  1. Name: High Speed Train Set No.: 4511 Theme: LEGO / SYSTEM / Trains / 9v / Train Set Year: 2003 Pieces: 324 Minifigs: 3 Price (when it was in stores): USD 80,-$ (which equals about EUR 79,-€) Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 120,-$ (which equals about EUR 100,-€) Lets try to write a review of a 9v train. Before I write, lets see some pic's first. Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one This set is the last elec 9v train form lego. When mine sources are correct, this model is based of a train from Japan. What is very different of this train, when you compare with other sets, is the color of this train. I guess this is the first white train form lego, with a little green stripe on it. It looks very fast and it has a great big window for the driver. On the wagon there's a little container, where luggage can be stored during the trip. It's a complete trainset with a small station, a circle track and a speedregulator. You buy the set, build it up and let the fun begin. A great set to start a huge layout with, wasn't that lego decided to stop with elec 9v.......... I have to tell a little another story about this train. Personally, I love the white color of this train and bought this set for this reason. As a trainfan I missed the classic traindoors . I wonder how lego had in mind in which way the minifigs had to get on or off this train. I decided to buy 2 white traindoors form bricklink and modify this set with these traindoors. That's why the train had to be raised with 1 brick. I also wanted an orginal set behind this train, so everyone can see what exactly I have done. Here you can see what exactly the difference is between the set of LEGO and mine version. Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one Now let's see mine version a bit closer: Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one What does like the inside of the train looks like: Click on pic to get a bigger one Like the 12v area, you can also make a second model of it: Click on pic to get a bigger one Playability: 8/10 (It has all pieces and parts to play and have fun.) Design: 6/10 (A unknow model, which won't be recognised by many people) Price: 7/10 (It has track and speedregulator with, so those 80 euro is good value for money at that time.) Overall: 7/10 (Although model is unknown, it has a good look and you can play right away.) I hope you like my review of this set, although mine modificated version was used for the pic's. I think this modificated version give a nice extra demension to this set. Although there are pictures that people have changed the green stripe for a red one, to give it the look of an europian high speed train. I guess when lego had used this red stripe instead of green one, it would sell even better. A final pic where Darth Vader and his Sith Master want to get a ride with this train. It must be a special one, if those people want a travel with this train : Click on pic to get a bigger one
  2. Indeed very cool to look at. And pink isn't mine favourite color too. With a real working lift. Good job .
  3. I won't care if PF-motors are the strongest motors of all legotrains. Batteries will be empty one day and that's for me a very big disavantage. But batterytrains have their advantages, wireless, seperate controlled trains, huge (I mean huge) layout possible, very handy for shows/meetings, most reliable system and you can make 'short circuit' layouts.
  4. Added mine model, 'De Wadloper'. Shame I haven't not more pic's of it yet.
  5. I build this train a little time ago, but I would like to enter this contest for train building. It's actually the only train I ever build on my own creation. It's a little dieseltrain, used on low population area's. That would be north of Holland. Because the sea above north of Holland and the islands is called 'De Wadden', the train is called after this sea as 'The Wadwalker'. It's out of service end 2008 and be replaced by a less maintance and cheaper train. My demands were that this train had the same size as the 12v trains of grey area. That means, max 32 studs long and 6 studs wide. It was easily to build the train, while the real one is like a long box. Only the front was difficult to give it the look. Currently I'm busy to re-organize my brickshelfaccount and I have not more pic's of this train yet. I had a little acident, where I lost my balance and sit on 'De Wadloper' . I still need to repair and replace the damaged bricks. When this is done, I will make many pic's of this great, maybe forgotten train of the north of Holland. Hopefully this pic us enough for the contest. I will also found more detail information about this train, after uploading the pic's to brickshelf. This is the model I made: Click on pic for a bigger one And this is the real one: Click on pic for a bigger one
  6. Those windows can also be found in set 7727, 7730 and 7810.
  7. I like theatre most. I still don't have this set, should be bought one day..........
  8. It's a great set, if you modify it like this: Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one In this way you can know how long your layout is and how fast a train can. I don't know the max.speed anymore. The battery is dead for 2 years. Still need to get a new one . Well I hope you get in near future trains which you are habby with.
  9. I admire your building skills. This train looks very to the real one. You've used indeed very interesting snotbuilding and other technics. You've also a layout where this train can run? Keep up the good building . And welcome to eurobricks.
  10. Name: Steam Engine Set No.: 7750 Theme: LEGO / SYSTEM / Trains / 12v / Train Set Year: 1980 Pieces: 255 Minifigs: 2 Price (when it was in stores): USD 75$ (which equals about EUR 53€) Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 400$ (which equals about EUR 300€) First some pic's of the train itself: Click on pic for bigger one The right side: Click on pic for bigger one The left side: Click on pic for bigger one And the workplace of the driver: Click on pic for bigger one And this is the second model you can build of the stones of set 7750: It's hard to make a good review of this train. This train has many rare pieces, which make the train very expensive as a complete set. This train was released in 1980, but it hasn't track and (mini)station. If you had to buy the tracks and speedregulator seperatly, it makes an expensive gift for parents to give to their child. Properly, that's why set 7740 sold much better. Nevertheless, this train looks very good. It has a tender, as a steamengine should be. The wheels are bigger then the standaard ones. For a real 12v fan, it's a train you must have in your collection. This makes it properly also expensive. Enough talk about this, this train should been seen . As an owner of this train, I'm very proud to have this set. Because I paid enough for this set, it hasn't run much last 2 years. Recently it runs beautifully at my layout with 2 reefer wagons of JH McKee. Click on pic for bigger one Click on pic for bigger one The stones which are used are standard, but red bougies plates can only be found in this set. If you make this set in other colors, like a Hogwarts theme. Click on pic for bigger one The right side: Click on pic for bigger one The left side: Click on pic for bigger one This was the first design I made: I made actually a copy of set 4708, which you can see here: The inside of the train itself, which is the same of set 4708: Click on pic for bigger one Inside of the wagons: Click on pic for bigger one Click on pic for bigger one And here you can see both trains beside eachother. I bought the 7750 later than mine own build HP-77550. Click on pic for bigger one It's fun to build one of your own. Who has tried this too? Playability: 6/10 (Not much extra's with this set. Wagons, track and speedregulator had to be bought seperatly) Design: 10/10 (It look realistic, exspecially with a tender and big wheels under locomotive.) Price (at that time in stores): 6/10 (See playability) Price (2d hand): 2/10 (demand is higher then supply) Overall: 8/10 (Design is good, but price is very expensive. For expensive part it won't get a 10 form me.) And for the last pic, the emerald train beside the 7750: Click on pic for bigger one I hope you enjoyed this review as I, while written it.
  11. Together with my friend, we build this wagon in style 7816 Click on pic for a bigger one Click on pic for a bigger one I think the colors well done. What you people think of it?
  12. My gf made a nice one. I'm proud of her .
  13. The reviews I made sofar: 7710 Push-Along Passenger Steam Train 7720 Diesel Freight Train 7727 Freight Steam Train 7740 Electric Inter-City Train Set 7745 High-Speed City Express Passenger Train 7750 Steam Engine 7755 Diesel Heavy Shunting Locomotive 4511 High Speed Train
  14. Looks great to see the newer sets in a little town. Even with less sets, you can make a nice town with it. You have proven that. Good job .
