It would indeed. It would also eliminate much of the hate for CCBS, because waist articulation only ever appeared in Titans. You can't argue about friction/weight issues with articulation, now that we have the Friction joints as well. Yes, they're a temporary solution, but a solution nonetheless. Just an upper torso and some new shells. That's all we need. edit: sorry, forgot about Pridak's articulation. Thanks Aanchir!

Those parts (pluss a new upper torso piece) would easily allow for LEGO to make torso articulation. Having torso articulation that could both bend forwards and turn sideways would give them a MASSIVE gain over regular action figures. Every non-LEGO action figure I had has never featured waist articulation, and LEGO implementing it wouldn't raise the prices too much, if at all.

Sorry mate, just beat you to waist articulation (been working on it for the past half hour, mostly comprised of finding parts) There are better ways to do it already that I figured out after I took the photos. Unfortunately, I don't have a second Glatorian neck to complete the shoulders. It's not perfect, but LEGO has more than enough ability to mold the entire top half into one joint and make a few new Shells for this. The worst part about this is that this had been doable since CCBS's debut wave. Using a "shin" bone with a single Technic hole on top would be better than what I've done, and I have some theories on trying to make the neck better. (because I'm not going to hide the fact I didn't factor in the head too much) EDIT: YAY 600th POST!

The whole "combination" thing with the Protectors is why I'm buying two of them each so I can have one that still retains his/her weaponry.

Wasn't it confirmed by a leaker we were getting Kaita? edit: yeah, by some guy on a French forum edit: wait, no. It was just "combiners"

I liked that concept, but those weren't really combiners. They combined two sets together, but they weren't mixing the two sets together to make something new.

Even if it does take off as a MOCing system it won't take off or remain as the old system (we REALLY need a better name for it than "old system" ) did with MOCing. While CCBS is standardized, it's specialized in its own way. The standardization limits potential greatly when it comes to armor attachments. It's both harder and easy to build with at the same time. Easier because of its style, harder because it's not very friendly to parts outside of the CCBS system. edit: Maybe when we see the new Combiners it might help.

Actually I'm pretty sure that this is what people are talking about when they say they "want more Technic". They don't simply want Technic slapped onto the back of a character, making the back of the build ugly and fat. They want Technic integration. BIONICLE had an insane amount of clone sets inside of itself that caused half the problems with the old system and molds, because LEGO gave each of them a whole bunch of exclusive molds (or in the Bohrok's case, ONE) to define them better. And it was the stupid idea of streamlining the Ball Cups that virtually killed any MOC making with parts from '08, '09 and '10. Yeah, sure, there were the armor pieces but the entire frame of the figure was basically permaglued to itself, as far as many were concerned. It's also the driving factor behind my fear of buying anything from back then in used condition. The two-pin system, while unique, has a lot of flaws from trying to be better than the previous system. Building is overly simplistic in many areas, and CCBS made no attempt to fix the torso articulation problem older sets had. Speaking of which, have we ever gotten a humanoid CCBS character with torso articulation? Evo XL doesn't count. Anyway, as I was saying, the main problem is that CCBS for the most part has had no real Technic integration. We haven't yet seen them make a "hip" and "shoulder" piece that could allow entire torsos to be made out of Technic and given the detailing and fittingly mechanical look for a Robot. Fortunately, there are ways to MOC this into place. And IMO I prefer spindly arms covered by lacking armor (looking at you, Mata Nui) to gappy streamlined Shells that seemed to be thrown on as an afterthought. 2.0 were the debut sets, and as the debut sets they reveal the system as it was first made. Not a single one of the Heroes had back armor, and later attempts to solve this are unfulfilled. The two-pin system, while very good, also feels like an afterthought too with how it's only found on the end side of the Shells. The XT4 torso taught me why flipping a Shell around to use it as desired was a bad idea too. So, is CCBS better than the old system? Yes and no. While it completed what it set out to accomplish, it failed for the most part in the MOCing department. Pure CCBS MOCs are hard to find, most are integrated in MOCs using the old system. And even then, there's only a sliver of CCBS on it. CCBS was designed purely as an easier building system, and for that reason I would be happy to wave goodbye to it. Most of the things seem like an afterthought to it, and it's very evident in the design that it wasn't as thoroughly thought out and planned as it could have been. Most notably the Shells and their gappy nature. I would hardly call this Technic integration for the most part, LOSS is mostly Technic. But the Toa aren't what I would call Technic usage for the most part. They use Technic and it is a very big part of the set, but it's not the main focus of the set. I'm just glad we're getting BIONICLE-esue parts this year like the new Sword/ski/surf piece, and the axe/flipper/trident piece, and the shovel/claws/shoulder armor. Very nice pieces. EDIT: They've modified the website. I think they changed the font, and they've separated the powers list. Not as good as I think many would want, but it's got full stops in-between powers now

Very true, but they're still clones I didn't say that clone sets are bad, just there's so many of them. That's the problem.

To be honest far too many BIONICLE builds were absolutely horrible or clone builds, something CCBS has "mostly" improved on. Case in point: >Bohrok >Bohrok Va (personality smershonality) >Bohrok Kal >Rahkshi >Canister Vahki >EVERYTHING from 2005 except the Titans, SYSTEM and Hagah >Inika. Except for Nuparu (shoulder cannon and Sniper Drill CCBS's first wave was a teeny bit different, although 2011 was an atrocious year in general for the Hero sets. Breakout was good, etc. Brain Attack was cartoony, and had a fair bit of variation. IFB was... so-so. Had a few good builds, but it's unbalanced by the bad ones. The new BIONICLE, however, I'm seriously hoping that they improve this. While I like the sets now, there's a lot of flaws regarding how CCBS was designed to be standardized rather than modular. edit: to clarify, CCBS IS modular. It's just that said modularity comes at a cost with the massive backpacks.

So does anyone know why the Visorak webbing is in the background of LOSS? I hope it doesn't mean we're getting Hordika again... Ugh, 2005 was a horrible year for BIONICLE. I wasn't even a fan back then and I can tell! (and I've bought Nuju simply because I could)

Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them Film Discussion

Why did I read the title as "LEGO Harry Potter spinoff"? -
Eh, couldn't be bothered to remember. Sorry. With how much they've emphasized the MoCr, I doubt that. MoCo will play a part, but why it's such a big deal is yet to be revealed. MoUP is more likely to be the main mask than MoCo, but I really hope it looks good with how much they've hidden its look. Awww... guess they're REALLY trying to keep the Protector stuff under wraps. They certainly implied it with "I'm not supposed to show this feature" at the panel, anyway. So I'm wondering what the giant reveal is. I understand the LOSS reveal, he's a throwback to the Rahi and Bohrok with his Technic build. Just hoping it isn't a simple grab function, and that it's more than that. edit: Oh, I also noticed just today Tahu uses Friction Joints on his feet. EDIT 2: OH WOW. THAT'S how it works!? I was expecting a Mini-gun style firing mechanism, but this is even cooler!

The second one's pot dissolved entirely to me halfway through. Suddenly it was "agh! we're split up!" then "kanoka discs!" then "we're all in jail" "MASK POWAR" "You were Lhikan all along" "Sailing a boat, sailing a *boom*" "I'm really Makuta! Even though I had no actual backstory introduced in the movie" "I'm forging a mask without tools!" That was basically LoMN in a nutshell for me. EDIT: Why hello there, juicy plot details! http://www.brothers-...-for-2015-news/ So Makuta IS going to be making a return as the villain. I guess this means an LotR analogy really is accurate, given the whole "materializing" thing. Oh, and could someone that was at the VIP event or handled the Blasters (Looking at you, DeeVee ) be able to make a video demonstrating them?

Asleep doesn't equate to not-doing-stuff. We still have no idea of the motive for the Skull Spiders to find the Masks, and it's pretty unlikely they wouldn't capitalize on Makuta soon. It's not out of the question though, but given that he's only been seen as a Protector (which could change easily with a later release) thus far I doubt he's going to be changed too much. edit: gah, sorry for the incoherent post. It's late, I'm tired, and I'm trying to win dat Trans Hau

Well, that's what I was thinking. That's why I said "at worst". It would be highly anticlimactic for just a Protector, but he could appear in two sets a la the second wave of NINJAGO in 2011. Garmadon WAS featured in four sets, but what I'm getting at was that he was in a Spinner and high-priced sets. But from what we've seen so far, him appearing as anything other than a Protector build with some stuffz added in is looking slim.

Future "big villain" set? You sure? Makuta didn't increase in size (despite what it looked like) in the trailer. At worst he'll be a Protector-esque set. Both Ekimu and both variants of Makuta have probably been designed with Protector style in mind, and at the very least they both set themselves apart in the ways their armor attaches. It's also a very good throwback to Makuta being a McToran in 01

Not really. Taking a look at the ridges, etc, and comparing them to Var's closeups indicates that they're very similar but not the same. I would say the MoUP did, the Legends trailer implied it at any rate, as it "took control over him".

Aaaaand LEGO.com/bionicle is now listed as Page Not Found. ._. EDIT: Now it's back... weird. Hmm... the black mask we keep seeing must be the Mask of Ultimate Power. So much for getting "slighty-less evil" Makuta...
