  1. I don't think there will be "prices per stand" as such, if you want to exhibit you will need to register for the event and this cost has not been finalised. Registration details are planned to be finalised this month (Feb). Dr Rod
  2. We are keeping SydLUG from being associated with the event for various reasons and not all SydLUG members are on the organising committee. Having said that, I expect most SydLUG members will be exhibiting. We hope to have registrations open within the month. Dr Rod There is most likely going to be a Star Wars display area, I am not a display coordinator though. Keep an eye on the website and this thread. Dr Rod I would recommend making it for the evening AFOL event, skip the crowds, play some games, listen to some talks... Stay tuned... Dr Rod
  3. Great stuff, Dr Rod (and his lovely assistant of course) are looking forward to the ball. It has been a long time since I had aligator tail. Oleg, DrRod
  4. Excellent, welcome aboard!! our ranks grow once more!! Dr Rod
  5. Dr Rod has sent forth his mighty gladiator, Killer Bunny!! A result of Dr Rod's alchemical tinkering using blood from the original killer bunny of Caerbannog, the Killer Bunny is a force to be reckoned with. Her strength, power and calm ferociousness should not be underestimated!!! The original killer bunny of Caerbannog Dr Rod
  6. I believe there is snow in some areas, the mountains are high but maybe where there is lava there is no snow... Dr Rod
  7. The Sydney L Gauge Group (SLGG) has displayed at the Australian Model Railroad Association's (AMRA) Sydney show for a few years now (previously as the SLTC). I am fairly new to the group and have only displayed for two years, but in 2011 we won the peoples choice award for the first time!! We made an effort to make a highly detailed layout and it was very popular with the public. Numerous model railroaders had a good look and we got very positive feedback. The Lego trains attract the kids to the show and this is a good thing for the model railroading hobby. Flickr SLGG Dr Rod
  8. Splendid piece of work, and I don't even like LDD builds ;) Dr Rod
  9. Excellent, I'll take a stroll down the path later and check it out ;) DrRod
  10. Hmm, maybe we should be Nocturnites like the deadites in Army of Darkness. If you haven't seen it you really should as it is quite relvant for our guild). All the other guilds generally end in "ian" so maybe we should adopt something different... DrRod
  11. Grreting Lord Xyver, Dr Rod welcomes your proposal. There is a small trading centre (some warehouse type buildings, a small inn for traders to stay at and a guard house )in the mountains a short distance from the watchtower I built. The area is rocky, there could be some dark forest here too. the area is quite rocky, paths would be made of stone, not much soil around at this area but there is some. I will be building this area over the coming months so don't have any pisctures to help you sorry. Dr Rod
  12. This is a very nice map, can you add on Port Wrath, it is a trading port on the North western coast of Nocturnus, it is on the little peninsula of land due south of the "w" in Malarakis Swamps. There are also dark forests around the foothills of the Rakath Mountains south west of Port Wrath. Does our Guild leader and other Nocturnians approve of the map? Dr Rod
  13. Cool, the first embassy posting!! I will probably leave it to the last minute again. Busy sorting, I have about 50k parts that need sorting and I hate it. Nice cobblestones & I like the fact you've included a Kalaphlinian building next door. DrRod
  14. Dr Rod's thoughts on Nocturnus... Dr Rod is a human alchemist who has retreated to the Rakath mountains to conduct his research more privately than would be possible in some other regions. He is not evil as such, but some other humans are keen to steal his work on the mysterious alchemical secrets of longevity and Nocturnus is a reasonably safe haven... He creates potions and elixers that are of use to his fellow nocturnians so they tolerate his presence more than your average human... Dr Rod has an army of human soldiers (they wear the dark green dragon uniform). These soldiers are loyal to DrRod for the potions they are given and are well paid. Dr Rod, has a mining partnership with dwarves (North Rakath Mining Collective - NRMC)and a trading partnership with a group of humans called the North Rakath Trading Company (NRTC). Very original names ;). The NRMC chiefly mines gold, gems and sulphur. The NRTC trades mostly with Mitgardians, but also with Avalonians and Kaliphians (by sea). The chief trading centres under Dr Rod's control are outside his mountain hideout, in the dark forests of Northern Nocturnus and within an embassy in the Mitgardian town of Hykerbia. My builds will be mostly dark and rocky as they will centre around his mountain retreat but will also include builds near the northen borders of Nocturnus where there are dark forests. The NRTC operates a trading port on the northen coast of Nocturnus near the Mitgardian border called Port Wrath. My embassy is being built in the Mitgardian town of Hykerbia. I have many builds planned related to the areas and features described above. Dr Rod has no religion as he is a scientist ;) I will be building some dark forest scenes sited in northern Nocturnus at some stage, probably not for a couple of months though... Too many other plans at the moment :) Dr Rod
  15. Go for it Zilcho, get your avatar and troops up. DrRod What do you want to talk about? how we don't talk ? Dr Rod has some stuff coming, been on a bit of a sorting mission, of sorts... ;) Things I have planned for the near future: Mitgardian Embassy. Trading scene outside my watchtower. A peek inside Dr Rod's sanctuary... DrRod
  16. Hykerbia sounds perfect, nice and close to Dr Rod's lair in the Northern reaches of the Rakath Mtns and a logical place for his traders to build a trade house/embassy. I shall send gifts to show my appreciation for the DA approval soon I will get my architect working, I think the Victorian style of glass and bricks you mention will be influential... Dr Rod
  17. I will be building a Nocturnus embassy in the South East of Mitgardia, not sure what cities they have there, something along a trade route I imagine... Any Mitgardians help me out here?? I think Nocturnus will be a bit difficult to build embassies in, there is a "capital" of sorts but not too many "cities". There is of course "Lith My'athar" (Lith My'athar), but you would be a brave soul to build an embassy there. ;) I am planning on developing the area in front of my watchtower (Dr Rod's Watchtower) as a trade centre over the next 4-6 weeks. A small embassy could fit in there perhaps, the area is very rocky like the rock areas in my watchtower. Dr Rod
  18. I will be making an "embassy" of sorts in Mitgardia, just over the border. Kind of a sanctuary for Nocturnians on the Nocturnus/Mitgardian trade route in the foothills of the Rakath Mtns. Dr Rod
  19. Hi Fellow Nocturnians, I've made a Flickr group for us to collate Nocturnian builds. http://www.flickr.com/groups/nocturnus/ It is invite only as I want to keep it so only Nocturnians can post images to it. It is public viewable though. Any discussion is private amongst the group... If you don't get sent an invite in the next day or so, let me know your flickr name & I'll send you one. Dr Rod
  20. I agree we need to get the map fleshed out with locations of our towers, other landmarks. The idea of each guild member getting some land is good, I've always figured Dr Rod has an area of the Rakath Mountains, a day or so march from the coast near the northern border with Mitgardia. It makes sense as he is human and would probably not venture too far within Nocturnus ;) In the region around Dr Rod lives some dwarves and I will be making a scene with them soon. I stole Thrash's map and edited on the area I am "claiming". I am working on a trading scene and the dwarven scene. Ultimately all the smaller scenes will come together as one 6x4 32baseplate scene. Dr Rod
  21. I like interiors and if you are going to physically display the model then they really add to the MOC. My Nocturnus tower has an interior, took a couple of extra hours to incorporate and it does make the build more complex, and I haven't even bothered to photograph the interior yet!! I will take some interior shots shortly though.
  22. Cool ;) Lots of detail and the idea of the hot springs is great. Good to see the trade aspect brought into it too. Dr Rod
  23. I'm loving the progression of the werewolves story and their expansion!! DrRod
  24. Death's Breath is still intact but has been boxed away. Too many other things been built in the last year. Some day she will get completed, probably within the next year. Oleg, Dr Rod
  25. Greetings fellow Nocturnians. So the tower is made, what now? I am starting a small trading scene then onto making Dr Rod's main lair. I think I am going to make it in sections, post a section every month or so and slowly bring the whole scene together. A question for our guild leader; if I make a MOC and post it, can I then enter it later is a challenge is started that it would be suited to?? I would like Nocturnus to also get a map finalised (like Thrash's ) that we can start adding the location of our MOCS onto. Dr Rod lives in the northern reaches of the Rakath mountains, close to the border with Mitgardia and a day or so march from the coast. What are other people making or planning? Oleg, Dr Rod
