Great set. I have one too, well actually 381. But I guess the 588 was for usa and 381 for europe. I love that police bike. A bike you need to build by yourself. How cool is that .

MOCs: 4-piece (!) blender, popcorn stand, and more!
BillytheKid replied to Still Raindrop's topic in LEGO Town
That blender is very clever using of less bricks. Love it. -
Wow, this look realistic. Great job .

In this way the train has always be controlled. If you make a circle, then you don't have to look after it.

I do like the thomas train in my collection. Only duplo trains are 8 studs wide and my layout can only handle 7studs wide, otherwise many acidents will happen. Still it's something nice to have .

Some legitmate evidence for the return of HP...
BillytheKid replied to Derek's topic in LEGO Licensed
Special parts for Harry Potter are expensive to make. The license to produce Harry Potter sets ain't cheap too. If the balance is losing money, it's logic to stop with it. I don't expect that Lego will produce it again, allthough I really looking forward to it. And again, there're rumors. Starwars makes money for Lucas and Lego, so it's not logic to stop with this. -
What about this? In this way you've 2 loops and can add more switches if you like. Only one track will shortcircuit the elec. This way the train can run forever. Ohw, and if it runs a whole day.......don't put the speedregulator on max speed, otherwise the 12v motor can be overheated and the contacts in motor can melt away. A bit shame, exspecially it's a red one of value of 100 usa dollars. Good luck and don't forget the place pic's here.

I made some 'stootblokken' (don't know the english word) for my parkingplace in my layout. It's quite a huge thing, but it looks realistic and it works beautifully . Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one What you think about this design?

Great idea. Looks good. I also want to see some more pic's of this moc. I also never liked the original design of lego. That's why I build this one: It's based on this set:

Very good design. Have you building instructions? Would like to build one of myself .

My gf loves the look of the Emerald train. I do like the look of it, only I stay put it does look small when build and compared with other trains. Before I could run on 12v, I modified this train a little bit. First of all, it was too wide. Second I had to think how to build a 12v motor in it. Logic choise was in the tender, like set 7750. Only the tender of Emerald has 4 wheels and an 12v motor 3. I thought about the way of 727, but that was too long. I decided to use an 12v motor and add a few things, which can be seen at the pic below. Only the connect rods I have to change, before the complete transformation for 12v is done. Click on pic to get a bigger one On the 12v track: Click on pic to get a bigger one And here the modified tender: Click on pic to get a bigger one Let's show that 12v Emerald again : Click on pic to get a bigger one I know I complained about this train, while I build it. Afterall, I think a great add to my collection. And al those wire you see, I've put a light in the locomotive and 2 lights in the wagon. Looks fantastic. What you think of this modified Emerald for 12v? Ideas are welcome for keep it like original as possible.

Name: High-Speed City Express Passenger Train Set No.: 7745 Theme: LEGO / SYSTEM / Trains / 12v / Train Set Year: 1985 Pieces: 696 Minifigs: 10 Price (when it was in stores): USD 160,-$ (which equals about EUR 140,-€) Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 200,-$ (which equals about EUR 165,-€) This train is also called, the concorde. It's the replacement of the good selling and famous 7740. The chosen colors are a good choice. Looks good and fast. Unfornatuly, this set has no speedregulator. It had to be bought seperatly. Lucky it has a little circle of track included. It has a long station also, were the minifgs can get on or off the train. Before I show more pic's of mine 7745, I've to tell about the extra wagon I've added to this great train. I made wagon 4547 in the colors of 7745. It's a long distance train and in this way passengers can also sleep during their travel. Too bad lego never made a set for adding a wagon. Click on pic to get a bigger one Left side: Click on pic to get a bigger one Right side: Click on pic to get a bigger one Lets check the inside of the trains too. First the loc itself: Click on pic to get a bigger one The 2d wagon: Click on pic to get a bigger one The 3d wagon, the inside of 4547 in 7745 color style and with chrome watertaps: Click on pic to get a bigger one Click on pic to get a bigger one And the last wagon: Click on pic to get a bigger one And what you have to do, if you've 2 sets of this train. You can't seperate form eachother. Well I changed the shutters form the locomotive. And the one with the red shutters has a lights in the front and back. Click on pic to get a bigger one And as common with grey area 12v trains, ther're instructions included to build a second model with bricks of 7745: Playability: 7/10 (With 10 minifigs, a great playability. I miss some extra's to this set.) Design: 9/10 (It look fatastic, what do I need to say more about it?) Price: 7/10 (Nowadays second hand it's affortable, even for starters. When it was in stores, it was quite expensive.) Overall: 8/10 (An easy and not expensive set to get your hands on. Design is good and many passengers.) In my childhood I wanted this train my second train, beside mine first 7710. But it was a very expensive train at that time in stores and the 7722 had some discount. The choice was easily made by my parents and even with an 12v motor 7865 and an extra wagon 7813 cheaper then a single 7745. After mine drak ages I bought the 7745 form internet. When it arrived, I thought: 'I want them all '.

Mine had old grey bricks. Thx for the reply's sofar.

