The original Hero Factory sets, or later ones?
-
What difference does it make? Did it occur to you that these might be just an army of identical characters? I mean, it's not like LEGO hasn't done this before... *cough*StarWarsChimaNINJAGO(in the TV show)HeroFactoryBIONICLEITSELF*cough* The presence of a machine gun embedded in someone's chest isn't an indication of anything whatsoever. If they're all just mindless robots built to fight, why are there variations between them other than elementally? Why do they wear masks at all? etc The lack of a name means nothing either. As I (sort of) mentioned earlier, they could just be an army of villagers. Saves on having to make multiple unique sets, allows kids to collect a whole bunch of the same set without whining that they're the same set, etc. For all we know they could even have randomized brain stalks (Yes please!) to vary them up. Don't hold you breath on the robot theory, because we've got little to no details on the plot other than Okoto and some flashy bling-bling masks EDIT: ah, crud. Wasted my 500th post I thought I hadn't used that other one... well, happy 500th post to me

This. CCBS is a great system, but it's incredibly limited when it comes to set design. At the very least, I want to see a redesigned torso and Shells. The shells are far too streamline IMO (not to mention how gappy they look), and the torso has needed a better design since day 1. While yes, it's very versatile, but when it comes to humanoid characters it doesn't offer a lot in the way of complexity eg the Technic Backpacks. Back armor has always looked out of place on CCBS because it's either too gappy, a gigantic extension of the back (*cough*2015*cough*), mostly non-existent or even completely non-existent! Oh look at that. I just wasted my final post before my special surprise ranting about CCBS's downsides Anyway, some of the sets are growing on me but I can't see myself seriously buying Lewa or Gali if not for parts. I know that Kopaka's original mask was spaced out with the monocle... things... but am I the only one who thinks it's far too spaced out? If it were closer together I'd consider buying Kopaka but that one section throws it all off for me with how flat it is.

I never buy knock-offs. As I said, my Jay minifigure was not with me at the time, I was mostly working off of internet photos. And the CGI rendering they did of Jay this year looked pretty close to Dark Azure. I've just gone over and checked, and yes, mine is the same blue as the other Jays. However, regarding the "MIGHT" part, it's going to be one hell of a screw-up if he isn't. Both the box art and the "set view" depict him as Dark Azure, including top and bottom Minifig shots. The robot in Ninja DB X (as the box calls it) is Dark Azure as well, if the photos are to be believed. When Just2Good uploads the Mech photos, then we'll know. Also, regarding the human villains and jungle setting; "all who enter are never found" *hint hint*

Nope, I checked my Kimono Jay with the Jungle edition. It's the same light blue as Alien Conquest, it's too bright. And Jay from this year used the same light blue. Although my Jay Minifig is at my Aunt's (I have to live in two separate houses due to schoolwork and stuff ) Yeah, it's become clear to me that a lot of the things happening in this wave have been played out directly to set this all up. Hopefully it means we'll get a proper explanation for the Overlord and *you know who's* way of cheating death. The whole "Overlord is an evil spirit" doesn't work when everyone who dies can possess inanimate objects to survive. The introduction of 1-2 rogue Samurai and human villains is a really good change from previous years.

Sure, I used prnt sc to get higher quality ones than Brickshelf (I used .bmp too, so there's no gigantic quality variance). I'll need a moment or two, my internet is laggy but I'll upload them to Majhost. There are some... "issues" with them, namely a big grey line down the side. It's distracting, but not detracting. Some of them I had to clip a bit, too, I realized too late a better way to do things and couldn't be bothered to go back :P EDIT: nah, taking far too long for a single image. Sorry.

The BIONICLE fanbase unknown guy in the shadows. Probably, like many others I really doubt that LOSS is all we're going to get for a villain with little bugs to do his bidding. Otherwise this is just a glorified of Brain Attack and IFB mixed together

The white-red robed weirdo and the Shogun are both bad guys. Sorry to burst the bubble. You can however, see some slight black curves. Someone please slap me around the head if I'm wrong, but we STILL have a light-blue Jay. Ugh. I didn't even notice the color change until recently and its still annoying me.

