  1. It's definitely ok to use whatever elements from various companies to enhance, compliment your MOC or MoD's. It's all up to the builder on which parts to use. No rules and no restriction when you're creating. Art doesn't have rules.
  2. ***NEW*** NOVEMBER and DECEMBER Updates for the LEGO Store, Queens Center Mall. OK...hope everyone is having a joyous holiday season and having fun with their Advent Calendars. So far the Kingdom's Advent Calendar hasn't disappointed. Great mini-figs and quite a few weapons to help ring in Xmas with the glory of battle! I missed my November update but since there were no LEGO Club Meetings for November (and December either), I'll combine my LEGO Store, Queens Center Mall updates below. I've updated my Flickr set(It's roughly the last 75+ pics added with the MMMB Builds, Christmas themed items, even Pharaoh's Quest kits came in early so, as usual, a busy 2 months)...here's the link... NOVEMBER/DECEMBER LEGO Store Updates! Plus here's a link to the January 2011 Store Calendar. An incredibly busy month ahead so take a look. NinjaGO is in full force beginning the New Year! LEGO Store Calendar JANUARY 2011 Breakdown of November and December Store happenings... - November Monthly Mini-Model Build, Turkey Dinner (w/all the trimmings )I missed this build due to work and voting (it was on Election Day)so I couldn't make it in time but was lucky enough to have a friend get me the model so we didn't miss out. I heard the usual 150+ kids made it. A very nice looking model(check it out on the pics below) but the only thing I heard was that the Turkey itself was partially built so the kid's didn't get the full experience of building it. They wanted to move the line faster I guess. - Free Court Jester set(7953)with $35.00 purchase. - Free Pick A Brick Box (beautifully painted Xmas graphics all around) with a $75.00 purchase. It's roughly the size of a small PAB Cup. You can't fill it till after Xmas. Between December 26th and March 31st 2011. But I did see people already filling it up so it's not a hard, fast rule. - Kingdom's King's Castle kit purchase got you an extra 50 VIP Points. - Black Friday Sale! Upon bringing your items to the counter you get a scratch card with either 10%, 20% or the lucky 50% off your entire purchase. I heard only two 50% scratchers were available at each store. Alas, I got only a 10% one, but hey, it helped with the tax, plus cashed in some VIP Points so all my items came in at roughly 50% off. And yes, I was one of the nuts waiting for the store to open at Midnight! Overall there were some nice 20% to 30% off kits around the store and damaged box sales too! - LEGO Universe Rocket Ship was for sale as well(pricey at $9.99). You don't have to pick up the game to get it. Note, the game is already 50% off now (wait long enough and I suspect it'll be free eventually). - December MMMB build...a lovely little Christmas Tree in the snow with presents. This looked like a 200+ turnout. And (just like in November), the build had the tree and presents already built so the kids decorated it, added the star and put it on the base. It's great to give out these models but my son, plus many others, were disappointed that they couldn't build the whole thing. It's too simple for what was left to build and took some of the fun out of the challenge. - 50% off Lego Robo Champ Game when you purchase any 2 games. - Free NinjaGO stickers were given out! See pic below. - Get an extra 50 VIP Points when you purchase the Imperial Flagship. - And again this month, with $75.00 purchase you get a Pick A Brick Box. Comes in a nice envelope too. Finally, of note, my store has started a LUG Showcase in which local LUG members can display their MOC's every couple months or so to promote their own LUG's as well as their talents. Was proud to see good friend 'noteenoughbricks' display his 'Fireplace at Christmas' MOC. It's in their LUG Showcase all this month! Way to go Brian! I hope to be collaborating with him on the next one. MERRY XMAS TO ALL...Have a happy and healthy holiday! Peace...
  3. Beautiful Slave I!!! A masterpiece. I especially love all the intense greebling on the underbelly of the ship. The size is perfect and the stickered specs are great. Where did you get the sticker made? Is that something you also designed yourself?
  4. Ahhh...having the 'artist' fig. just warms the heart... Love the brush and palette. Nice details of some paint spattered on his clothing. The Gnome is meh/weak for me but I guess if you armored him up, he can compliment and add to the Dwarf Castle sets. ...me love the Geisha ...the Viking (maybe they'll bring back this series...love it) ...the Mad Scientist ...HazMat Suit Guy (is he a duel sided face?) ...the Muskateer (Brickarms has a nice chrome foil to substitue for this one) ...the Punk Rocker (love the Mohawk and kind of a GunsNRoses t-shirt he's got, plus the flying V guitar...is this the first Lego official guitar?) ...and of course Frankenstein (wish they found a way to put some bolts on his head piece and keep the stitching instead of the band-aides). Although I love Universal Monsters, the Wolfman looks like a 'dog boy' and the Hockey Player doesn't look like a Hockey player. Helmet and shoulder pads look too much like a Football (American) Player. Hockey stick is off too. I'm really diggin' this series over Series 3...but it's great to have all these new figs. from all the series for Moc's! LOVE IT! Lego keep 'em coming!
