  1. I've just added yet another user to my ignore list. I found myself thinking "Surely the whole world doesn't think like this person?" but perhaps it does and now I'm the dinosaur Please consider my application for the Older Than Dirt club whilst I go off to yell at clouds.
  2. I'm placing a bricks and pieces order and I thought I'd grab some new diffs. Apart from 65414 diff housing and 65413 diff gear 28z what else should I get? (I've got plenty of the little gears) Also any other recent parts I should throw in the basket?
  3. In line 3 cylinder with one cylinder hidden behind the bodywork perhaps?
  4. Thanks for the heads up, I've watched all the variations we get on E4 (English only, no Blockbuster: Genius brick battle) and I think Australia is my favourite set of hosts
  5. In the UK you would give a right hand signal as you went around the roundabout if your exit was past 12 o'clock, changing to a left hand signal when you passed the prior exit. No signal on entry to the roundabout could be assumed to mean you are exiting at 12 o'clock. Unless you are one of those "innit bruv" types with your Insta tag plastered over the windscreen and a pops and bangs remap. Then you enter and exit the roundabout without touching any indicators as a plume of fruity vape smoke billows out of your illegally tinted windows and then you absolutely floor it until you reach the next roundabout 50 yards away BRRRRMMMM!!!!!! POP POPP POPP PPOPPOP!!!!!
  6. Supported! The film is a firm favourite in this house and you've really captured it well with the details in the base. Good luck
  7. I currently hold the world record for most Lego pieces kept in my spare bedroom if that helps?
  8. JBL Go Essential. Currently £24.99 at Argos item no. 117 1402. It's a really nice fit if you remove the rubber band phone holder (all easily done) and sounds decent too. I put it with the speaker facing the grille. It's thin enough that the original radio back still fits too. If I was feeling really keen I'd remove the 2921 LBG 1x1 modified brick as well. Then you could rotate the speaker 90° for easy access to the charger port. You could even fit a small power bank in too.
  9. That's a very satisfying thing to watch Nice work.
  10. Thanks to @Carsten Svendsen for the explanation. So in the example below the cylinders currently push to lower the heavy yellow panel box, then have to pull and fight gravity to raise it back to vertical. They would be more efficient attached to the bottom mounting point.
  11. Next question, are pneumatic cylinders stronger pushing or pulling? Instinct says its easier to suck air out than push it in but I suppose they should be equal as you are always pushing the air into either half.
  12. Hmm, I don't usually buy sets anymore as I have enough Lego (according to my wife) but having read the thread and seen the racingbrick video I'm actually tempted by this now. It looks like the functions it has are easy to demonstrate and the decision not to do another defender gearbox was the right one IMO. Most of my sets get parted out for MOCs but I could see this staying built as a display piece because I like G wagens.
  13. What a fantastic choice of subject! I think the 80s square styling will lend itself well to Lego. To me these are incredibly cool cars ever since our rich uncle took us out in his new Rolls Royce Silver Spur. I remember the mascot being spring loaded. Sadly not a feature of the Bentley equivalent though. These can be surprisingly affordable to buy £5000 ebay Bentley but I've always suspected not cheap to run. Until it broke it would be a magnificent place to waft about in though.
  14. What do we think about 3rd party LEDs? I want to add some blinky lights but I could just leave them turned off for the judging...
  15. This looks like something you would build just to see if it was possible. I'm eager to see what it turns out like.
  16. There's no real need as I'm not motorising the drivetrain. I fear the axle may have to go in order to make room for the pistons. On the other hand perhaps I should push myself to find a solution rather than the easy option.
  17. Update. I tend to build mechanisms in isolation and then connect them so I made a fun leaf spring rear axle and a basic front axle and joined them together. Then started work on the sign board getting the range of the pneumatics right. Did the same for the crash cushion. At this point (due to the fact I build things piecemeal) it becomes apparent that the rear axle and crash cushion mount collide and a single large cylinder is not beefy enough to raise the heavy cushion. Also I now realise I've put the sign where the lightboard should be. Good job the deadline is September
  18. I've wanted to do one of these for a while and even mocked some stuff up using the classic 62.4x20 tyre. By entering the contest I'm hoping to push myself a bit with the smaller scale and give myself the incentive to finish a build As per the rules here are some pics showing actual progress (a little) The chassis is bare bones and easy to resize so I can play about with wheelbase and track. It's going to be longer I think. I might try and look at prototype vehicles for a rough scale. It's not going to be RC so no drive or steering motors. Just HOG steering and then 3 or 4 functions. The gearbox appeals to the Technic in me but pneumatics might give me more control over speeds. More progress soon I hope. This sort of thing
  19. Good point. I've added a couple of frames for bracing. The grey 5L beam is a placeholder for the moment.
  20. Yellow is the input shaft, I want 4 separate switchable outputs (the 4 red gears). Is this an optimal solution or am I missing a trick?
  21. Nice use of rhe blades but will they hold the weight of a container? I didn't know that! I'm going to have to order some.
  22. I reckon this thread will end up as a data set for AI. This seems to be an increasing trend on a number of forums I frequent. A poster with zero post count trying hard to appear like a human (re: choice of username, avatar etc.) pops up and starts a thread with a generic style of question (Who's the best Star Wars ship?) and never posts again as the discussion goes on. WAKE UP SHEEPLE!!
  23. Aww man! I'd just started on my Elephant too It was going to have 4 wheels...
  24. The tyres chosen lend themselves to smaller scale builds so this competion has definitely got me thinking what I could build. It's been a while since I dusted off my bricks but this may be the kick start I need
