  1. I'd love GITD pieces too. They're really underused in constraction. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll get a set with a decent amount. The most we've ever had was nocturne, and his glowy bits were inside trans blue plastic. I believe the green skull spiders were meant to be GITD originally, but this was change for price reasons. If Lego doesn't want to put one GITD piece every few sets, then the chances of multiple pieces in one set is low. That said, they've done it fro system themes, so I really hope it carries over to Bionicle at some point.
  2. As far as Bionicle goes: -I'm hoping for a seventh toa wielding the mask of time. Those easter eggs have to be going somewhere. -Also, hopefully a larger summer wave that this year's. I would quite like some more elements to feature, giving us some recolours. Orange, Purple, and Teal tribes anyone? -Also: NO MORE SIMPLIFIED NAMES! Why was Ekimu vs Kulta so much worse that mask maker vs skull grinder in their minds? I didn't get put off or confused by sets as a child because they had the word Ehlek or Antroz on them. -An actual large Titan. Kulta isn't even close to big enough to be the main villain of the year. -Keep the current method of mask attachment. One of the biggest issues with old bio is that they changed how the heads attached every couple of years. And then they changed it again when they made G2. The current system is far from my favourite, but I hope they stick with it, just because I'm tired of it changing.
  3. Wow, they could not have made tat commercial sound more generic if they'd tried xD. "defeat evil, get the masks, and save the world". Also, the narrator sounded like he really didn't care. Oh, and they included the toas' boxes at the end, as if to cover up the fact that this wave is disappointingly small. Wonder if this means the toa are still being produced, and will be on shelves throughout the year, as opposed to being phased out like a traditional winter wave? Interesting tidbit about grinder animating the others with the MoCr though. But then... who animated him? o_0
  4. I'd like to see all the other Rahkshi staffs come back. The Guurahk staff isn't remotely the most interesting of them. Also, the Inika feet. they worked just fine for the fire villains, and any excuse to move away from the daft 2.0 feet is a plus.
  5. It's also just a bit of a boring foot. You can fill in the gap to stop it looking like a clown shoe, but it still looks like a generic humanoid foot. I personally preferred the 2 Inika feet. This is just an example of the change in aesthetic as a whoIe. prefer then Bionicle, even toa, looks sort of bestial and menacing. The current toa, as good as they are, took a tad too 'heroic' for my taste.
  6. Jungle is great IMO. He's basically the perfect protector at the design level. All limbs articulated, cool weapon, back armour. Literally my ONLY gripe with him is his busy colour scheme. Stone is good too, but his lack of back armour, and awkward upper leg armour placement (which actually prevents him from standing up straight) put him below Jungle for me. But yeah, I agree that Ice is great.
  7. Just got the rest of the sets. The toa are amazing. They all have a distinct physique which matches their character, they all pose super well (with the exception of Lewa's head), and the new masks look really cool (except perhaps lewa and onua). The protectors are also very solid for small sets, though the cutting corners on the arms is annoying in some of them.
  8. I ended up with 2 lewa phantoka and 2 krika mistika due to gifts. Maybe also 2 strakk, I forget. I'm considering getting more Pohatu's or PoSs just so I can have enough brown to moc something of meaningful size with it.
  9. My god that dialogue I bad. "I can even hear voices from far away!" XD Still, I did like the "no you fool!" bit. It's like even the protector knows his toa is an idiot.
  10. I agree. I always valued poseability, even as a child. That was probably part of the reason I always hated the dolls/MLP toys my sister always used to have. they were just solid lumps. Even other boys' toys often didn't do it for me. Bionicle was decidedly my favourite, largely due to how poseable they were (and the fact that you could take them apart, of course).
  11. Outstanding! Nivawk looks so much like his movie form. And the fact that you retained a function too? brilliant.
  12. Very cool. It's super original, but sill stays true to the way he was described in the serials. Also, am I the only one getting Sauron vibes from this guy?
  13. I'm pretty sure almost every post in this thread comes with an unspoken "in my opinion" at the start. I don't think anyone was criticizing these sets of breaking the rules of a theory none of the rest of us had even mentioned. And, to he honest, it's down to personal taste. To me, the green and orange on slicer looks ugly, particularly since they aren't in even amounts. Also, the thin upper leg trop works TO AN EXTENT. But these guys don't look like they have proportions like that. The change is so sudden that it's jarring, making them look unfinished as opposed to skeletal. (again, read: my opinion).
  14. wow, I had forgotten just how bad the posing at new York could be. XD Nothing all that new, but ekimu's mask looks a lot better under this light.
  15. Oh, the story was terrible, I'm talking about the sets.
  16. Brain attack was quite a let down, but I feel it picked back up during invasion from below. Certainly a lot of creativity on show, whatever your actual opinions of the sets. I personally still believe that breakout was Hero factory's best line. All the heroes were there (seriously, why did they never repeat this? I got sick of some of the alpha team inexplicably vanishing) and they all had their own physiques and builds. So, basically the same strengths that the winter 2015 Bionicle wave has.
  17. very cool (no pun intended). Love the ribcage design, and the colour scheme. manages to look skeletal without looking "bare bones", unlike the actual summer Bionicle sets. My one complaint is that it looks a bit busy. I know that's a vague criticism, but maybe try and use multiple of the same piece for the wings instead of different kinds, and make them and the weapons a little smaller.
  18. So Pohatu and Tahu came today. They're really nice and consistent looking, and I'm loving the dual functionality. However, dear god those masks aren't half loose. I can barely move the head without them pulling off, without the aid of the brainstalk. Also, tahu is TINY for a titan. He's about a head shorter than furno XL. Loving my trans orange hau too, though it is a bit funny to see the part number showing through XD.
  19. To be honest, while Teridax sound's more interesting in the proposed scenario, I'm still glad they didn't do that, since it would have affectively ended the story in 2003, before I even really knew Bionicle existed. I prefer another 6 years of story to one good revelation any day.
  20. So, on a less philosophical note, I just ordered Tahu and Pohatu, along with the hero pack, so they'll show up at some stage soonish
  21. I've never understood how people could suggest that the very existence of sex in a universe makes it unsuitable for kids. You don't actually have to show it happening. -_- You know where else people reproduce biologically? Almost every other franchise, and also the real world. But do those go out of their way to explain that to kids? no. All kids would get is "they have a mum and dad, like me". So before you suggest something like "biological reproduction? they would never do that!", bear in mind that that is how the characters reproduce in almost every non-constraction line Lego has ever made, but they just don't feel the need to talk about it.
  22. I wasn't really around for the story in 2001, so I just assumed that add of the toa assembling themselves was non canon, and was very surprised to find it actually happened. I also wasn't aware that the Matoran upgrades of 03 were done using pieces of destroyed bohrok (which is kinda dark given what we now know about bohrok). It's just a bit weird to me that they're actually able to come apart in universe. I always assumed the whole construction aspect was just for the toys. The idea that these people can dismantle themselves is very strange to me. How is it possible to even kill one? Could a Matoran just walk down the street, pass a severed head, and be like "hey Ohpu" and the head's just like "oh hey Teihri, 'sup dude?" And if there was just a machine that made Matoran, how had the Turaga not figured out that they were inside a giant robot? "hey Turaga Vakama, where do the Matoran in that machine come from?" "DON'T QUESTION THE GREAT SPIRIT!!"
  23. I'm fine with a machine making them I guess, but I don't like that it's the Turaga operating it. I had always assumed the great spirit robot did it automatically, so the Matoran assumed Mata nui was willing more into existence, hence the worship of him. Having them just be created by Vakama and co whenever a job vacancy opens up is a little mundane and detached for creatures who are, despite their origin, living beings. I do like that the Okotoverse implies (happy now, lewi?) a more normal way of life, not slaving away to maintain a giant robot, not being willed into existence by the village elders. It just never seemed right that way to me.
  24. To be honest, despite the villains being bone themed, I highly expect they're going to dance around anything actually to do with death. At most, we might see the villains climbing out of some sort of crypt. I imagine the toa will hit them and they'll fall apart comically into piles of bones. I could be totally wrong about all of this, but I think assuming a dark tone simply from skeletal sets is a bit far.
  25. could someone clarify a couple of things that I couldn't work out about the promotion? Is it only in physical lego stores, or can it be done on shop@home as well? Is it with any purchase, or does it have to be Bionicle that you're buying?