  5. Good set for $5 bucks. Great for stocking stuffer and the Scarab creature is cool. Thx of the great pics in this review.
  6. These new Pharoah sets are fillin' my Indy fix. I like this set. It's about $5.00 or so too high but not terrible. Would've like the plane a little larger but the dark red color and curved wings do it for me...plus I love those new Flying Mummy's. That 'Spirit of Luis'(Spirit of St. Lous) thing I'm guessing is just a little humor thrown into the set. And the "SMH"...is that 'shaking my head'...? I think the pilot from Series III mini-figs would fit in nicely with the Pharoah Quest world. Jake Raines daddy?
  7. I was thinking more of an entire line based off of McQuarrie's work rather than just a freebie white Boba Fett.
  8. I feel a way to make it fresh for OT fans like me is to look at the original designs and sketches of Ralph McQuarrie. I'd love to see a new packaging and parts with the feel, design and color schemes Ralph used in his original concept art.
  9. Great pics and a thorough review! Love the snake(I might be the only one) and the parts. Look forward to this whole line to Moc and Mod.
  10. Love the figs! And thx for the review. But I missed somethin' (I'm slow). What is the play feature? Like the staff is pushed/flung off?...meaning the Mummy Guardians can telekinetically fling it away from the hero?
  11. Just a fantastic original rendition. I love the LEGO version and it's my favorite Star Wars model. It has the right shape and is extremely sturdy for play, but this one has it's own character(alot of character!!!). Like a signature of your work all over it rather than a redo of a Star Wars vehicle. Even though we know what it is, it's has a uniqueness all it's own that I love . Beautiful version. Instructions?(couldn't hurt to ask... )
  12. Gonna' look into this. I'll give it a shot.
  13. The poster art and torso graphics are excellent. Make Mine Marvel Mini-Figs!!!
  14. I'm definitely getting most of this line. LOVE the scarab shields, the wings on the mummy warriors, the temple...I'm diggin' this whole line. Gonna' incorporate and expand to MOC some new Indiana Jones adventure playsets with these kits. Love 'em!
  15. LOL...yes we need an adult diaper for our older and truck drivin' City and Town folk... It was the only way I could describe those...hmmm...let me see...g-string ceremonial briefs, loose loin cloth they wear... OK...that's not working either. Got it...lego should make a Mawashi or a Kesho-mawashi piece? How's that...
  16. Definitely want to pick up... - Samurai(wish they'd make the blade on the sword silver) - Elf - Space Villain (be good to make an army from these guys) - the Mummy - the Baseball Player (although I wish they scuplted a small glove piece to snap onto it's hand somehow). - the Pilot (has that old Adventurer feel and I love the bomber jacket torso. Can't make out if he has a backpack? Or new open backpack piece?). Disappointed in... - the Space Alien (I was really looking forward to an original head sculpt. Something new all around actually, but it's just a repaint of Squidman from Space Police. Do like the ray-gun piece though. Can't have enough of those). - Sumo (I like the new hair piece but if they couldn't make a thick torso at least make a new 'diaper' piece like they wear to snap between the legs and torso. A thick, cloth sculpt in white). Also wish they put in a bottle of milk and trophy with the Race Car Driver, some feather pieces to clip onto the spear of the Native American Chief, a torso and head piece to snap onto the Gorilla like they have with Chewbacca and maybe I'm wrong but do Hawaiin Hula Dancers use maraccas? No bar codes but it'll make it fun for me and kid to see what surprise we get! Maybe it might be good to go in with some friends to split a sealed box 3 ways.
  17. Thx Fuzzylegobricks! Yeah, I was thinking of the recent Space Shuttle I picked up in July for my son. We'd put it together and Moc a crawler for it and he can research the history of the shuttle since the final launch is soon an this can be his year end Science report. Now with these newer NASA sets...it's be great to include some educational booklets with it. I'm hopin'...;)
  18. Wow...this is fantastic. NASA and LEGO. Amazing. Def. want to pick up these sets! Kid's can really up their grades building and doing reports on this. I wonder if the sets will come with booklets to show details and history of each model.
  19. Yeah, I thought they had a LEGOLAND with a store. But another poster above said "...about time that the country Lego comes from gets a Lego store..." So I was like, huh? Didn't they have one already. But maybe he's sayin' it's not at a LegoLand but it's own proper store front. Wonder if they'll have exclusives only to that shop.
  20. Ahhh.....you're both right above. I double checked my recent receipts. When I looked it up on the LEGO site it just shows the rounded down points from my purchases.
  21. Wow...I never knew that. Denmark NEVER had a LEGO store? Is that right...it's so odd.
  22. I checked my history recently and I had a -100 around the time I first signed up (June). But I never 'cashed' that in. I'll email customer service to see what's up there. They do shortchange you the VIP points I noticed. Like a $99.99 item you get 99 points instead of 100. They don't add the .99cents into your next purchase total.
  23. ***NEW*** OCTOBER UPDATES for the LEGO Store, Queens Center Mall. Busy, fun and exciting month at the Queens Center Mall LEGO Store this past October. Here's the link. It's the last 48 pictures that are NEW for October. OCTOBER LEGO Store Updates/Events/Activities Lot's of activity....so much that went on, I'll break it down... - October Monthly Mini-Model Build (Frank, Frankenstein's Monster) in which (once again)over 150 kids attended! This was an especially fun event. Had a convention like feel. Besides the fun of watching and helping my kid with his Mini-Model, it was a chance to hang out for a bit with LongIslandLUG President and good friend Brian (notenoughbricks)and his lovely wife Hope, fellow LILUG member and great mini-fig. customizer Vic (eclipseGrafx)who brought down some of his custom figures and proto-types too. Great looking figs! And also got to meet (along with my son who loves his Space Police work)and chat with David Pagano (of course of Paganomation!)Very nice and humble guy and was nice enough to accept one of my sketchbooks. With such a large crowd there is was a great day! - LEGO Universe launch event (didn't purchase the game so missed out on the exclusive mini-fig and 'rocket-ship' they gave out if you purchased that day). Still want to see if it's worth it in the long run for my kid. - October LEGO Club Meeting...Star Wars theme in which the kids MOC'd their own Star Wars Bounty Hunter vehicle, got free an exclusive Star Wars t-shirt with a Wampa 'Have you Seen Me' graphic on the front, grab bag (about the equivalent of a small PAB Cup), standard LEGO Club Max sticker and a $5.00 off LEGO coupon ($35.00 minimum purchase to use coupon). - Free Star Wars Key Chain with $35.00 purchase. Your choice off the wall. - MiniFigure Speed Building Event. Winner takes home all 3 figures he or she builds the fastest amongst the other kids. Though every kid that participates gets a free mini-fig. We lost, but it was still fun and got a free mini-fig. out of it - Free LEGO Universe stickers given out on Halloween along with some candy treats for the kiddies. Missed out on the sticker but still got the treats! They ran out so fast yesterday. - VIP double points month! Good month to have racked up the points even though I missed out big time on one particular purchase when I bought the Motorized AT-AT in September when they offered 25 extra VIP points. If I'd known I would've waited and gotten 258 points outta' that ... - Great to see Hogswarts Castle displayed nicely. A great looking and high on playability set. Plus the London Tower Bridge is quite impressive seeing it up close. Also picked up some of the Halloween themed mini-models. Good little sets for the young ones and are great for Halloween treats. Check out the pics if/when you can on my Flickr stream. My link Or check out some pics below... Another fun-filled month!
  24. 1...Indiana Jones (the traps on various sets especially Temple Escape and Crystal Skull temple really grab me and are a helluva' lotta' fun. Plus I'm a huge fan of the films). 2...Star Wars (love just about all the vehicles..few exceptions...plus the X-Wing Fighter and Imperial Star Destroyer are tops in my book. Death Star quite possibly the best playset ever). 3...Agents (the villain mini-figs are well designed and fun...all the vehicles, especially the Agent's Helicopter, are high on playability plus Dr. Inferno's Robot is just incredible). 4...Space Police (love the whole villains line on this...mini-figs especially) 5...Collectable Mini-Figs (just for their fun designs and great to make little vigs. for them).
  25. I agree. Double sided plates of various sizes. I believe Megablocks has a double sided 2x2 plate. Also a large baseplate that is the normal plate thickness. Not a thin baseplate that you can't attach anything underneath it. A circular large baseplate could be fun too.
