Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

He's got some big hair there. A little modding needed from you, Ed. That DLP Hydra Cap looks very much like your custom. Where did the design originate? -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

To be honest I hadn't noticed that the right arm had a regular shoulder but the left arm had a fat one. The NACM custom arm only has printing on a right arm so I'll just swap out the left arms for a regular Lego one and have a single arm patch. -

I'm thinking whatever is in the picture is what we'll get. It's a shame if they are fat but have nice Hydra arm print. NACM have printed on genuine Lego arms with that logo so there's always an option to replace them. The Christo First Avenger looks very well done there with the only thing not being accurate is the wings on the headpiece having a black outline... maybe the lack of the side leg printed holster too. They also look to have done an excellent job with the Stealth Suit Cap by Phoenix customs which is one of my favourite custom figures. The variation of Bucky's Cap looks nice and the Hydra cap looks well done too. Shame they just remade the other official Caps as they could have done another couple of customs such as the older MRM blue Cap without the belt and the solver side pieces. They'd already done the Sam Wilson variant so maybe if they'd waited they could have done the 2016 SDCC version. I don't think that'll be long in coming though. -
I know these designs were met with quite a bit of derision over on the Licensed Forum but for people interested in declaring their own up here's the artwork to help you along. You can click on each one to go to the Flickr page and download the larger file sizes if needed.

Every time I see that image I can't think they'll be anything other than Minidolls. It's definitely something my 7yr old daughter would want.

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

I definitely prefer the plainer face on that Joker fig. I had a feeling the other one said Lamaged. I'll be picking a couple of those up in the hope for a good one. Using the Pogo hairpiece, generic Purple Lego legs and seeing which has the better torso and arms. That should give us a good figure. -

The printing looks quite sharp on that. It's basically the moulding lines of the New 52 version but with an older Bat symbol. I'm interested how the whole figure looks. -

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

I must admit I've not seen that iteration of the image. Has anyone else seen it? I'm not asking fora link... but just wondering if it's something that has been spotted in the wild at all by anyone else. -

So that's Blob, Kingpin and Swamp Thing? It's such a shame. Hopefully Swamp Thing will make an appearance somewhere else or I can find that set very cheaply for him. -
True. It's such a shame that something with the cultural importance of the OT could be in such a position. I'd think that from a business standpoint Disney would obviously try to maximise their investment in the SW franchise in every way possible (and from my hope that would include the theatrical release of the original OT). Maybe, in the same way as AFOL's are within Lego's own demographic, those that want a Blu-ray release of the theatrical releases are in such a minority whereas the special edition Blu-ray will be fine for 99% of the general disc buying public.

Thanks for the info on the different versions. I grabbed Harmy's versions a couple of years ago but wasn't keeping up to date with the Team Negative One version... I'm just grabbing that now. I grabbed the 2006 DVDs on release just for the OT versions but obviously they're never used anymore thanks to these releases. Hopefully Disney will fulfil the rumours of a BluRay release of them.

Is it just me or does that new one say 'Lamaged'? At least the hair on the Pogo is accurate but the face is crap. Mixing it with the Xinh might give us a decent figure. I'm tempted to pick up a Jestro head to use instead though and just ignore the tattoo. -

Ah well... Let's see if we get a bigfig Bane for real when any info of future sets gets released. Not sure why someone would bother but trolls exist unfortunately. -

The thing is that's silly enough for it to work as others have said. It would be hilarious if this master criminal who masterminded the Arkham Breakout to stretch Batman to the extreme before defeating him in such a brutal manner was then let down because the company who made his drill read the plans in inches instead of feet (See Spinal Tap's Stonehenge). -

I got back from a week away to find two packages of figures from AE. Some decent print and figures in some of them including Spiderman UK and the new Spiderman figure which have superbly sharp printing. Dr Strange is pretty good and his head print is very sharp on my one. Spawn was pretty good although the white could have been sharper. Hydra Cap was excellent as was the Crossbones. Pogo's Atom is also very good and there's no real print issues with this one although I've got another on the way too. I'm not overly keen on Kraven and there's some misalignment and heavy print, Movie Deadpool isn't great and neither is Zemo. All in all not a bad group. I'm hoping I get another good Pogo Atom and the two Xinh ones I order are good around the head and helmet to I can make one excellent figure. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

