  1. Let me just add to the praise. It's huge, it's realistic, and it's wonderfully detailed. Fabulous, and an architectural masterpiece in Lego bricks. All those window panels really make this thing stand out. And... I really love those decorational beams. Fantastic detail.
  2. Four Cars, Four Owners I'll show you a picture of the four latest MOC vehicles I've made: The Sport Coupé, the SUV, the Neo-Classic Delivery Van and the Hot Rod, with their respective owners.
  3. Just as great as the counterpart. Excellent job and wonderful details!
  4. No need to wait for Brickfactory to release the instructions. All set instructions dating back to 2002 (before any of the modular buildings were released) are available for download on Lego's own website, here. The instructions are released pretty much at the same time as the sets get available in the shops.
  5. Does it ever stop? :) You've really found your niche with these designer stores. Nobody does this as well as you do. Great work - as always!
  6. Really nice - it looks just like the real thing! I adore your layout, by the way. I only wish I had that kind of space available to show off my collection...
  7. Good question, and correct answer. It's flex tubing (or what BrickLink calls Hose, Rigid 3mm D). An even better solution could have been to skip the red cones entirely, and just use red flex tube with a piece of yellow string sticking out. I'll try that another time. I guess you're just more modest than John. He didn't feel the need to cover up :) Thanks for the nice compliments, all of you!
  8. I decided to submit an entry to the Be My Brickentine contest over at Flickr and Mocpages. I've never entered a Lego contest before, but only men were allowed to enter (the male chauvinist pig in me really liked that) and I thought I had a nice idea for an entry so I gave it a go. I designed the basic layout of the vignette in MLCad first, then ordered the bricks via BrickLink and put it together. It has been on my living room table for a few days now, and I finally got around to taking some pictures today - after all, the deadline for the contest is Monday (Valentine's Day). So here it is: John and Mary are going steady, and to celebrate Valentine's Day John decided to give her some nice presents: Some flowers, a box of chocolates... and himself in a black thong. Here's Mary's immediate reaction. Surprise! Blushing, are we? She wasn't expecting this when she came home from work. John does seem quite pleased with himself, though. Maybe it's because he knows that Mary loves those chocolates that come in the sand green box... ...or maybe it's because he has some kinky plans for later. What's that under the bed? And this is what eventually happened while I tried to photograph this scene. It's not entirely unlikely that this could happen in real life if such a scene took place, so I decided to snap a shot of that as well. Hope you like it. It's my first vignette, but I had fun building it and it might not be the last :) although next up from me will be two new modular buildings. Just need a few more bricks that are currently on their way... EDIT: Flickr gallery - Brickshelf gallery (when public).
  9. Nice. Well spotted! And just like that, Lego (inadvertently?) blew their own 'secret'...
  10. Very nice! There are several things to be impressed with here - the base, the railing for the porch, the roof - both on the tower and on that angle over the door - and I love that little porthole window :) Great work!
  11. Wonderful. I love it. I might have to join Brikkelauget and try to make it to an event just to see this up close :) We've previously seen this under construction, right? The colour combination works very well, with the dark red stripes around the building and the dark blue roof. I especially like the smaller top floor. Apart from that, I think my favourite part of this MOC is the actual fact that you came up with the idea of a wax museum. Great idea, great execution, shutinc!
  12. Ouch.
  13. Actually, I think that a complete set is the way to go, especially with the Super Chief. Some of the parts, like this, this, and not to mention this and the worst example of all: This part, make piecing it together through BrickLink a very, very expensive option - probably just as expensive as buying a complete set. I bought a second Super Chief before Christmas, and ended up with paying around $150 for it, which doesn't seem unreasonable. That was on BrickLink, and eBay tends to be a tad cheaper. The Santa Fe cars may be a better option if you're just buying the parts. I haven't checked out the BNSF, though. I also notice that you talk about buying the instructions. I'm assuming you'd want them because you're a collector, and not simply because you want to build the train, as they are readily available on several web sites, including Lego's own.
  14. Very nice, and instantly recognizable. As a petrolhead I have seen these before, but I have to admit that most of the time it has been one of those TV shows with crazy amateur videos. They do seem to crash a lot... :)
  15. Lovely! The concept is different than what I thought of for this contest, and it's nice to see somebody else's take on it. I'm going to have to post mine soon, I haven't taken the time to photograph it yet...
  16. Thanks for sharing! Hahah, that crash at the end is epic, in super slow motion. Love it! But it would be infinitely much better if they'd left out that unbelievably annoying 'HEY' that they insist on using everywhere.
  17. Like others have said, the newspaper stand is nice, and so is the statue. But that dog is fantastic! It's amazing to achieve something so instantly recognizable with no more than six bricks, none bigger than 1x1.
  18. I voted for this in the contest, and I agree that it looks even better now. I'm especially fond of the use of arches, both the dark tan one with PearlGold jumper plates above the entrance, and of course those car mudguards. Also like the guy cleaning snow off the platform - which is very nice in itself, built with log bricks. Looks very realistic. Can't wait to see it finished, with interior shots!

    MOC: Showers

This a very funny idea very well executed. Great job! That's a strange man, though, who doesn't remove his glasses before showering :) The green stripe along the walls does a lot for the overall look.
  20. I like it! The colours are nice and work well together, and the design is neat and not too cluttered (which is what I always want to achieve in my own MOCs but never seem to pull off). I'd cut down on the number of lion heads on the top floor - in my opinion, that's a bit over the top. I'd never use more than one in a 32-wide space. Then again, that's just me - but you did ask for opinions :)
  21. Nice. I think the sign suits the building slightly better :)

    MOC: Tow Truck

I really like the design on this one. It's butch and rough and macho, like a proper tow truck should be :) Well done!
  23. This is fantastic. A lovely design all over, with superb details, like that wonderfully smooth staircase. And the logo - well, the great thing with studying other people's MOCs is that you look at something and just go 'yeah, of course, that's the way to do that'. Everybody's learning from everybody :) As typos go, I think this one is rather good... I didn't spot the loo here, anyway :)
  24. That sign just changed radically :D - you probably changed the picture that was in the deeplink. Interesting, though, I wonder what the building would look like with that lunar rover on top...
  25. Wow - if they've already got it, it can't be too long before it's released. Better rethink my budget... can't wait!