TTCE: DH-2 or better know as 'De Wadloper'
BillytheKid replied to BillytheKid's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Time to tell the story behind this little diesel train. It's a diesel train, used on low population area's. It's equipped with a 6cyl diesel with 288Horsepower. The weight of the train is 93.000kilo and has a fuel tank of 1500liter. The max speed is 100km/h. The train has a max seats of 158. The length is 43,45 meter and 3,658 meter high. It came first into service in 1981, with some problems in the beginning. The maintenance of this train is expensive and went out of service in 2008. Most trains are sold in Polen. Only 2 trains were giving to a dutch club, so hopefully it won't be forgotten in the future. I travelled a lot with this train in the past to my college. This is the reason I always wanted a model of this train. In de Fleischman/Marklin world there's only one model on N-scale (very small) available. Properly also a reason th get into the lego trains. Well here are some more pic's of the lego-model: Click on pic for a bigger one Right and left view of 'De Wadloper': Click on pic for a bigger one Click on pic for a bigger one The inner view: Click on pic for a bigger one The office of the driver: Click on pic for a bigger one Here the first design of 'De Wadloper' and here you can see that the front was difficult to give the right shape. Click on pic for a bigger one A better view of the the redesigned front: Click on pic for a bigger one I'm also busy to make a buildinginstruction, but that's a time consuming job. It isn't finished yet. I know it's not a high quality moc, the real model is easy to make a model of Lego. Nevertheless I'm very proud of this moc, because it one of the less trainmodels ever made and it's my first trainmoc. To finish this review of 'De Wadloper' a last pic in my present layout: Click on pic for a bigger one -
I'm also an administrator at a dutch legosite: Bricks4life.nl Maybe it's better known as Timmy's, called after the son of the maker of this site. I've also made a list of all legotrains that are produced by lego, which can be seen by scrolling down to De OLB® treinen/The OLB® trains. OLB stands for: Original Lego Bricks, because the maker of this site is not allowed using the word Lego. I hope you people like the reviews I write and I try to write all missing reviews of the grey area 12v trains.

Name: Diesel Freight Train Set Set No.: 7720 Theme: LEGO / SYSTEM / Trains / 4,5v / Train Set Year: 1980 Pieces: 413 Minifigs: 3 Price (when it was in stores): USD 80,-$ (which equals about EUR 70,-€) Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 180,-$ (which equals about EUR 150,-€) Before I say something about this train, first some more pictures: Click on picture to get a bigger one Click on picture to get a bigger one Click on picture to get a bigger one A funny battery train like a little diesel. The colors are well choosen. This set has everything to play along, when everything is build up. You only have to buy 3 batteries for the elec power. These batteries goes into the blue wagon directly behind the train itself. With the red pin on this wagon the direction og the train can be changed. With the signal you can stop the train or let him go. This system is directly copied form the blue area trains, before 1980. You can modify this train with the modern 12v motor or with an old 12v motor form the blue area trains. In the track itself you put the innertrack for powersupply and add a speedregulator. mine version had an old 12v motor in it. In this way it's like original as possible. Click on picture to get a bigger one Click on picture to get a bigger one The inside of the train itself: Click on picture to get a bigger one And the last wagon where a minifig can stand in: Click on picture to get a bigger one And offcourse this is the second model you can make of this train: Or you can make this one, which I do prefer: I do like this set, because it's different form all the steamengine's form lego as train. Only the stickers are always a problem when you buy this set 2d hand . For diehards 12v freaks, you have to have this set. Also for beginning trainlovers a great addition to start your collection. Playability: 8/10 (Build it up, add 3 batteries and start playing. Much cheapier then the elec trains). Design: 8/10 (Train itself, GREAT design. Only the wagons could be better.) Price: 8/10 (Affortable for collecters and beginners if you look and wait long enough.) Overall: 8/10 (It's a great set, looks good and you can play without buying a speedregulator.)

What you mean, decent size? I kept the pic's small in topic's, otherwise it can take some time when pic's are loaded when looking at this topic. You can click on pic to get a bigger pic to see the details.
-
There are the exact same size. Only wheels are different.
-
Great train, but to get it more original you can use the 12v motors form the blue area trains.
-
That's a very cool building you build. Good job .

Name: Freight Steam Train Set No.: 7727 Theme: LEGO / SYSTEM / Trains / 12v / Train Set Year: 1983 Pieces: 562 Minifigs: 2 Price (when it was in stores): USD 95,-$ (which equals about EUR 83,-€) Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 400,-$ (which equals about EUR 300,-€) Why I think it's a forgotten train? Everybody properly know the 7730, where I write a review from in near future. The 7730 is also easier to get your hands on form ebay or bricklink. And it has the famous red 12v motor and black windows. With these 3 reasons, prices of 2d hands went sky high. Even the sky is limited, but not the price of this set. That's why I bought a 7730 and rebuild this to a 7727. In this way you've a red 12v motor and can sell those 1x1x2 windows. Click on pic for bigger one Click on pic for bigger one Click on pic for bigger one It has 3 wagons, a little fork truck to load or unload the goods. Also a little circle track included. You had only to buy a speedregulator with it, to have the fun. With the connect rods, it looks very realistic. Only bad there wasn't a little tender for coal or wood. Isn't that little red car cute? Love the way how it's designed and transported. This is the second model you can make of the bricks: Hmm, need to build that little tractor . For a diehard 12v fan of grey area, you must have this train. If you only want a few sets of this train, leave this one be for what it is. Before I end this review, first some pic's of the inside of the train and wagons: Click on pic for bigger one Click on pic for bigger one The yellow truck belows to the set The red one, the design found on brickshelf . Click on pic for bigger one In my layout it has the wagon of set 7838: Click on pic for bigger one Click on pic for bigger one Playability: 8/10 (It takes time it the little fork truck has loaded all 5 crates on the train) Design: 8/10 (It look realistic, but I miss a little tender behind it.) Price (when it was in stores): 7/10 (Only missing the speedregulator.) Price nowadays (2d hand): 2/10 (300,-€ to get your hand on this one, ridiculous.) Overall: 8/10 (It looks like a real steam engine and lots of playability.)
