Well - your town hall is a nice building, but for me, the stars here are the add-ons to the 'set'. The tree and fountain is lovely, the statue is nice, and the Ape is great! Best of luck in the competition!

I like! A very nice compact truck, and the two shades of blue work very well as accent colours.

I'm not surprised at all. I'm a journalist, and we are notoriously lazy. And do you have any idea how boring doing research is?

I haven't been keeping up with EB for a few days, so I've missed out on this, although I've left a quick comment on Flickr - but seeing as you and I build similar stuff I feel I should repeat my praise here: It's gorgeous. The shape of it is wonderful, with its rounded corners, the colours are great and the detailing is very, very impressive. The exterior is very nice, but the interior is obviously the real star feature - the furniture is fantastic. The counter, the jukebox, the coffee machine... and the curved sign on the roof is also pretty neat. Not to mention your hot rod pickup truck, which looks absolutely cracking. Well done. Very well done!

That is indeed a very nice pickup truck, and the addition of the train wheels makes it much more versatile than just a regular pickup. With that grille it reminds me somewhat of a VW Amarok. Well done!

There is some very inventive parts usage here, and all three creations look great. Well done!

These are really great. As a journalist, I'm no stranger to artwork and graphics, and you've got some serious skills! The ideas for the ad campaigns are great as well - as others have mentioned, the one with the foot is something everybody who's ever built with LEGO can relate to. I hope you'll share some more later!

These are great! Well done on capturing the essence of so many different news stories. You should have tweaked this one, though - I've never seen a podium that has the silver medalist on the winner's left hand side...

In case you didn't know: The text on that box is Swedish. "Plastbygglådan" means "The plastic building box". In Norwegian, it would be different.

I totally agree with you on that amazing waterfall creation. I snuck away from the AFOL night on Saturday to have a long look around the hall with less people around, and I was just mesmerised by the beauty of that thing. It's absolutely gorgeous (and massive!), and pictures obviously don't do it justice by any means. That medieval diorama is fantastic as well, especially the river and all the houses mounted at different angles. I've got some Fanwelt pictures of my own that I need to upload to Flickr. There was so much to look at - and take pictures of :)

I really like this church - of all the MOC churches I've seen that are intended to fit with the WV series, this is my definite favourite. It's just about perfect. And the hinged design is a very nice touch. There's still a lot of time left in the contest, so I won't promise that you'll have my vote, but entries that want to get my points will have to be very good from now on :D

Something like this has been on my to do-list for a long time now; a terminal station built like this that can go into a row of modulars without looking out of place. And you've done it very, very well - the exterior is fantastic, and the interior has some lovely details. I also very much like the Routemaster bus - instantly recognisable!
-
This is very, very nice - like your other buildings. I love the exterior details on the left and right side of the facade, especially the (limited) use of masonry bricks and the grooves you've made on either side of them using the log bricks facing sideways. The interior is also great, as always - that telephone bench is my favourite detail on the inside. Well done!

MOC: Postal Service at Work Before Christmas

There's a very funny detail that I particularly like in that first picture :D -
I normally don't feel like commenting on digital designs, because they rarely look all that good - but this one is a very nice one. I'd love to see this brick-built - it'd look just as nice without those icicles, so that's an easy way around that design problem.
-
This really is a wonderful building. There are so many great details that it's hard to know where to start. I was very impressed with the exterior at first (the shutters have been mentioned, and do look very nice - and the dark blue roof works very well with the tan walls), but then I realised that you'd put a full interior in - and what an interior it is! Those tile patterns on the ground floor really are spectacular. The kitchen and bathroom are great, and the living room looks so cozy with the fireplace and all. The piano on the top floor is gorgeous as well. But what impresses me the most is the fact that you've even built a studs-down decorative pattern for the ceiling. Now that's attention to detail - I don't think I've ever seen that before! Only your second build since your return to LEGO, you say? Wow. I'm looking forward to your next one!
-
Then I'll disagree with the last poster - I think it looks much better the way you've designed it, zeki! It's true that it does look a bit strange when the front wheels are that wide, but that might be possible to fix by using some 1-wide wheels instead of those 2-wide ones. Apart from that, it's a very nice job.

People are bidding TOO HIGH on my Lego!
L@go replied to Nintendawg's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, seeing as Cologne is about 1,000 kilometres (600 miles) from where I live - in a straight line - I'm not entirely sure it would be worth it when you calculate the travel cost, even if there's money to be made on the sets :D And by the way, not to stray too much off topic: I agree with Ecclesiastes here. This is a genuine case of demand and supply - as long as the price is decided by people bidding, there's absolutely no need to feel bad about it. -
MOC : Architecture-like OneWTC and 9/11 Memorial
L@go replied to DanSto's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's very good at that scale, and pretty impressive when you look at the crazy angles on the real thing. I can't really see how you could do it much better. Great job!- 19 replies

People are bidding TOO HIGH on my Lego!

I posted in this topic yesterday, but I guess my post got lost in that ten-hour black hole... so here I go again: Interesting topic! This set intrigued me when it came out. Not because of the theme - I've never played Minecraft - but because it looks neat, has a nice box - plus, I've got the two first Cuusoo sets. I wouldn't have been interested in paying crazy inflated prices, but I noticed it for sale during the Fan Weekend in Skærbæk in late September, and made a mental note to go and get it. But by the time I remembered, the sets were all gone. And then this happened: A couple of hours later, I walked past a second-hand store in Billund, just a stone's throw from LEGO HQ. In the window I spot a Minecraft box. It turned out to be a perfect second-hand one, in near-mint condition, re-sealed with Scotch tape that leaves no residue, complete with all parts - even the extra ones - and instructions. And the price? I paid 1/45 of that: 12 Danish kroner. About 2 US dollars, or €1.50. Proof: Has it really? I spotted several sets for sale in the LEGO Store in Cologne last weekend. I guess I should have bought a couple... :) -
Which event? I'd love to have a look at this :)

There's not much to say that I haven't already said in the topics you've had leading up to this one, apart from that it looks absolutely astonishing when put together like this. It's one of the best town dioramas I've seen, and probably the very best one placed in a specific time setting. I very much wish I'd had the possibility to be there and study it up close, but thanks for the nice pictures! Are you keeping this together for a while or is it going to be broken down?
-
I really like both this and your transport truck. This has a front end design that's similar to the official LEGO trucks, but different enough to stand out. The tiles on the container sides are also very nice, and I love how you've followed the Toy Story truck colour scheme. A great garbage truck that would look good in any layout!

We got delayed quite a bit because of bad traffic and didn't make it to the hall until three minutes before seven - so we didn't get to set up our stuff yesterday. Instead, we got up at 6.30 today to go and set up now... yawn. So sorry (and so annoyed!) to have missed you!
