That's big HECK YEAH! CC is a fantastic parts pack with an awesome array of 1x bricks and small tiles.

Can you comment more on the hole-punch? Some have been wondering if it would be useful for cutting cloth for minifig accessories like capes.

Loving the roof techniques. I don't think I have ever seen technic rods used that way before. Nice.

No, what you would have seen is the 48x48 stud baseplate which, as you might guess by looking at the numbers, is only two studs smaller in both directions than the 50x50 stud plates. They look very similar. I got one in a used set a while ago and it kinda threw me off that it was just a little bigger when I tried to fit it with other plates and it didn't work properly. BTW you probably don't want to have bigger plates. Really huge creations are a pain to move unless they are modular. Being able to break them down to 48x48 stud sections makes it a lot easier.

This really good news! I just got a hold of four new ones and am feeling rather pleased. I think I have eight altogether now which feels like a huge amount. Good to know we will be able to get more.

You could also build up the sidewalks two plates high which would allow the crews to "dig" into the sidewalks.

Well at this point if they have not got the iPhone version well into development they will have totally missed the boat when this thing launches.

This time of year, I would think building nativity scenes would be a natural.

Returning to lego after a massive deal
tedbeard replied to diggitydug's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Great story, good deal. My oldest son already needs to use the whole of this piece of IKEA furniture plus a couple of Rubbermaid bins. :) Don't bother. Explain that the money and time spent on LEGO is better than some of the alternatives like alcohol, gambling, strippers, etc. My wife just shrugs now and says this as a mantra. Oh, and never underestimate the romantic/cute factor. Make her something like a flower or a vignette of her or the kids. I made this and my wife loves it: Actually I updated it when our third child was born but for some reason don't have a picture. Hmmm, better take one so I can update it again. -
Well, things have come a long way since then. The iPod Touch is an iPhone without the phone or camera. It does so much more than an mp3 player. I would recommend buying the best iPod possible and buying a cheap disposable cell phone as it will be a much cheaper monthly rate than the outrageous iPhone contracts. As for other brands doing what an iPod does: no way, not even close. Movies, TV and all kinds for great apps. Sorry, no phone does what the iPod/iPhone can do. But that is just my opinion. YMMV

I guess you never came through Victoria, BC. Sounds like your winter is what we get here: grey and wet. We have to drive four hours to find enough snow to ski.

Spanish Imperial Galleon - Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion

This may be one of the best LEGO ships I have ever seen. I have always held a hope in the back of my mind that I might someday tackle a ship from this era and you have set the standard wonderfully. I look forward to WIP pics. -
Love it! One of my favorite shows.

New element: Brick 1 x 1 with stud on 1 side
tedbeard replied to Rick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Stacking the two types alternately on top of one another with tiles attached to the fronts would make a very interesting texture. A very good addition to the parts palette for sure. -
LOL I wasn't paying attention and thought I was clicking on a thread about Dan Siskind's Brickmania. Have a great event.

You might also be interested in Brickwiki an editable encyclopedia for the LEGO hobby. It includes articles on themes and a special acronyms section where you can read all about STAMPs, BURPs and even a FOITSOP.

This is so beautifully done. All the more so since it is done using road plates! I have not often seen such detailed "underground" without resorting to brick-built roads.

Grew up watching both. Loved the Clone Wars cartoons and the new Star Trek movie. BTW I was very sad when I first saw the MB Enterprise with Jean-Luc Picard figure. It was soo tempting to get it just for the fig but I resisted.

What a great collection of 30's era vehicles and accessories. I have to say what stood out for me though was the side panels on the cab of the black sedan at the top. Using seats on their side to make the car panels that meet up with those doors. Brilliant!

^ A beautiful train station but I could never afford a set with THAT many pieces. It must be a huge part count.

I'm actually really digging the colour scheme - well, maybe not the white decking. I particularly enjoy your stern. Some interesting angles and a fancy style that really works for me.

Excellent point! There have been some amazing creations using 16x32 baseplates. I would love to see a fish and chips shop or a bookstore in that size creation. They could do lots of great details and reduce the number of bricks(cost) ading variety both to the "street" and to the price points. And again, I am with you on that one. If it was left mostly empty on the interior it could be tricked out as a library or a bank or even a pub - all of which uses have been shared by real-life buildings in my home town.

Then perhaps the thread should have been titled appropriately. Maybe something like "Berard's Buildings Bonanza" or something similar as a title would have avoided the whole issue. What "sucks the fun right out" for me is having someone repeat a recent poll/thread and try to pass it off as new and then try to justify it by retroactively adding new information. The original poll and post said nothing about this being limited to one designer's work. Anyway, it's not really that big a deal so please just move on already. Its not like we are discussing the heretical and offensive practice of "smooth" sidewalks propagated in these Modular Houses series sets which goes against all LEGO tradition.
-
FYI, Market Street was not a "tribute fan set" - whatever that is supposed to mean. It is in fact the set that defined the Modular Houses Standard. Are you saying any set designed by an AFOL working for LEGO is not a legitimate set?!!?! That said, I voted for the Green Grocer same as in the previous version of this very same thread. Town Plan was included in error but c'mon... it was the same discussion.

Yeah, but I'm also not gonna pay $$$ for a copy of Windows. :)
