LOL...I know. He's a great guy with uber patience at the PaB wall. He gave me some strategies when we went to the Rockefeller Grand Opening. I can get now about $60/$70.00 + dollars worth of bricks in a large PaB cup and that's with not doing his tiered strategy. Just some basic tip mostly connecting bricks together, putting small pieces at the bottom(filling the bottom), etc.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion

Good list. You could put the female Tennis Player into the 'Sports' theme and the Karate Master (which could also be in Japan as well). And probably the Cyborg could be in a Space/Sci-Fi theme. -
Here's some good strategy from Long Island LUG President 'notenoughbricks'. PaB Cup Strategy

LEGO STORE Queens Center Mall GRAND Opening! Link to the LEGO Store Elmhurst (Queens Center Mall Store) that I update every couple of week with Store Events, Club Meetings, Monthly Mini-Builds, etc. LEGO STORE Elmhurst Queens! The Queens Store staff are extremely friendly and run great club meetings and the mini-builds. Always feels like I'm at a convention with their events. Loads of fun!

I wear my usual "This is My Costume" orange t-shirt (very creative) and take my kid (as a Ninja...don't kids just love them Ninja's)and we're gonna' hit the LEGO store first. They're giving out some treats and some Lego Universe stickers. They're pretty cool at this store. Then we'll hit the pavement and as many houses as we can...usually encounter a group of kids as Jedi's...see if we can kick their butts..get back home and hand out our little bags of candy and this year, comic books. Some kids still do it but back in my day we'd throw eggs and spray shaving cream on cars, buses, etc. But less and less I see this. For the better I guess...

Great new accessories. I just ordered a bunch of shields and weapons from them. Excellent parts and thier delivery is fast. -
Love how you've used some literature for your MOC. Great stuff. Great top wall details. Look forward to more of your Odyssey story based Moc's!

Excellent review! Makes me want to pick this kit up. The mini-figs are cool and I like that it has lot's of accessories. Question, not a huge fan of the movies (I've only seen the 1st 2 awhile back) but tell me...the fireplace that you can teleport from...is that a part of the house or in the film it's separate from the home and outside on the grounds?

Beautiful stain glass work! Love the exterior and interior but would've definitely loved to have scene you interior details...altar, pews, etc. Forgive if it was mentioned before...maybe you're going the way of micro-scale figures?

Thanks for the sneak peak pics GreenBrickGiant! Love those Egyptian sets. That's definitely on my list for 2011! And thx to Tervlon for his pics too. Loved checkin' out all the previews. Too bad you had to take them down but again, thx for given the paying public a little head's up on it.

Forgive if these were posted before. Saw these on Flickr a little while ago from Tervlon's Photostream. I think this will be big for the kid's and Afol's will dig the figs! Fun stuff!!! I'd pay to see Ninja's vs. Nazi Bikers: The Movie... http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/PencillerZero/5014808060_779829cf49_b.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/PencillerZero/5014808186_d756ababfd_b.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/PencillerZero/5014201011_3f811718f6_b.jpg

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion

I'm not too jazzed about Series III either...but there are a couple I'd like to pick up... -The Samurai looks good but they should've done the sword in chrome. -Native American Chief's head-dress looks good but instead of the plain spear (which is the same one from the Spartan?)make the feathers accessory from the previous Native American be able to clip onto the spear to give it more uniqueness. -I like the Cyborg but the pics I've seen I can't get a real good look at his face through the helmet visor. -Somethin' with the Female Snowboarder(?)looks off. Like the helmet? Is that how it looks for snowboarders? The snow-board itself is cool though. -The Racecar driver should've had like a bottle of milk accessory or a racecar trophy. -The Rapper looks off to me. Again, low rez pic but the face looks off. The boombox is cool though. -Elf Warrior looks very cool. Especially the shield. -Sumo is a big failure. Why not make a more stoudt, thick body for him. That's what's unique about a sumo-wrestler in the first place. Plus the 'diaper' they wear should've been molded and be able to snap into the larger torso. There are some decorative ones I've seen that would've been very cool and unique. -Really, really disappointed in the 'alien'. I was so looking forward to a new-unique design for this. Something cool, scary...or just plain interesting. This is (and anyone correct me) the same head as Squidman or Squidtron(?) from Space Police. This is a terrible figure to include in this line. -Like the Mummy but maybe a Scarab beetle accessory would've been cool. -Tennis Player is cool for the racket. -Baseball player looks excellent...can't make out what it says on his uniform. Love the bat accessory. -Gorilla is ok...more like a guy in a gorilla-suit. They should make a thicker body that snaps over the torso ala' Chewbacca to give it a better look. -Hawain Girl is good but maraccas? Why not a small guitar? -Pilot looks good. Fits into a 1930's/40's theme. Like his bomber jacket torso. -Fisherman has a cool new rod accessory. -
***NEW*** SEPTMEBER UPDATES for the LEGO Store, Queens Center Mall. Once again, another fun filled month at the LEGO Store this September! Here's the recap... - September Monthly Mini-Model Build (Boy with backpack/school bag-a Back to School theme) in which (again)over 150 kids attended! - Wonderful and nicely printed Harry Potter book covers were given out to customers who make a $50.00 purchase. - September LEGO Club Meeting...Hero Factory theme in which the kiddie's MOC'd their own Hero Factory robot, got free an exclusive Hero Factory t-shirt featuring a cool Preston Stormer graphic on the front, a large grab bag of Hero Factory parts (they had a choice of taking home their MoC or the Grab Bag), stickers and a $5.00 off LEGO coupon! - 2 Exclusive Lego Club Duplo bricks (these were supposed to be given to customer last month with a $35.00 purchase but now were given to the kiddie's at the Club Meetings and any children with their parents making a purchase). - Plus customers who purchased the Motorized AT-AT got an additional 25 VIP Points added to their card. Very cool Adrian! I love Indy MoC's. Ah poor Donovan...he's just a lump of bones...he chose...poorly... You know, I think there's a dealer on eBay who makes/sells a custom/brown Holy Grail cup that would be cool for your MoC.