EDIT: removing this because it could start another argument now that I think of it

I feel this should be the thread's theme music

I can't see any curves? The rest of the armor styles for the ninja look very similar. Dr. Cogg, thank you, but we've already seen them both.

Wait, what? When did the name change? Was it in the fresh batch of leaks we just got?

They sort of "fizzled" in Episode 31. After that he was fine for the rest of the season.

Oh, sorry. Just you seemed to be using something I said. I didn't think you were singling me out at all. My apologies. It was my fault for the confusion. Again, sorry. I've had a rough life when it comes to arguments and getting singled out by other people

Sorry, it was hard to see in 360p. They both looked orange-y yellow, and I assumed it was the lighting. Zane always was a "full-on robot" really. He was just never shown to be

If you're going to downright insult people, at least don't box them all into one category simply because it fits you best. Did I call it childish? No. Did I call it generic? Somewhat. For a long while I was under the impression BIONICLE was about robots fighting each other to awaken a giant robot, and that was the plot in a nutshell to me. Then I watched the movies again (I couldn't remember anything of them from when I had watched them prior) and discovered they all worshiped Mata Nui. Soon I discovered also that it was about astrology, etc. BIONICLE went downhill from there for me. I never called the line childish for using magic, I have no problem with using magic in a plot. NINJAGO's used it twice now, but while both were major events in themselves they were relatively minor (it's been well established now that the Elemental Powers can be described as "magic", but are not in fact "magic"). My main problem was that I thought BIONICLE's previous plot had been about science, and good fighting evil. My second problem was not that it was magic, but that it was made from magic. Made of solid gold and quote unquote raw magic makes it sound nothing more than silly in my opinion, crafting a mask from solid gold and raw magic? If I were to exaggerate this I would liken it to Back to the Future and the joke of buying Uranium on every corner shop made by Doc Brown. Ironically you yourself jumped to a gigantic conclusion yourself and an annoying end to your argument by boxing a bunch of people into one category. Did I jump to a conclusion in my argument? Yes and no. I didn't know that the original BIONICLE plot and me didn't mesh together very well. But leaving that aside, would I have had the same reaction had this been a new line? No. I would have down-right rejected it, in fact. Is it childish for magic? No. It's not incredibly generic because of the magic, and nevertheless despite its uniqueness I don't care for it more than I would Call of Duty MW3, or Iron Man 2. That's not to say the plot is bad. It's unexplored territory for me and they very well could bring me back in. The old plot (which we seem to slightly retreading, but it may be entirely different) has left a sour taste in my mouth. But really though, be careful of grouping people like that. Had this been another forum I don't even want to think of the flaming you might get. Anyway, back on-topic, after seeing the NINJAGO sets for this year BIONICLE has lost me almost entirely now. I'll only be picking up Pohatu/LOSS/Protectors, and only on the off-chance I find them cheap.

