  1. I think I was using this as an example. Are there any techniques you can think of that could fill or minimize that gap?
  2. I love it except for the actual piping/spout. It looks too wide; perhaps it should be one stud wide or made from Technic bits.
  3. In regards to the center gap on top...how easily do you think that could be fixed using techniques from the MOCs that have been made? I'm specifically thinking about the alternating 2x4 wings that create a zigzag seal.
  4. I do understand budget constraints, and this is not a "be a man so do what you want" stance, but here's the thing... Assuming $250, for example, is an acceptable amount for a birthday present; if you want a big Lego set your partner should buy you what you want. The present is for you, not anyone else. So their opinion on spending that much for Lego should have no bearing on the fact that its your present.
  5. The smurfs have some tiny chickens.
  6. Guys don't worry about that kind of thing.
  7. This section has the more adult-oriented sets. They have more pieces and usually look more realistic. Do your research before buying sets from Amazon, they are usually way overpriced. You can check prices against Brickset.com.
  8. I remember when gas was under $1 per gallon...both gas and Lego are made with oil.
  9. Problem is that also means forum moderator, and someone is just as likely to use the other context. Both need to be added. Since Mini is in there, how about Midi: Smaller than System-Scale, Larger than Mini-Scale. On an aside, I thought SHEFOL was Shemale Fan Of Lego
  10. Short version: IMO continuing riding on a plugged rear tire is fine, continuing riding on a plugged front tire is not. Long version: Agreed that plugging is fine in an emergency and will easily hold up until you can get it replaced. I have ridden thousands of miles on a plugged rear tire, there was no way I was tossing an 800 mile Pilot Power Sport. I have no problem continuing riding on a plugged rear, but I would never do that on a front; plugged fronts are strictly there to get you by. A tire pressure gauge will tell you if your plug has a slow leak or not. I don't recommend spirited twisty riding on a plugged rear tire, which has accounted for almost all my nails, but around town and small trips its fine. Also bear in mind that picking up a nail on a tubeless wheel is relatively drama-free, steering gets heavy and rear moves around like its on rain grooves; however, picking up a nail on regular inner-tube spoked wheels, even ones with tubeless tires, can be a violent and scary affair. Also bear in mind that plug kits do not work on inner-tubes, which was the reason I changed my wheels to mags. You can find tire plug kits like this at most auto part stores. My air compressotr is a Cycle Pump, and the best part is that it plugs into the Battery Tender lead I already have on my bike. I keep a small LED flashlight and tire pressure gauge with my pump. My suggestion is to buy these things, and practice on your currently compromised tire. Perfect example of why its a good thing to do is that a month or two ago I spent the weekend at my fiancee's mother's house. I got up at 5am to make the three hour ride back to work and sure enough I picked up a nail in the middle of nowhere, at a very inconvenient time. Because I knew how to do these things I was back on the road in less than ten minutes, not having these things would have seriously complicated my day.
  11. Plug it and keep riding. Everyone should keep a plug kit and a small compressor on their bikes...and know how to use them.
  12. Does your imagination not allow Yoda to use the frigate except for when Lucas specifically says he does? Good review otherwise.
  13. Damaged box Death Star playset for 360 and damaged box Pet Shop for 120.
  14. Nah, its a customized 2000 Triumph Thunderbird Sport.
  15. Man, it really does look cool in person, well video at least. Those huge sets really are a joy to behold. I'm normally not a fan of numbered bags on adult sets, but after wading through all the piles for Imperial Shuttle maybe its not such a bad thing; can you imagine hunting for a grey piece amongst all the grey. I hadn't planned on getting it right away, but I can feel myself waffling.
  16. I can't speak for everyone else, but after the QAR, which I really like, I expected the Pearl to have more style than the photo showed. I just feels like a too-simple build. I still look at the my QAR and notice cool details and interesting things about it, but I really doubt I would do that with the BP. I know its a smaller set, but there's still no there there.
  17. Imagine what you would like it to look like; now remove almost all of the neat details, drop the piece count and make it black.
  18. At least they didn't use that awful Space-Vespa of his.
  19. I wish they had used something to fill that gap a little, because I kind of expect clever parts usage on UCS models. Regardless of what you thought about its price, 10215 used some excellent techniques and I wish that kind of creativity was applied to fix this glaring visual issue. Those are the details that take a set from good to great. I actually like the little bounty hunter easter egg. They already included that scene in scale to the ship and its nice that they zoomed in so we can see the scene as well.
  20. I bought this a while back and just built it. I had a lot of fun building it, and am considering how to reinforce the front curved bit of the hull a bit. Maybe out a half pin in between the grey technic pieces and run a harry potter wand, or whatever that part is called, down into the bottom part. I will say that once built that section isn't too fragile; that's not to say that I'll pick it up by that area.
  21. The new Imperial Flagship and QAR, so... two.
  22. I would have said PoTC because I prefer the QAR to any of the regular pirate ships**, but with the prelim BP photo that may be the only PoTC ship I can say that about. **Except for the new Imperial Flagship I would have said PoTC because I prefer the QAR to any of the regular pirate ships**, but with the prelim BP photo that may be the only PoTC ship I can say that about. However, CP has had a lot of years to round out that world, its just a more robust feeling; PoTC only has sets relating to the movie while CP has a wider range of sets that make up a pirate world. **Except for the new Imperial Flagship
  23. I actually think they should do it to the same price/piece count as the QAR. For $20 you could have epic battles that don't start out feeling slanted due to one ship being cheaper and smaller.
  24. Made some modifications and installed a dog mount.
  25. I wonder why they didn't close up the gap the same way they did on the Midi Star Destroyer.
