Totally love the idea of college dorm rooms. Cheaper and better mingling in the common rooms. Wish I could be there.

Yeah, the fur looks a bit too bushy. I have seen a lot of people use two tires, have you seen that?

Thanks for fixing the pics. The kilt (it is not a "skirt' Cpt B.) is really well constructed. Did you use the pattern from the CM3-Hula Girl? The use of the hat is interesting and overall you have taken great pains with your painting. I wonder why you painted the muzzle of the musket white? Wouldn't black make it look more like it was actually a gun barrel? Oh, and the shoulders look really bare. Perhaps epaulettes in white or gold?

I'd like to comment but I cannot see it. Use Flickr or deeplink to the pics directly if you must use BS.

Way too overcomplicated. Correct answer: Because they can. Seriously, it's all PR and smoke blown up you-know-where. Canadians are too polite to make a fuss so they do whatever they can get away with. That is Capitalism after all.

Great New Piece for Castle: Baldrics!

Great detail pic. The chunk of blu-tak under his foot is kinda funny but explains how they get they to stand up so well in these displays. -
So, available sometime around Easter but online where exactly? Or is some enterprising Brit willing to ship to us Dr Who fans here in Canada for a nominal fee?

How's it going, eh?

Getting girls to play with/buy LEGO
tedbeard replied to FiletOFish's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think we may have really hit on something here with the discussion of animal-themed sets. My little girl (8 years old) loves nothing more than to play with my "animal" drawer. She spends hours lining them up and trying to build things for them. This and building the Modular Houses Standard buildings with me seem to be her favorites. I think the Fire Brigade was particularly good because it had a female firefighter which was something mentioned in the older posts as a specific failing. And for the record: I think she likes pink just fine but only for things like the minifigs "clothes" or accessories. The reason pink doesn't work for bricks is because very few houses or cars or even pieces of furniture in the real world are pink. I think my little girl wants to build more realistically. -
How to crop, sharpen and resize images online

On a MAC I believe you can also do these things right in iPhoto which comes on all new machines. -
Hi! My sister is a Bluenoser (born in Halifax) while I was born here on the opposite coast (can you tell my father was Navy?) Are you hooked into CanLUG on Flickr? VicLUG is a couple of weeks away from participating in GottaCon and hopefully we will get some shots up there shortly thereafter. What's NovaLUG up to?

Actually Market Street defined the Modular Houses Standard. The micro-site that was part of the LEGO Factory section of LEGO.com (see archive here) used Market Street as the example of how to build to the standard. There has certainly been a lot of confusion on this point (see this discussion from 2009).

Only in the United States and to a lessor extent in Canada. The LEGO company has asked that people use the correct form so the issue should be closed.

Finally Series 3 hits Canada!

Sweet! Are you able to confirm the rumours that the "bumps" are changing or are difficult to read? -
It is a bit of a game. I use it mostly to get "this-and-that" and you have to balance out the different prices, minimum amounts and availability. When I was looking for several different parts for a MOC I found the best I could do was two or three stores and having to pay a little more for some parts rather than adding a fourth or fifth shop and the resulting shipping charges. I also discovered that I would often pay a slightly higher price from US suppliers because their shipping and exchange rate was better. Sorry EB folks who actually live in Europe but getting parts shipped to Canada is usually enough to prevent the purchase for me. But, that is the down side. The up side is being able to get anything you need for usually a reasonable price. I have had lots of great transactions and cannot recommend BL enough - Just the other day I overheard a family in TRU discussing P@B and had to jump in and tell them about BL. The mother was very grateful.

Oh, I didn't ask anyone. I was bad and opened them since they were just sitting on the shelf. I opened one and got all three and then couldn't believe when no one stopped me. I grabbed all three from the next one and again felt like I was going to nabbed at any time by a staff member but I got through the third with only one mother with kids looking at me funny; and then thanking me when I used my barcode sheet to find her kid one he wanted. I walked out with 9 (3 in each of 3 boxes). My oldest son now has a BrickWars squad and a couple appeared in stockings Xmas Morning. I also finished (mostly) my Mariachi band:

Uhm, not to be pedantic, OK, a little bit, but saying that the raising of the flag on Mount Suribachi "brought about the end of WWII" is inaccurate. A bit like saying Operation Varsity or the Battle of the Bulge brought about the end of the war in Europe. All important components of victory but none decided the war.
-
Actually I opened three boxes and cleared out the Spartans but there were a couple of boxes I didn't touch. I was trying not to be too greedy. Glad to know the ones I left were appreciated.
-
Sweet! The Yates St store had the best selection earlier - they even put out four unopened boxes one day which somehow got opened all at once. :)

I'm Canadian and the ONLY thing my 4.5 year-old son is asking Santa for is a "green screwdriver" as in the Sonic Screwdriver as used by Matt Smith as the Doctor. So yes, I have a whole family that is waiting for the Christmas Special to air and I know a lot of Discerning fans in the United States so there is something of a market over here.

Local: Victoria Highlanders FC - I am President of the Lake Side Buoys supporters group National Team: Canada (obviously) then England EPL: Arsenal (no ManUre bandwagon for me) LEGO: Stackton Town FC - I've been trying to collect bits and pieces to build a stadium and team(s) On a more current topic: some of the Americans have been getting all excited by the the Collectible Minfig sports figs, especially the baseball player, but the Series 4 footballer looks great. Does anyone have detail pics? Does he have a number or can we use our old stickers from former football sets to make a team?

Very nice design. Now if we can just get Tommy to commit to stocking the engraved TARDIS plates(scroll down) on a regular basis...

Should Lego change the way they sell Track ?
tedbeard replied to The Yellow Brick's topic in LEGO Train Tech
The products you use as examples were all created to fill a gap that TLC was not filling. When Ben made his train wheels there were no comparable wheels being produced by TLC. When Little Armoury et al started producing weapons there were no comparable weapons. What you are suggesting goes a step beyond and sounds mighty Mega-Bloks to me. -
Great part use. Now I want more of those weightlifters.