A masterpiece! Really incredible...and there's more details coming too(especially want to see Neptune's statue)? Love to see the definitive final version. Great build!

Separating a 2 x 2 plate from a base plate

That's exactly what I use Rick...I just got a couple of the games and didn't realize I could use the wrench tool that way. Works like a charm. -
Brickmaster Magazine Changing in 2011
LegoDad42 replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It sucks 'cause I really enjoyed getting the models and coupons. For $40.00 dollars it really was a bargain if you break it down. It was more than $150.00 worth of stuff per subscription. Hopefully IF they continue they'll still offer the mini-models for a decent price. It was fun. The mini-models alone this year were totally worth it and the coupons were put to good use too. My son and I loved it. We'd read the comics together...he'd have fun with the puzzles at home and even when we traveled...and of course he had a lot of fun putting the models together. I also like the alternate builds they had for different sets that we already had. Just got my last issue today. We got a Prince of Persia set with a small fun trap and a couple of interesting pieces...and a Dastan mini-fig. This last issue for me is one of the best one's yet! Has a good article on the LEGO master builders and NELUG members who worked on the Ribbon Models for the Rockefeller store (check out my flickr link to see all them I took at the Grand Opening). Also has many alternate builds...1 for this months mini-model itself, An 8095 General Grevious ship alternate(a stealth recon ship), 5892 Sonic Boom alternate (a space scout craft), and build a Lucas Valor from Hero Factory models 7164, 7167, and 7165. Plus some basic instructions for an Ocean Liner, an Elephant, and the Liberty Bell. Sorry to see it go...I can only hope the new incarnation has more LEGO culture articles, less large ad's disguised as activities, keep the alternate builds, keep the comics/puzzles/etc., new idea build inspirations...and of course they gotta' keep the mini-models all for a decent price. Some of those mini-models go for like $10- $20 on the secondary market a pop. But I fear perhaps, it'll be more expensive with less models. -
Fantastic and beautiful landscaping. Love it!
-
Such a great looking model, I really love the whole design, the massive feel...but...I'm disappointed in some drawbacks. Why couldn't the landing gear on such an expensive model be incoroporated and retractable (like the one from the Polish AFoL builder)? Stickers??? C'mon. Again with an expensive set these things need to be printed. Over time the stickers are gonna' peel off, crack, etc (maybe glue them and seal them). The name plate w/specs for sure has to be printed. And for me...I think they should've really made some exclusive re-designs on the mini-figs to give you a truly special kit. Man, I got so many gripes but this model looks so beautiful, it's real tempting...maybe...
-
Just beautiful! An tremendous model....you are a true master!
-
Sounds like you got back about less than $1400.00 worth of Star Wars for about $1150.00 worth of Batman sets and mini-figs. It's roughly a fair swap if they were all MISB...but looks like you got some used and missing some elements. Not sure of prices if they're used and missing parts but regardless (I figured the lower end prices on the sets), looks like you made out about $250.00 ahead in the deal (rough estimate).

My 5 best finds... - Death Star 10188 ($400 kit) paid $265.00 no shipping but tax. - Space Skulls 10192 ($100 kit) paid $20.00, free shipping, no tax(saved $89.00). - Space Police Galactic Enforcer ($100 kit) paid $65.00, no shipping but tax. - Indiana Jones Temple of Doom ($90 kit) paid $76.00 which included shipping, no tax(saved $22.00). - Batman The Tumbler: Joker's Ice Cream Surprise ($50 kit) but paid $35, free shipping and no tax Xmas of 2008, then the line was cancelled and it skyrocketed the following spring to over $200.00. Now I believe it's going for well over $300.00 MISB.

There's one at Rockefeller Center in NYC which opened the end of June and just about a 30min. subway ride to Queens is the Queens Center Mall's LEGO Store(Opened mid/end of June with their Grand Opening early July). FYI - The Rockefeller LEGO Store has their prices about 10% higher than the Queens store. The Queen's store also has a small section for kits with dented boxes for about 10%-20% off (for those that don't care for a mint box...great for parts!) while the Rockefeller store has a larger Pick A Brick Wall (supposedly the largest PAB Wall for any LEGO Store).
