I was under the assumption that this was automatically out of the question for all licensed themes. Personally, I think single-faction battle packs are better for variety reasons. It's also useful if you only want a small group of one faction and an army of another. I know this means we'll probably see less factions at a time, but I can't understand why they can't release more than two battle packs per year (at least, Star Wars does this). Also, I think the brick-built components are fine. Look at the Uruk-hai Army set, if you get multiples you can create a longer wall. That's pretty good, actually, compared to small catapults and flick-fire missiles.

I don't know... I rather like detailed minifigs (even overly detailed ones). Maybe it's just me, and maybe it's got to do with the fact that I don't collect normal action figures. However, in this case with the Gamorrean, I'd say the old one's head was better. I don't know, this version looks weird. On another topic, the Striker can open? Okay, that completely justifies the thinness for me now. I didn't know it could before.

Hmm. While a license extension is great and all, Star Wars could be seen as getting "old" (even though I've only started collecting since about 2005). Ten years is a long time. The old Original Trilogy will be even older, and I don't know if the Clone Wars will even continue for that long. I don't know, really. I don't want Star Wars to end, but then, it's about time something else (such as Lord of the Rings) took over as Lego's major licensed theme.

I watched the film again yesterday, and I didn't really notice the armoured Orcs the first time around. There's a real missed opportunity there, they look rather scary. The helmet could have been done. As for having Uruk-hai shields, it's likely they have them because replacements weren't available. The shield is kind of complex, but there's a pretty good chance it could be made. On another note, the box art is pretty funny. The Orc Forge shows Castle Orcs, Merry is completely oblivious to the Ringwraiths and Pippin is completely oblivious to the Cave Troll.

Well yes, but "micro" doesn't necessarily refer to the size of the sets. Maybe it refers to the amount of the in-game world featured? Maybe? ...Okay, yeah. No Minecraft figures then. I was probably aiming a bit too high. I expected a small line with small scenes and figures, but this seems to state that it's one single set in small-scale. Oh well.
-
Oh wow. Minor complaints... the Orc Forge seems to have two Uruk-hai. I think most of us would have preferred five Orcs. Also, the Moria Orcs have Uruk-hai shields. One major complaint I do have is the Uruk-hai Berserker, which I was looking forward. to. No separate helmet piece? Overall, though, the sets are great.

Ah, right. I think the armour piece is a bit plain though, it could do with some anyway. Also, curses! I missed the image, whatever it was...

Some pictures are still up on Hothbricks (thanks!) if you've missed them. Hmm, Pre Viszla's Fighter looks, well, disappointing from this image. I know the ship itself is flat, but it kind of looks... too flat. I know it's preliminary though, and from what the Republic Striker and Jabba's Palace have already highlighted, judging by prelims alone isn't really accurate. On the other hand, the Fury looks a bit too thick. I love the Sith Troopers though. They look weird, but in a good way.

I know this is late, but since nobody mentioned it... I really hope this doesn't mean the Minecraft sets will be micro-scale. It looks that way from this image. Also, Minecraft works for me again! Apparently it wasn't my graphics card or anything like that. It's a bit late now though...

Ooh, so there is some variation. I hope the Uruk-hai Army set contains just the basic version though, for army-building reasons. Wait, is the armour printed? They must have changed from the version we saw in the wallpaper thing. Hopefully we'll get the white hand a few times, preferably on the helmets if printing isn't too hard.
-
I've finally watched the video. Yep, so much for a bad model. Jabba's palace looks great. One thing that would have been nice is the front half, because it's only complete from the back. We're actually not missing much, just a wall. Still, I think that would have improved the set. Maybe it'll be available with a Rancorr in the future.

I started an off-topic conversation. Okay, back on topic now before I start another one, I wonder if there's any variation in the Uruk-hai? I just found out about the Uruk-hai Berserker, which are apparently in the second movie. Is there any chance of them appearing in Helm's Deep? Since there are five Uruk-hai in the set, I think it could be possible that one or two of them could be a Berserker.
-
Nice! I think the Gungan Sub might still be slightly preliminary though, I think there's more blue on the front... Jabba is interesting. While the printing is nice, he does look a bit like his Clone Wars version.

At first, I thought you were talking about the wings. Then I noticed the arm joints. I'd normally complain about an arm variant like this but it seems to work nicely. The figure looks a lot like Man-Bat from the Lego Batman game. I would have preferred the wings to be attached on the neck like the game's version, though. The new wing mould in the Catwoman set could have worked.
-
Perhaps. I think it could have worked though. If you look at the way the Fellowship is scattered throughout the sets, it's a fairly even spread. You need most of the sets for all of the characters. I think the main problem isn't really that they're identical. If anything, it's probably for set reasons. A full lineup of the Black Riders would be a good marketing strategy, but they'd be kind of tedious to see over and over again. They should deserve to be in at least one more set (with horses) though. On another topic, I think a Balrog set would be nice.
-
Hmm, I know there's a second wave with sets from The Hobbit, but will they include sets from the other movies? If we're getting a new sword mould for Sting, it'd be great if we also got a "glowing" blue variant along with it. I noticed some parts in the first movie that Sting didn't glow despite the presence of Orcs, but it's a fairly important feature of the sword and I think it deserves a variant.

*Ahem* wait, what? It's too bad the server's been discontinued. I couldn't have played on either of my computers anyway because one's too weak to run Minecraft now and the other is an updated version. Oh well, I guess we'll have to find another server then. I wonder if anyone else here has an existing server already.

I finally see the Quinjet! I can't believe I hadn't noticed it for days though I was looking straight at it. Interesting. I kind of expected something with more colour though.
-
Hmm, interesting. The Malevolence looks nicer now. And yay, they fixed the Republic Striker at last! I wonder what the Gungan Sub and the Fury will look like.
-
Hmm, the Bite Cycle looks nice. The Samurai Mech looks bulkier now, I think it was better before. The Ultra Sonic Raider is growing on me though, remove the treads and it becomes some kind of aerial transport. It looks like it belongs in a space theme or something. And wow, the Snake Generals are amazing. We finally have all five of those snake tail pieces we saw ages back from that Chinese website. Edit: Hey, the Ultra Sonic Raider actually does detach.
-
Well yes, that's what I meant. I think the set might have been better as a slightly raised platform with just the top area, so the ruins and everything. Then again, it'll mean missing out on the horses...
-
Ooh nice. The Ghost Train is still great, though I don't really like the front as it looks like the skull has a nose. The castle reminds me a bit of the old Arkham Asylum set. I think the small set next to it can connect somewhere.
-
Ah, nice! The sets look better now. I'm not quite sure about the accuracy of these sets. The Weathertop set would have definitely been better if it didn't include the small cave. I wonder if multiples of the Uruk-hai Army set can be connected together to form a larger wall. I'll be getting at least two of that set.
-
Ah, you're right. That's a shame, it's a rather nice colour.
-
Yeah, I agree. Perhaps a skirt piece might have helped though. Leg printing could have also worked because they are a bit plain. While it's not hard to make custom versions, you really can't get any better than that. I'd rather have an "insulting" official minifigure than have none at all... Nazgûl costumes are multi-layered and are rather detailed. Even if the print was more detailed, there's still nothing you can do about their shape.