  15. That would be this train: Which I made also a review of: Review: 7710 Push-Along Passenger Steam Train
  16. Name: Electric Inter-City Train Set Set No.: 7740 Theme: LEGO / SYSTEM / Trains / 12v / Train Set Year: 1980 Pieces: 746 Minifigs: 10 Price (when it was in stores): USD 160$ (which equals about EUR 113€) Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 290$ (which equals about EUR 200€) This is actually one of the first 12v train of the grey area. It had a little circle of track with it and also a little station, where minifigs can go and off the train. Also the front and tail lights are real working. It's a great set to start with, only you had to add a 12v speedregulator. The front view of the train: Click on pic for bigger one The right view: Click on pic for bigger one The left view of the train: Click on pic for bigger one You can also make a second model of this train: The first time I saw this train as a child, I wanted this train too. But when I started seriously with 12v trains, this train wasn't for sale anymore. I didn't knew how to get this 2d hand. Nevertheless, after my darkages I discovered internet and this train arrived as 12th in my collection. What was I proud when I had this one. I have replaced all damaged bricks with new ones, repaired the 12v motor and put some new stickers on it. Let's see the inside of the train. The locomotive: Click on pic for bigger one The first wagon: Click on pic for bigger one In dinerwagon, I added a fridge in it. So the minifigs can enjoy cold drinks or ice-creams during the journey: Click on pic for bigger one In 1983 you could buy 2 great wagons in the colors of this train: Click on pic for bigger one Click on pic for bigger one And the inside of those wagons: Click on pic for bigger one Click on pic for bigger one When you put it behind this train, you get this wonderfull picture: Click on pic for bigger one Click on pic for bigger one I had to make modifications to this train, otherwise one single 12v motor could not pull all 4 wagons. I added a second 12v motor to it, connect both with eachother with a wire. Disconnected the lights. Very handy, when track is a little dusty. It has 4 pair of sleepers, which get power from the track. It runs very smooth now. All the wheels of the 4 wagons are replaced by 9v ones, cause this one has less friction. In this way those 2 12v motors have nog problem to pull all 4 wagons. It also pulls the whole train nicely through the switches. Playability: 10/10 (With adding sets 7815 & 7819, you have a great train) Design: 10/10 (It look very realistic, colors are good chosen. Somewhere in Germany this train runs for rail.) Price: 6/10 (It's very expensive, while this train is properly the best grey 12 train sold by LEGO. I guess it's very popular.) Overall: 9/10 (It's the best 12v train you can buy, what else can I say about it?)
  17. Great idea and well done with this. You won't see much of it.
  18. An update of my controlpanel. Here it's the whole controlpanel: And a closer view of my present 9v controlpanel: In this way I can control every 9v thing seperately. What you people think of this?
  19. A few more sandred battle droids are added to my 200+ army:
  20. That green truck is good building. , that's all I can say at this moment.
  21. I think that crane is specially made to lift those rotors up to that windmill. Very interesting crane.
  22. I see nothing at legosite.......you can order it.
  23. In this topic I will try to tell the story behind this (huge) layout. I know there are bigger ones, but I haven't much seen ones like mine or bigger. Mine real name is Jacob and born in 1978. Mine drak ages started when I was 19 and ended when I live on myself in 2003. In my childhood the 12v trains 7700&7800 series (grey area) were available in stores and there I get infected with this system. You have great possibilities with remote controlled signals, switches and crossovers. The sound when a train runs over 12v track, it's like tjoesk-tjoesk-tjoesk-tjoesk. Great sound, those sleepers move over the inner 12v track . The design is also much better adapted to the minifigs, where the trains form the blue area didn't have. The 9v area is much more reliable then 12v. The 9v hang in the track and 12v lies above the inner 12v track. When both tracks are dusty, 9v will run almost always and 12v needs to be cleaned form time to time. I'm also busy to make remote controlled signals and switches for 9v with only lego parts. Here you can see the present layout: Click on pic to get more pic's of my layout. And here you can see which trains make a part of mine collection. If it isn't online, I'm updating this or brickshelf is not working properly. Or if it isn't these two reasons, then your computer is stuck . Click on pic to see which trains I have. In more posts I will make reviews of the trains and other trainsets I have. If the mod's like it to have it in their reviews, ......cool...... Besides this hobby, I have an another one. Properly you can guess already, it's mine cars. I've 2 Fiat Panda's (old type). The green one is one of the last, before the new model came. The red one is the workhorse and also a project to restore and update like the green one. Mine first Fiat Panda had an 900cc engine and the second one (green present one) have an 1100cc engine. That's explains mine nickname . Here a pic of mine second hobby. And those 2 on the doors...... It explains it's mine 2d car and not that I finish always 2d
  24. How can you make such nice avantars. This is the best I can do. Why I chosen this one? The 7710 is my first lego train and this minifig is the driver. Only I'm not happy how the driver shows himself. It should be bigger then that. My gf is very handy with pic's. maybe she can make a great one for me.
  25. Good job . This is more serious building.
