Yep At step 113 it becomes apparent why the 4L cannot have the stop at the top. Having completed the build I have to say this is a fantastic Technic set. It is really densely built with no wasted space and some fun little techniques used to get pinholes or axles in all directions. Its a great parts pack too, lots of gears and some nice parts I didn't already have. Id recommend this over yet another car anytime!

Got this set for Xmas and crept downstairs this morning to start the build. Step 15 makes my technic senses tingle, is the 4L with stop really supposed to just sit on the UJ? Or is this something where later on it becomes better held in place. If I can swap it out for 99008 4L with centre stop now would be the time...

I'd welcome some feedback for what should be a fairly simple build. I want to drive 4 outputs with the minimum of motors. I've come up with this using 2 wavy selectors and 2 driving rings. Short yellow axle through the orange beam is the input (motor 1), yellow knob wheel drives the selectors at 90° apart (motor 2), long grey and yellow axles with 16T gears are outputs. So first question, is there anything blindingly obvious that would make this a smoother more compact build? Have I missed the Lego set which already did this but better? Second query is how to drive the selectors. I want a 90° axle rotation for each function. This is going to be Control Plus powered. Can I program the motor to turn 90° and stop or do I have to build a stepper? As always any help gratefully received

I think your finished bus may end up well over 10 kg and standard Lego suspension might struggle. It might be better to try and replicate just the ferry lift and tag axle movements. I have a vague idea about using some form of cams. The cams can't be attached directly to the hub carrier but need to slide to avoid front to back movement. In this arrangement the single tan axle drives one end of the carrier (tag axle lift) and the axles linked with gears drive both ends (ferry lift). Using one of the solutions provided by @Divitis would allow both functions to be driven by one motor.

Yep. Anything like that pretty much needs to planned before building starts. However, I've just read the thread from the beginning and it seems like you aren't scared of making revisions so who knows what the next version might have I didn't realise it has been 4 years since you started! Is it something you do a bit on, then do some other stuff for a while then come back to or are you always thinking about the next build stage?

Not wishing to get too nerdy but a Citaro would be a bus, a coach would be something like a Tourismo. And yes, both the Citaros and Tourismos I have driven have knelt.

Not hugely classic but currently trying to sort out sets from offsprings Lego city collection (2008-2015 ish). In the case of big sets like fire and police stations chunks are still intact so I use those first, then look for parts that are similar i.e. correct jumper plates, tiles with grooves etc. then finish with whatever is available from bricklink or PAB. Everything is for my display only so I'm not too fussy but if I was buying an expensive old set I'd want original or period correct pieces only. Having said that I have been looking at mould numbers when I have more than one prospective part so maybe it does matter just a little

So quite a compact set then. It helped when I realised the LAs were the small ones. At the right price I could see myself buying this.

Are these the same wheels and tyres as in the old 42030 L350F? My tired eyes are struggling to get an idea of size

Does anyone recognise what this might have started as? Interesting features include rear step. DBG grille tiles on cab. Black axles with yellow plates. I know it isn't 7268 Prisoner transport but possibly from the same era as that and 7236 Police car As always any help getting some of these older sets back together much appreciated. EDIT: It's 7245 Prisoner transport I was looking at trans black windscreens but apparently its trans brown.

@Stereo Yep, further investigation has turned up this guy so I think you nailed it! Also thanks again to @Black Falconwho clearly knows how to choose just the right features to search in bricklink It looks like most of the tub is CMFs and polybag builds, no 99% complete Imperial Flagship today.

Found a load of little micro builds in a box, would love to know if they belong together. Also what i think was a fire car as the minifig was a firefighter circa 2008? Also random minifigs. Do any of them suggest sets that might be in the box? As always any help or suggestions gratefully received

I immediately thought of 92177 Ship in a bottle but perhaps driftwood might be easier as a base. I feel large transparent pieces lose some of their impact when placed together due to the opaque stud/anti stud sections. Panels in a frame almost like a greenhouse might look good though.

This popped up on my YouTube suggestions and I wondered if it was being discussed here but couldn't find anything so thought I'd start a thread. Anyone else following? Looks like a fun build and I'm sure we might have comments based on our own building styles. I'd be using an axle in part two's aerial for a start.

@StereoGood spot, I didnt even notice that the yellow bonnet was in fact another roof! 1590 would be nice to find. I'm told the Lego was at least two generations so it could easily be sets from the eighties and the noughties.

@RunamuckI think you've nailed it! If all the parts for 6253 are present that would be a pretty cool find.

Anyone recognise these bits from a big box of Lego? I'm pretty sure the yellow cab is MOC. The red chassis looks like it wants to be a series Land Rover. All help gratefully received.

Yep, pieces that are added are edged in green. Sometimes my aging eyes could make it out, sometimes not... In this instruction however the pieces related to the arrows are not edged in green. Thus my confusion. I did try pinching and stretching the picture to make it bigger but it turns out that doesn't work with actual paper

Instruction no. 791 p.209 Two yellow arrows indicate the blue pins should be pushed in. What is the third yellow arrow indicating? Have I missed something?

To test my theory I've just shown one of the pics to a friend and they did get Land Rover straight away so job done I managed to get 42177 today for £120, I'll build the G500 first and then on to this. @gyenesvi Well done on making this a B model. Were there any areas you had to make a sacrifice to keep it all one set? If I already had lots of parts would you recommend any small changes?

What a great model, I was not sure i was going to purchase this set but the amount and quality of b models has convinced me. Now to try and find a bargain... The instructions seem good too with clear colour differences between DBG and Black, something my old eyes appreciate I must say at first glance I too thought it was very similar but I wonder if that is down to the colour and Lego fans being familiar with the existing set? If I showed the picture to a non Lego car person I think they'd get Defender straight away.

One of our kitty cats went missing for a few days recently, leading me to look at some air tags or similar tech for tracking them. I'm looking for something small and accurate but there are lots of choices all seemingly very similar. Does anyone have experience of the various types? Currently an Android household but willing to pick up a cheap old iPhone if needed... Any help in keeping my kitties safe appreciated
