The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Robianco replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Exactly. It is its own version of Batman. As arrogant, brash, macho and as silly as it needs to be. It's not the Batman from Killing Joke or Dark Knight Returns. I love it as it is. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Robianco replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Seriously though. The Batman in the Lego movie is a cartoon character of a comic book character. Throwing several Batarangs at a lever before finally hitting it and then proclaiming 'First time!' like nobody noticed how crap his aim was? Dumping his girlfriend to jump on a spaceship and try and chat up a gold girl only to find out it was male droid? At which point is the Batman in the Lego movie or this one ever close to another Batman? This is, after all, toy for children based on a film... for children. -
I ordered a few figures that had been in my basket for a while. I added a couple more of the Captain Bat figure just to get the vambraces. At least that way out of the four of them that arrive I should get at least one good figure. The price of the chrome protocol droids has dropped a little also. I don't normally look at sets to see if there was anything reduced in those.

It's Bricks & Pieces. Lego's inventory site where you can buy parts from sets: https://www.lego.com/en-gb/service/replacementparts?chosenflow=1 It's different to Pick-a-Brick on the Lego site and you can find licensed parts for a lot of sets. Just make sure you click on the 'Buy Bricks' button rather than the 'Missing Bricks' button.

Beastboy legs and Starfire hair are still both available.

If SY have printed that Atom it'll probably be the best version yet. I've got that Superman costume and it's a really nice alternative to the version released by Lego. The print is excellent. Flash looks like a half decent CW version. That Nightcrawler actually looks really good and is far better than the rest of the figures in that Marvel line.

I think so... I've got a few figures in my basket and there's an icon on those that are going to be reduced on 11/11. Fingers crossed that it's automatic.

I know what you mean. I'm glad I don't buy Marvel anymore as I'd be tempted but I know there's something I don't like.

Obviously the only thing in those figures that's relevant to this thread is the Colossus figure as it's new.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Robianco replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah... I think the UK stores will carry everything whereas the US exclusives seem to be exactly that... even from Lego's own bricks and mortar stores. If it's Jan 1st that's fine. It's a shame I won't be able to pick any up over Christmas but it's not that much longer to wait. Unfortunately if Pop Star has to wait I think he/she is going to have some kind of breakdown. -
What sets do you think are a good investment right now?
Robianco replied to Lasivian's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There have been cases in places such as Australia where an entire trolley of Lego has been bought before it hit the shelf and nobody got to buy it. It just went into scalpers hands. Scalpers because they buy up the stock of items and create that vacuum. If someone makes money off a 10188 Death Star then fair play to them. It was on the shelves for eight years and there was plenty of time to buy it. Some other sets aren't that well circulated. -
I think the issue with the new Joker is slightly unfair. It's a stylised design relating entirely to a version of him that fits with the nature of the Lego Batman Movie. It's a little zanier, a little crazier and a lot more child friendly. We've had several Joker designs and I think they all fit with what they were supposed to be. Same with Hulk. Original release is more classic green while the newer one was specific to the Avenger movies. I can't comment on Spiderman as I'm not sure which movie / comic era either of them was aiming for. You have the newer version of Spiderman now from the Civil War film so that minifig follows that design. It's not that its the same figure updated randomly but a new iteration of that character which has a new figure design to represent that. The ghosts aren't a million miles away from each other and the new CMF version was more of a ghoul with the grey cape so not entirely a next iteration of that design. There have been moments where something has been off with an updated figure with as Luke's overly detailed and aged face in the Star Wars Cantina set but that was dropped for his next appearance but I can't think of a figure that's got necessarily worse with a new release. Lego's design ethic changes subtly so a new version will reflect that... normally with more detail currently. Nostalgia plays a part in things too... there are people who prefer the original Boba Fett figure as it's more 'Lego' to them but I don't think the version in the UCS Slave 1 can be topped (unless they make a more detailed backpack).

Robianco replied to Lasivian's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There is. For every £1 over the original price you charged someone for an item you have to spend one year walking over the corners of upturned Lego bricks in bare feet. After that it's just an eternity of flames and pointy sticks wielded by goblins. -
Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Robianco replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The simple answer to that would probably just be 'no'. Space Wars, I think, is the name used by a company called Sheng Yuan to clone existing Star Wars sets. The licensed forum has had all mention of the cloned sets banned and any discussion about such things should probably be in the Community Forum as it's not genuine Lego. The question of whether it would be 'worth it' is down to you. It'll be cheaper but the quality won't be the same and the product is essentially stolen from Lego. -
I noticed in Digger's recent unboxing video from Taobao that he has the Watchmen figures so hopefully a review of those with some clearer shots will be arriving soon.

That's the thing. For someone BLing 10179 the £150 to buy the bootleg even just for those 62 parts might makes sense. No markings to differentiate those parts and instead of $800 you get something pretty much exactly the same for a fraction of that cost. Is there any way of finding out if there's been a sudden increase in stock of those parts? 1559 of those levers in the last 6 months seems like a lot for something so rare. I can see the 7 mast rigging pieces being a more realistic amount. If a store didn't have any of those levers then suddenly popped up with 120 of them along with 4 of those rigging pieces it would seem pretty suspect.

Then people can buy Oxford and Star Diamond. But they can't own Star Wars, DC, Marvel, Ghostbusters etc based construction toys. Lego isn't an elitist toy... but it's a premium brand toy. Just because someone makes something cheaper with a similar function doesn't mean Lego has to. Lego is a victim of it's success because people want to emulate their product. It's great that there are cheaper brands if people want to buy them... It still doesn't mean Lego have to lower their prices to come in line with them.... and their success is a clear indicator of that. Why aren't Oxford the largest toy company in the world if they're as good but 7x cheaper?

True... I think DLP can print some really nice figures but they sometimes choose the wrong things to clone. They need to stop looking at figures from SGP and Penzore and more at Christo if they want to see how things should look. I've said it before but I do think SY's clone of Phoenix's Arachnid Hero is one of the best Spider-Man figures made by anyone... it just goes to show you can have excellent quality figures for very little. I know a Flickr group was set up to 'give' artwork to these companies and it'd be nice if they did focus on non-releases figures.

I know it has nothing to do with Compatible Minifigures and the discussion thereof but my Christo order just arrived and I just wanted to share it. Carry on... Ha... Thanks for that. I could have photographed it for you but I sold my one when I got out of Marvel stuff. I will endeavour to keep up to date with custom figs... and continue to hide them from my wife at the same time...

TRU in the UK currently has the FO General polybag with purchases over £15 as well as for sale at £4.99 each. I think the A-Wing Pilot will be available from Lego Stores and maybe S@H in the UK later this year.

Did Dargo copy, or try to copy, Phoenix Customs version?

DLP. Bringing obscure Spider variants to the masses since 2016.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

No problem. It did seem like a pretty big leak of parts at the time.. I remember Harley's legs as well as Nick Fury's torso and several other parts...
