  1. Hi fellow Nocturnites, I have been rather busy as one of the organisers of the Sydney Brick Show that is on in 5 weeks!! Got three builds on the burner for that, but come the 3rd June I have 4 weeks set aside for a free build for Nocturnus, that will be shown at BrickExpo in Canberra. Dr Rod's spies report that there has been a strange lack of chickens in Mitgardia, rumours are they have all headed to Avalonia Oleg, DrRod
  2. Nocturnites, I don't know how much I'll be building in the next 2-3 months either, got to build 3 things for the Sydney Brick Show and work is as busy as it ever gets!! Think I'm going to sit out the third challenge and make some small free builds instead to help develop the Nocturnus environment. Oleg, DrRod
  3. Hee hee!! Dr Rod
  4. Fishpond are quite notorious for lying about their shipping times. I ordered a couple of sets about 3 weeks ago that were "in stock ships within 24hrs". Both items went through the normal "We are having problems sourcing the items" crap, they offer to let you cancel. My advice is not to cancel, unless you are in a rush. I always figure the items will take about 3 weeks from Fishpond and only buy when I can get 25% discount. Dr Rod
  5. A great unique build Angeli!! Loving the little jellyfish guys! Dr Rod
  6. Nice observation, us Nocturnites obviously have greater staying power!! I have so many things I want to make but so many other things I need to be building for the "Sydney Brick Show" I'm going to try and get a few 32 baseplate or smaller Nocturnus MOCS out there in the next couple of months. The second half of the year however is much more free. Dr Rod
  7. Woah... it has taken a few days for my head to recover. From what I recall, it was indeed an excellent ball, awesome food (the Ostrich head was so tender!!), sensational mead, great company and a beautiful location and ball room. Looking forward to next year!! Dr Rod
  8. Dr Rod decided to establish his embassy in the "rapidly growing urbanised Victorian style with glass and bricks" part of Hykerbia. I liked the idea of the "modernised" section of Hykerbia, it is a trading port and there would likely be a bit of money around... Next door is a trade office for the North Rakath Trading Company (NRTC), a successful trading group of which Dr Rod is part owner. I have MOCS planned for the NRTC in the next few months... Dr Rod
  9. Dr Rod has no problem with said proposal, nor does his lovely assistant!! Dr Rod
  10. Oh dear... I would not want to run in to KB any time soon.. she is going to be livid she didn't win that pink armor!! Dr Rod
  11. They are dark red and I used around 350 on the embassy. I did the rear too, even though it can't be seen in the photos!! I have 1000 of them, got a big roof coming for Dr Rod's Rakath Mtns lair some time Dr Rod
  12. Fellow Nocturnites, I forgot to post my embassy here: Embassy thread Make sure you drop in if you are in Hykerbia!! Dr Rod
  13. Thanks for all the comments folks!! I have been wanting to make a roof with those bricks for a few months, glad I finally got my act together!! The roof is made from these: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=47457 Some thief has bought most of the dark red ones though!! I have plans for a bigger building using the same roof tiling system (with about 1000 of these) for Dr Rod's lair. I actually built the entire rear of the roof too, but none of the photos show it!! Dr Rod
  14. Dr Rod has received word that construction has completed on his embassy located in the coastal town of Hykerbia, on the South Eastern border of Mitgardia. Ths embassy is designed to reflect the moods and character of Nocturnus, as well as to fit in with the Architecture of Hykerbia. Tomcat's description of Hykerbia is below: Our climate is temperate with a sea port view on your porch, snow cap mountain in your backyard and expansive farmland just outside the walls. The city is a mix of old historical medieval style of wood, rock and mortar, Nordic and Dwarvish homesteads and a rapidly growing urbanised Victorian style with glass and bricks. The embassy is available for all Nocturnians to visit, the Nocturnian vegetation, lava and swamp features should make any Nocturnians feel right at home. A couple of members of the North Rakath Mountains Trading Company are discussing a trade deal with a local Mitgardian dwarf, a couple of orcs have just entered and Lord Mocka the cat watches over all visitors. The embassy is particularly attractive after hours when the true beauty of the Nocturnian lava and swamp features can be appreciated. Oleg, Dr Rod

  20. My Killer Bunny would love to eat the kitty!! Dr Rod I do believe that there was only ever one holy hand grenade of Antioch, and those Monty Python folk destroyed it!! Dr Rod
  21. My Killer Bunny has reported back that she is particularly keen on that pink armour, it better come in her size WHEN she wins!!! ;) By the way, please ensure she has plenty of giant carrots to eat, otherwise she will likely start eating whatever else she can find about the place... Dr Rod
  22. Awesomeness Angeli!! Very tall, love the long stair case and cloud piercing tower!! Dr Rod
  23. Very nice, I shall have to come for a visit and see it for myself. Like the bushes and all round attention to detail Dr Rod
  24. Nice little scene, fleshing out Nocturnus!! Water is nice, perhaps add a couple of clear elements to the water to help simulate rapids? Dr Rod
  25. I agree, our fellow Nocturnites have been doing well to define the land and its inhabitants. sort, sort, sort ,sort... bored with sorting, need to get building!! I should have an embassy pic up soon, not very happy with it so far but have decided to run with it and not pull it down. So many other things lined up to build, I aim to produce a MOC or two a month to flesh out the land around Dr Rod's retreat, have things I am building for the Sydney Brick show (June 2/3) too though so I don't expect to be too productive until the second half of the year... Fellow Nocturnites, if you are in Australia and thinking of coming to the Sydney Brick Show or BrickExpo, drop me a message, I am thinking a Nocturnus layout would look nice.. Dr Rod