For the record guys, when I was talking about the purple ninja and white ninja I was working from Just2Good's descriptions, not from the rumor mill. Titanium Dragon: Looks gorgeous. It's a must-buy now. Unsure of who the character is alongside the Anacondrai. Anacondrai Copter Attack: Skyler is too far away to get many details, but it's a bit odd how she is a yellow ninja, not orange. Kinda bugs me because there's no color variation. Copter looks brilliant, there's two seats for the cultists, and a clear mechanism for the net launcher. Ninja DB X: Looking good! I don't think that's Jole in the driver seat. If it is, that's an amazing kind of plot continuation, but I somehow doubt it's Jole in particular. Far too tall, Jole was a midget. Still could be him though, maybe when we get official (HD) images we can see the names. Shrine is unimpressive, but to be expected. Nya's changed her look, and the Command Center is fatter than it looked in the prelims. Also the ridiculous cow-catcher is gone, yay! Enter The Serpent: Looks far better than it did before, the mere inclusion of the rope bridge varies it up nicely from other sets of the same kind. Oh, and the cultist on the upper right hand corner is wielding the magic PLOT DEVICE! Anacondrai Crusher: Not very many changes, still going to buy it. Eyes look bad as always. But wait! Kai features his special symbol printed on his crown! Still curious to see what it has to do with anything. Jungle Trap: Impulse set, still buying. Looks prettier now due to the special effects and lighting. Kai of the Jungle uses the old mouth gi, which I'm happy about. Would have hated to see it leave so early. The cultist has snake tatoos on him, oooh. That could be useful for CITY MOCing, in particular for jails and criminals. Lava Falls: One of my faves just for the feature, not much has changed. Cultist has same pieces as Jungle Trap's, and Cole looks... okay. Just not a huge fan of the new "lower" outfit. It looks nice, but just a bit... "raw". Looks very good from above, I like the tiling. Lloyd's Jungle Raider: Must buy now. That's just beautiful Dojo Showdown: Still no Sensei Wu. This worries me, because if Wu dies or leaves the plot I want it to be for a meaningful reason. Looks like an "okay" set, nothing unusual about the design- Wait a minute! Is that the Scythe of Quakes I see!? That's going to shake up the new plot if it really is the Scythe. Looks like every character other than Kai is a villain, that white ninja is on the same "side" as the villains in the white-screen shot. Lo and behold, the dreaded flick missiles dare to show their ugly face, but understandably. On second thoughts, that Scythe is built differently to the Scythe of Quakes, but it's very similar. Robed guy has a very long name, the one in black is "Barlar" or something. And the cultists have names! This one is Sleven. Sorry, only just turned 1080p on Anyway, if this is a "sequel" of sorts to the Dojo of Spinjitzu I'm impressed and unimpressed. It looks a lot better, but lacks a unique-ness to it. Interestingly enough, Kai and Barlar have their own flags atop it. Very mysterious. Boulder Blaster: Looks a lot nicer now! Getting this one too. However, the camera angle makes it look thinner than it actually is. Still retains the machine gun function. The Jungle Blades are a bit strange. They'll grow on me quickly, faster than the Techno Blades at any rate. Btw, Just2Good, I need to correct you, the box says Skylar, not Skylor

Dang, so they are a he? Well, there goes PIXAL being the new ninja. So three new ninja. I guess that means Borg, Pixal and Wu are off the main character list this year for the sets. Sigh... EDIT: alright, this clears up who the white ninja is in the promo artwork. Current characters for next year are: Kai Jay Zane (*certain metal edition*) Cole Lloyd Nya Garmadon Orange Ninja Purple Ninja New white ninja So the question must be asked, as it is clear these are the new elemental characters, what are their powers? Presumably ice for the new white ninja, but the red throws it off. Orange ninja could be fire? Doubtful as fire has been consistently portrayed through "red" characters. The purple ninja is beyond me, perhaps something to do with technology? Looking forward to seeing the new characters though.

Can we at least get a descr. ? :3

For further clarification, the guy just below the Titanium Dragon.

Not Skopio, Scorpio. Scorpio was from Savage Planet I disagree with you, though. CCBS would be a structural nightmare to work with when it comes to vehicles. And if it's going to be Technic-dependent to the point where CCBS is barely used, why even bother calling it a CCBS vehicle? It's one thing that frustrates me when people say CCBS is creeping into themes like NINJAGO or Star Wars. Simply put, it isn't. NINJAGO featured only 10 CCBS-specific parts (4x4s with sockets/balls on them do not count) this year, and next year has fewer according to the prelims. Star Wars is another story, but it's mostly brick-built. If LEGO had seen any advantage to making vehicles out of CCBS we would have seen them long ago. Speeda Demon, the one set in CCBS-specific lines that features a vehicle built for an action-figure sized character featured nearly no CCBS parts in its bike at all. Even if you want to count IFB, the builds were designed for minifigure-sized characters and many were Technic heavy to stabilize the design. Is it possible? Absolutely. On a large scale? Not effectively. Most certainly not for Skopio, if you want to retain the functionality. Sets like the 2008 ships, or in particular Lewa's ship plane thing, would have no actual benefit to using CCBS over Technic. This is one of the bigger gripes I have with CCBS regarding its "universal" system, but BIONICLE isn't going to be getting any kind of CCBS-heavy vehicles any time soon that aren't a Mech like Exo-Toa/Boxor. Not without a Technic revamp any time soon. EDIT: oops, I see you were talking about skorpio. sorry.

Not to mention prequels rarely ever pan out if they weren't planned from the start.