Well... back off a week's holiday and a lot has happened / images released / leaked. I'm just going to ad to the general sense of glee with those two official sets. I had a feeling that there'd be some level of change to the look of the characters. The Batman we got in the Lego Movie line had the nice expression print running under the cowl which made it stand out anyway so that's a nice base for these. I actually love the Joker looking like this. It's not a comic adaptation and we've got plenty of those versions anyway so having this deranged freak works so well for me in this environment. I think the Batmobile is such a fun build and completely over the top which again fits in with the Lego Movie Universe Batman. How can you take him seriously when he makes 30 batarang attempts to hit the lever in the Lego Movie to then proclaim, 'First try!'. He's such a caricature of the Dark Knight it's perfect. That Harley is spectacular... the amount of print and detail on that thing is bordering on ridiculous and the new hairpiece seems like a precursor to some of the really nice and diverse pieces we may be getting thanks to the other images we've seen. Having the Joker feature elements from various versions is also a nice touch. He's a psychopathic killer so he needs to be cartoony, and even silly, for it to work in an animated movie for Kids. Robin is fantastic though. I can see him being childlike all the way through and then maybe becoming the boy wonder at the end as a transformation from geeky, heavy rimmed glasses to supercool side kick (as cool as things get in the Lego movies anyway)... and despite the earlier comments regarding on which Robin it is or isn't it doesn't matter to me. It's a great costume which works well for a very young Grayson as well as being a great base for a purist Kelly. I hope to get more than one to do just that. With the other characters being so good it feels almost a little lame to get ManBat again in his same form. I just hope we get to seem some more of those nice designs from the teaser and the image of the Bane bigfig would lean towards that. My wife has been told in no uncertain terms that I may be off the radar for a day or two when these sets get released. -

Same here... images definitely not working. Also... I know this thread sometimes runs under the radar here but I think the image of the leaked Bane set should be removed. Let's stick to the rules and not piss Lego off with leaked images... not good for EB in general. -

So basically if I manage to get a good print Xinh Atom head and helmet to go with a good print Pogo Atom it'll beat the official one hands down. Worth buying 2 or 3 of each one... £5 well spent. -
I'd say that's just bad luck. I've had a couple of stores that have had an average price per piece rule and I just don't order from them. I've recently made several small orders from around Europe, the US and here in the UK and as long as I met any minimum order I was fine. I've had a couple of small charges for picking etc in the past but maybe £1 per order and never much more. I also like to use the 'get a quote' option which more stores are offering now to make sure I know the shipping cost before committing.

Of course they can. It's the retailer that's taking the hit to help keep sales moving throughout the year and even with a 3for2 they'll be making a profit. Amazon will still be making profits on sets they have marked down and all bricks and mortar retailers that match Amazon's price will also still be making a profit. -

Ok... I'm away from my collection and I can't recall having seen this protocol droid before... I'm also on my phone so apologies for not being able to embed it. I'm prepared to be embarrassed by me already owning this but not remembering: Just had an answer over on Flickr... I think it's from the advent calendar -
I like that this comparison was done in a genuinely fair and neutral standpoint. Faces always seem to be an issue for the bootleg designers even if it's a straight copy. Let's not go down the 'bootlegging is ruining Lego's business' route again... It clearly isn't. Asia is Lego's fastest growing market and just happens to be where these are at their most readily available. People who can't afford larger Lego sets may pick these up but Lego is a premium product with a huge and loyal fanbase. Interesting that the print on the bootleg thug appears to be superior to the op over the Lego version. There are some terrible quality bootlegs out there but there are those capable of something excellent... It's a shame these efforts are concentrated on copying existing product but I suppose that's the whole point of them. No licences, no r&d, no design or marketing... Hence very low price product. Lego and the ip owners need to decide whether they're going to try and close them down but with China's history of ignoring international copyright it could be a futile venture.

No problem. I've not seen it posted previously but with the kerfuffle regarding apparent secrecy I wasn't sure.

I must admit if DLP get those Cap A figures right then there's some potentially very good versions of excellent customs there. Christo's First Avenger along with Phoenix's Stealth Suit and I'm interested to see how they've handled the Bucky Cap figure as well as the Militant figure.
