  1. Here are photos of the flipped slopes. I went with the notched hinges because they do a better job of keeping everything in place. You are correct that the wheels don't spin, but there isn't a better solution. I feel that the tires Lego uses are a bit too chunky for a Muscle car. Since this isn't a play set, I went with better accuracy. I'm happy with it as my first automotive MOC. I had thought about doing a separate thread, but I wanted to show that Dr Nightmare inspired me. His Space Manta Ray reminds me of a Space Police hot-rod.
  2. I dig the Space Manta a lot. First is the photo of the flipped underside, which was too chunky; the thing that would have saved it would be 1x5 and 1x6 straight slopes. Ignore the two differently colored wings, I was testing how it would look if I raised the dark grey beltline one plate. I accomplished this using the notched plate hinges. Just flip one side so the studs are reversed on one side and use plates to space it properly. Next I built it with stepped plates which gives a better angle. So here is my final design, I'm as happy with it as I'm ever going to be.
  3. I hope you don't mind but I took a crack at it; its still a work in progress. You're right, that rear underside is a bear to do.
  4. Looks good, but you need the crash bars up front.
  5. Excellent job on one of my favorite ships.
  6. That's very nice.
  7. Before you began each building did you have almost all of the bricks, or would you test build a section out of the colors you had and then order the approximate amount you felt you would need?
  8. I noticed an error in the instructions. It doesn't instruct the user to add the 2x1 grill to the front. It just appears there.
  9. I don't think one is enough. Look at a side photo of the real car and compare your proportions in relation to the size of the wheels. I looks too stretched. I now feel that you have the height correct, but the length is wrong. 1. Move the 2x1 slope back one stud. 2. Move the 4x1 curved slope forward. 3. Shorten the hood just infront of the windshield by two studs at least. While you may need to do a different hinge design, you can keep the same one by having the clip brick come out as opposed to back from the front wheel. 4. The slope after the front wheel should be longer than the front one. 5. You may have to use a different slope for the rear; the flat two studs on top extend the roofline back too far. The rear is too fat and chunky, it slopes to a point. I do like the way you did the side pipes though.
  10. Not to mention width.
  11. It can be done inexpeonsively if you use alternate clors.P
  12. There are still issues with its proportions. The body is way too long for the size of those wheels. The front overhang looks good, but there is too much space between the wheels and there is too much overhang behind the rear wheels.
  13. Buy them used or build them out of another color.
  14. I like the design, but its too flat and long. IRL its curvy and muscular to the point of being cartoonish. If you are going to go with 8-wide, it needs to be taller which will help disguise the excessive length. I like the rear split window however.
  15. What about havingthe two bricks holding a jumper and attaching a single line of bricks to that.
  16. While I don't know for sure, I'm guessing there is a length of flex tubing and these attached to it: Then a sloped tile on it and they rest on the curved arch.
  17. You're being difficult. Do you want parts and figs from space sets, castle sets, town sets, pirate sets, Ninjago sets, or Friends sets? If you really don't have a preference we can't answer more specifically, so just walk into a toy shop and buy any $40 set.
  18. Its a great MOC, I hope one of them buys it from you or commissions a second one. That would be pretty cool. In a similar vein, I always wondered what one of the Pythons like Terry Gilliam would think of my Crimson Permanent Assurance.
  19. This is also a good introduction to building on a micro scale. If you enjoy it then it doesn't take a lot of bricks to make additions to this mini street; you could always buy a second set and use the parts from that to add several of your own designs to the block..
  20. I have several tubs of older bricks which are unorganized and dirty. Eschewing modern techniques and not worrying about new grey vs old grey I decided to start building smaller sculptures using only the bricks in those tubs. The first one fits the primary lego palette quite well. http://www.flickr.com/photos/gotoandlego/
  21. I think the gun needs to be a color other than white.
  22. I think some of the issue is the type of sets available. Aside from the inventor's workshop and possibly the petshop, the rest place girls in more domestic roles. For example, Lego could have easily friendified a doctor's office. Now I do understand that girls do like feminine things and there is nothing wrong with that, but there should be balance with other roles for girls. Obviously Lego has a lot inveted in the new colors so those will make up the primary colors, but I just don't think the color pallette is the real issue.
  23. I disagree, I hadn't bought a Lego set in decades until I saw the Midi Falcon. After that I got back into it fully. I think the same will be true for the new Superhero sets.
  24. Don't you mean anything pre-OT. :D
  25. What did they say when you called them?
