  1. Hey, nobody needs to know about your alternative lifestyle. ;)
  2. Hey, me too! Edward, nickname "Ted", username "Tedward" except on "pirate"-theme sites so "Tedbeard". How's that for convoluted. Welcome aboard!
  3. Reminds me of the houses they are building out of re-purposed shipping containers. Nice.
  4. Those stickers look fantastic. Heck, I'd buy a sheet or two if you sold them.
  5. Great idea! Thanks for the templates and the suggestion for a stylus. I find sketching with Adobe Ideas using my finger is useless.
  6. Will be looking forward to some shots sans plexi. And yes the roof technique is amazing. Using the two(?) different shapes of flag in different colours AND being able to change the angle of each one makes a wonderfully random effect. I think I will certainly be using that on some pirate buildings (sheds, huts, etc) for Port Brick @ BrickCon in October.
  7. Very nice little ship. The captain's quarters seem quite luxurious. As for names I like Frobisher, a good privateering name if ever I heard one.
  8. Oooh, Are you going to BrickFete next week? Looks like fun.
  9. Hi! Welcome to EB. There are a lot of us Canucks here and sooner or later you will probably end up on the Canadian, Eh? thread. Its ridiculously long but if you skip to the end you can often find out about Canada specific sales and release dates and AFOL events. What part of Canuckistan are you in? I'm on the Left Coast and our LUG usually sends several people to BrickCon in Seattle as it is close to us.
  10. Wow, that roof technique is amazing. Hopefully the Flickr wil have some details of construction. But what is really impressive is the round tower. There have been many round towers posted but this one is fantastic.
  11. I have to say that the tower is the highlight for me. The yellow roof is kinda nice as well but the shape and height of the tower is just lovely.
  12. ^ This. By a country mile the best ever gas station by TLC.
  13. For those of a pirate-ish bent who may be coming to BrickCon in Seattle this fall there will be an expanded Pirate section this year. As part of that display I am leading an effort to build a pirate town. To facilitate this I have authored something I am calling the Port Brick Standard which allows for different builders to come together and make a pirate-themed town. Besides the Port Brick website (which is still very much a WIP) I have just created both a Flickr group and a Facebook Event page to try and coordinate and communicate. Land ho! Port Brick off the starboard bow!
  14. Really lovely truck. I wonder if anyone has modified the Hagrid hair to remove the beard? Dreads without the beard would be cool.
  15. Sorry all I can say is...WOW! As a big fan of the movie and having seen the gear in person @ the Seattle Sci-Fi Museum you have done an amazing job of rendering these in minifig scale. You have also done really well to make it just detailed enough to look good on a minifig without getting too crazy detailed. Hicks, Apone and the rest will be ready to go thanks to you.
  16. I am totally in agreement with this sentiment. LUGbulk was created to aid LUGs in doing public displays by providing elements to create large landscapes or other "big" MOCs. It certainly should not be something that gets in the way of new members or having fun.
  17. Do the numbers add up to the totals posted above? These sets have a lot of room in the box to the point where you can actually stuff twice the amount of LEGO that they include in many boxes. Just because it does not fill the box does not make it wrong. As posted above however the best way to check is to build it.
  18. Ouch, that's not good. Perhaps it was just bad timing? Our LUG had about one and a half weeks to get our order squared away this time and it was a bit of a hassle for us trying to get everyone coordinated. Not an excuse for being rude but maybe they were a little preoccupied. I'd hate to think a LUG was trying to be unwelcoming.
  19. The car is really well done and the Brickfilm is a lot of fun. Looking forward to seeing more.
  20. Sorry but the selection is horrible. Why not faction-based packs like was done in the castle line. One pirate pack, one redcoats pack and one "cannibal" pack? And including Sparrow? How many of him do we bloody need? This is a fail.
  21. It's called a Jambalaya. You certainly want to get the rules established clearly ASAP. Classic-Castle and Forbidden Cove have run these and it can be fun.
  22. Put it in the bin with other plastics for recycling.
  23. Within my heart, above my home, The Maple Leaf forever Buble does it best
  24. Really nice. The bastions are well done and the mix of white with grey in the walls gives a nice weathered effect.
  25. I used it to build a bridge in 2009:
