voted for 'average' - mainly for one reason: The landing gear. It's ridiculously huge with that big arch piece and looks completely out of place if you 'swoosh' the plane around.
