  1. Ooh, that works quite well. There's a bit of an awkward gap in the middle though.
  2. The Batman characters were DLC, and as you said, those characters weren't part of the story... but what other characters could you add in this case that aren't featured significantly in the movies? Sauron himself only appeared in a couple of flashbacks, so they probably could have cut him out. I know he's an important character, but it's possible. The old-styled Robin was DLC in Lego Batman 2. Added to that, I have no idea who Imrahil, Beregond and Theodred are, I'm pretty sure those were only in the extended editions. They seem like obscure characters which would fit well into the DLC category.
  3. Hmm. The cape-raising piece intrigues me, but it's probably just a slightly-longer cape on top of a shoulder part. I still don't really like the faces of the minifigs. They look a bit too cartoonish to me. I wonder if those crystal parts are actually those moonstone pieces from Monster Fighters? They look kind of similar.
  4. Well, that's interesting. I definitely didn't expect rip-cord motorcycles. The figures are a little... ehh... though I guess you could make them fight the Ninjago snakes or something.
  5. Hey look, it's the staff design I posted a while back. Nice minifig, though the beard/moustache looks a bit off to me.
  6. Is this the new one (9509)? I think I got the last Star Wars advent calendar early this year, so that seems a bit early. Edit: and does that mean Dino is no longer a Big W exclusive?
  7. Yep, but the version of the staff in the poster has two studs on top of the telescope. Removing one or both of the studs might fix the height problem.
  8. This kind of off-topic, but I just wanted to share this... Link After thinking over this for way too long, I finally figured out how Gandalf's staff in the poster is connected. Unfortunately, this piece doesn't come in anything but white, and the telescope piece is the wrong colour too. It's possible, at least, that we'll get that version of the staff. It does mean making two pieces in two new colours, but it's possible...
  9. Looks great! The colours and environment of the whole thing work really well.
  10. Thanks for the information! I'm actually rather disappointed with the asteroid, of all things. I would have liked a "plastic potato" thing, just for comedic value, but if it's actually just a simulation of space with asteroids drawn on...
  11. Ooh hello. Yeah, I just assumed it was some kind of misprint at the time, but I'm starting to wonder if this might have been an accidental early release, like the new Batman cowl. If it's actually a production error, it seems almost too perfect to be true... but either way, its inclusion in the set was definitely a mistake. There's a Hobbit trilogy now? When did that happen? I was initially quite confused that they were going to split The Hobbit into two films at first, seeing as each film of the Lord of the Rings trilogy corresponds to a book, but now I'm really confused. Oh well, can't be a bad thing.
  12. Ooh, information. I haven't been following this too closely. Yay for the A-Wing and AT-RT! I've missed all of the incarnations of those, so it'd be nice to get them. The battle packs seem interesting. Unfortunately, with the Clone one, it'll probably contain some sort of variant I've never seen before in my life. I'd gladly swap out those Droidekas for some standard Clones. The planet sets also seem a little weaker this time around. An asteroid? Really? I can always do with more Astromechs, but it's hardly relevant to Kamino unless if it was Obi-Wan's Astromech, whose name slips my mind...
  13. Ooh, this looks nice. I missed the male surfer and dancer figures, so the fact that these are rereleases is a good thing. It's too bad that this is another one of those store exclusive things...
  14. Oh dear, not even Lord of the Rings is safe from the curse of the exclusive minifig... I didn't actually expect Elrond to be exclusive. I thought the figure was going to be in a set. I might pick up the game for the figure, or I might skip it for now. I'm only hesitant to because, like many other things, the price of games here is pretty much double the cost elsewhere.
  15. I just noticed the spider vehicle thing. That'd be a great set if it were released. It's sad to learn that this theme was cancelled despite a second wave being planned. I feel guilty now for not buying more of the sets when I had the opportunity. I was waiting for the next wave.
  16. Yay! It's great we're going to actually get Venom. I was worried he was going to be the exclusive. This looks like a good opportunity to get some of the older figures; Scarecrow, the Penguin and Mr. Freeze. I hope Scarecrow has an alternate face or head, because he looks a bit sedated. The others are all great. On a side note, Nova's helmet looks like it could be a good Easterling (Lord of the Rings) helmet if you added the spiked things.
  17. Oops, seems like I was wrong about it being a "complete" building, but it certainly looks complete from the front. It's pretty much the right size anyway. Any bigger and they'd have to include more of the hill with it.
  18. At least it's not the "real" Venom, only the animated version. Hopefully if Venom proves to be an actual exclusive, it might just mean we're not getting this particular variant of Venom elsewhere. It's still a nice minifigure though, and it'd go well with the animated Spider-Man.
  19. Wow, that's quite nice. Unlike a few other buildings, Bag End looks "completed". Looks like there's a light brick too. This is definitely a good set to start off with, and possibly one of the nicest structures we've seen so far.
  20. (From the 2012 thread, this one's more relevant now) Oh right, that's what those holes are for! I was wondering about those. So it looks like the Rancor Pit indeed can be added beneath Jabba's Palace. The Rancor itself looks great. I was expecting a more enclosed Rancor Pit, but it's not too bad considering Jabba's palace isn't really enclosed either. Pardon my ignorance, but are those shelf displays purely decorative or do some hint at new sets? The Kashyyyk display looks nice, as does Vader's medical droid and the Trident.
  21. Gah, more exclusives. We've had six already! I'm not particularly familiar with them, but the minifigs look pretty good. I hope Venom isn't an exclusive... I don't think it would be that difficult to include Venom in a set, depending on what the source material is.
  22. Hmm, interesting news. I can't really visualise a Rancor Pit set in the context of Jabba's Palace. Perhaps it'll be a half-enclosed thing which you can connect to the underside of 9516? I hope it'll have some connection to the set, rather than being a standalone thing. It'd also give the trapdoor in Jabba's Palace a proper function.
  23. last updated his profile 11/07/12, writing his life story while he was at it.

  24. Hmm, some nice new pieces here. I wonder if there's any particular reason Bombur has a larger chest? He stands out a bit from the others. Okay, looked it up. I know why now.
  25. Hmm. Definitely out of my price range, but a nice model nonetheless. The wings do look a bit thick though.
