Below average. I've seen more pic's of this set, but actually ............ no. I do like it, cause it's small. But it's build to much difficult, if you know what I mean. And therefore useless too expensive. If it's priced around 20 euro, then ok. Not for those 50 euro's.

Yes one soldier is light flesh, little joke. I've decided to build the black hawk form the Redbeard (form the comic's). Pictures of progress will be posted here form time to time. My goal is to build 30 canons in this ship with some extra defence. I know it's all fiction, but I always wanted to build a great ship. I've ordered the boat pieces form set 6285/6274 to start. My fiction is that captain Redbeard may sail under the english flag, because pirate live was hard and hunted down and he is now under protection of the english law. In this way the black hawk can be repaired in english harbors and get supplies, for defending from the spanish and french. Only he will not attack the french ship of his 'son' Eric.

Sails with a lot of colors are not realistic. Form the new ship, this looks most realistic and that's why I've chosen this one.

It's a small windmill and dificult to hide the wires. Maybe using the red micromotor and enlarge the windmill a little will do the trick.

This size is what I had in mind. I too want to build bigger fregate, to hunt down the Black Seas Barracuda. When the time is right, I will start with building the fregate. I will use an excisting set and enlarge it. I want to use the weapons used in the comic's of the real redbeard. I'm not sure if I buy this one. If do, I keep it MISB.

I voted Train Station: Kris Kelvin. This moc is really good. Looks good, much details and no studs te see. The last one is nice, not outstanding.

The (size) ship doesn't matter, the sail-know-how of the captain is far more important. The real redbeard (form comic's) is a very good sailer. And you have to be really very good to beat this famous pirate. I have all first comic of this series and this is the reason why I like pirate lego. The blue coats are the french, which play also an important role in these comic's. It's all fiction, but story is good. And that is what counts for me .

Mine set 6274 has dirty sails. The dirty ones are in a bucket with soap and water, trying to get it clean. I've ordered clean ones, so a good time to clean this whole set. But on other hand, I also want to keep it orginal as it is. Maybe in future I will make a warship in the style of the first pirate sets.

A quick update of my layout. I placed police station 381/588 in my layout. Selling this set is a horrible mistake, it's worth nothing. When it's sold, it will be taken out then. I guess that train will have also problems to run over a 12v switch, because the front and back hang indeed a way over the track when it takes a curve. Never thought of that, because I don't like battery trains and besides I never liked that train. Maybe you can get a 4511 second hand. They can be found easily at ebay. The magnets will not be a problem. Only the emerald has the new 12v problem magnets .

I've set 6274, but the seals have light brown spots on it. And I've also set 6285, but those seals stays good (bought new, when I was a child). I like to keep sets mint. How can I clean them? It's about these kind of seals:
