  1. Either that or they're just animated piles of bone that don't represent specific entities at all. Interesting to see if we ever find out. Either way, I don't normally like to let storyline stuff excuse aesthetically poor looking set design. Witch doctor pulled off the skeleton look pretty well with only a mask and some tubing, so the idea that you have to make them skinny and gappy to make accurate skeletons doesn't hold water for me.
  2. I do not believe for a second that that was a deliberate, aesthetic choice. The gappy torso syndrome has happened plenty of times before, and will happen again, as part of lego's ongoing mission to use as few pieces as possible. Ekimu has a gappy torso too, and he isn't a skeleton. Nor are the toa, some of whom also share this problem. On a more positive note, I love that the new skull masks look like modified skull spider ones. They all share the Klingon forehead ridge thingies, amongst other aesthetics. makes me wish they all had the connection points the first mask does, so they could be used as different breeds of skull spider.
  3. don't worry, no one else did either
  4. Oh, so slicer actually DOES have gears for all four arms. Nice. Also silver torsos confirmed 100% Makes them seem more biomechanical, so, as much as I would love some white bone pieces, I think the silver works. EDIT: not only do basher and scorpio share a mask, but warrior and grinder do too. -_-
  5. Slicer is just disappointing in general. Almost no armour, reused mask ( *drinks Mezonak's tears* ), only 2 arms are geared. and yet all those trans green pieces make me know that I'll get him anyway -_- Hunter is probably the one that best pulls off the new bone pieces, as they actually LOOK like bones on him. They're placed in the right places that it actually looks like he's rotting, whereas the other villains all just look unfinished. Also, his bow is cool. Basher seems cool enough, interested in seeing what his function will be Scorpio looks cool, save the tail (but then, I'm on of the people who liked him from the start). Pleasantly surprised at the legs. I thought they would look way too small, but they seem fine. A bit disappointed that he shares a mask with basher though, then it looks so much like a sheep skull. At least give him something with more eyes. Also devastated at the lack of tan. Grinder looks a bit gappy and unfinished, and seem to have a weirdly constructed torso, but I imagine that last point is to give him a more powerful gear function. Ekimu looks a bit chubby, but very cool. Hope we get Tahu and Gali's melded masks somehow too. A bit of a shame this line seems to sheep mask wise, when the winter wave had so many. ( I know we're still getting the melded ones, but 2 of the villains share a mask, and another reuses the skull spider face) It's the fire villains all over again. Overall though, These look pretty good. It will be interesting if the new bone piece gets reused after this wave though. I distinctly hope it doesn't. While this is excusable on skeleton sets, anywhere else it would just look cheap, and it even does so on some of these guys.
  6. A silver torso? neat. They also got the whole 'sheep skull vibe' down perfectly. Horns still look ridiculous though. Ekimu's colours look very odd in this pic, but I imagine it's just the lighting.
  7. IT ISN'T AN AUSTRALIAN ACCENT!!! also damn, you beat me to it XD
  8. They were grey. It looked right for the gears to be that colour, cos it could vaguely be believed as metal, and it didn't clash with anything. They also didn't have random grey down one arm to show that it could swing, like these new toa have on their weapons, to show that they come apart.
  9. What bothers me more than the multiple bone colours is Lego's current thing of colouring everything to do with a function yellow. People can tell that something is supposed to move without warning tape being stuck on it. Now the toa all have big blocks of yellow on their backs and weapons. Why? they never used to do this, and I strongly doubt the human race has become worse at building Lego since 15 years ago.
  10. basically all the stuff Vorahk said. HF's (supposed) number advantage, if it even exists, is meaningless, as I doubt the majority of heroes could even successfully harm a toa. And if even a single toa of iron were present, the toa would pretty much win there and then.
  11. Can't really comment that well until there are close ups, so I'll just say this. I really hope blended versions of Tahu and Gali's masks become available at some point as well. I thought this wave was unusually small, and was fine with that, but if it's been actually cut down, resulting in the loss of 2 sets, and the masks they would have come with, that would be a real shame.
  12. Not sure why you guys are shipping those two based on one picture..... when Tahu x Kopaka was the much more obvious pairing from the video :P
  13. Pohatu's "we have company" followed by LoSS appearing from the side of the cliff was awesome. And it seems Kopaka and Tahu )or indeed, Kopaka and everyone else) still have their rivalry, with the two even physically fighting this time. I wasn't following back in 2001, did it ever come to that in the original story? Great to finally see a couple of episodes of entirely inter-character dialogue, after the surplus of narration. Can't wait till the English version gets here. I want to see Pohatu in all his London geezer glory XD.
  14. It works in animation, but I personally think it looks bad in actual Lego form. The animations pull it off alright (as do, to a certain extent, the set forms of the protectors). But I think these skull villains just cut off to quickly, and just look incomplete.
  15. Now they (I) will just scream at you to switch to the other type of bone, and THEN put armour on it :P. It still seems strange to me that lego would make a piece for that reason, when they've left armour off hf sets before, and had no qualms about leaving the ball joints exposed. Why the change of heart now?
  16. Not to mention that it's floating right about the "forge" thing from grinder's box art.
  17. does someone who carries a flamethrower automatically have resistance to flames? I don't think the heroes have ever been shown to be resistant to their element (later heroes like evo and new didn't even have one) If Furno had been resistant to fire, he wouldn't have needed the 2.0 upgrade just to beat the fire villains IMO.
  18. Thing is, toa, unlike heroes, can't be harmed by their respective elements, due to their ability to control or destroy it. So with those match ups, only the heroes would actually get hurt by anything :P
  19. The MoUP isn't just silhouetted, it's giving off black and red flames. It also changed makuta's body black and red when he put it on. It's safe to assume it will be one of those two colours, and black seems more likely. Anyway, we probably won't know until 2017.
  20. Pretty sure that's the new "torn cloth-like" armour add-on.
  21. well, the original toa prototypes had the ignika on the box, even though they would already have had a model of the mocr, since all the toa's pieces were complete already. it's safe to assume the mocr was as well.
  22. Story wise it could make sense, but I don't foresee Lego re-using the same collectibles. What would be the point of including them if they're not special new masks anymore?
  23. Yeah, remember the reaction to the first reveal of HF 2.0? My god. "this is the end of lego!" "Why is stringer evil!" Nowadays, you can be chastised for suggesting that ccbs is anything other than a gift from heaven XD
  24. And if they want to complain about how they aren't articulated, they have lost all rights to nostalgia-gasm over the nui-jaga
  25. I was addressing VBBN's comment about trans red, not your one about the mask. That said, I highly doubt the mask of creation is a placeholder. The mask from the advert looks like it belongs to skull grinder to me.
