pohatu's piece count seems suspiciously low.... Look at what they did to all the other masks. There's no way the Ignika would remain unchanged. The thing's had 3 different designs already.

oh god, I remember that narrator from the 2008 retrospective XD. In fairness, that's how I pronounced Lewa's name as a child.

I also just noticed that onua has 2 lightsaber sized connection points on his crotch, so he's not using torso underarmour at all, just a flipped shell. I know, I mentioned Kopaka a couple of pages back. Also, there seems to be a meaningful difference in the builds and proportions anyway, as all the toa are of different heights and girths.

Sorry, was hard to tell. On closer inspection, Pohatu has a brain attack torso too. Nice to see some variation.

Another possibility is that lego stopped being cheap with the vents, but it would be amazing of your idea turns out to be true. Not just gears, but ratchet joints too! Since the pieces have connectors at the ends too, you could even turn his weapons into improvised limbs on a robot moc. (idea patented!)

From looking at fire protector though, it seems that it may have a good deal more facial detail.

well there's no need to be rude. Yeah, the printing on LoSS (SK, what do we call him now?) IS a bit off-putting.

they're a nice thing to have. I always mod or tear apart new sets very quickly anyway, so I don't mind. Unfortunately CCBS isn't built to accommodate them, so we always end up with technic backpacks, rather than the more integrated functions of the old Bionicle. Mezonak's wording in the news video makes me believe they're recording it as we speak. XD

maybe pohatu's joined the borg? Now that you mention it Grima, that arm is definitely connected to the technic stuff on the back, rather than to the torso. Gear functions confirmed then... blimey... Unfortunately, it does leave him with an ugly exposed ball joint. I hope the gimmick looks better than it did on Bruiser. eurgh....

having taken another look at Fire protector, that is definitely not a brain attack head under there... Speaking of brain attack, Kopaka uses that torso armour for some reason. He makes it work.

but what would the functions be? The limbs are clearly free moving CCBS pieces only attached by a ball joint..... This. Which is why the Ignika will almost certainly be replaced by the king Vultraz/breez mask

I'm still none the wiser as to the heads. Air defender's looks like a solid blue one, but all the other defenders' look to have grey ones, but coloured eyes. Other than that, immensely impressed with these. Hope skull Kraata keeps his technic legs, I missed out on the 2001 rahi. I think the packaging may just be a blocky cgi of the HF bags. But does Pohatu have one fewer piece than his protector? That can't be right. And skull Kraata has more pieces than the titans. What is going on here? oh, and onua seems to have gears on his back, but his limbs are clearly normal CCBS limbs. my head hurts

Ok, more detailed thoughts: Tahu: looking really cool, like how much he uses the new armour piece. Squared Hau is a bit odd. Also, I can see he has some sort of chunky technic backpack. Cheap way to drive up the price, Lego. Kopaka: Looks to be the biggest. Cool Mask. Brain attack chestplate (prelim?), rahkshi staff piece (prelim?). Proper titan looking Body. Glorious shield piece (see also Tahu). Onua: Looks big, as he should, PURPLE!, gold and silver together why?!, mask looks like takutanuva exclusive Krakaan. Gali: Decent, not all trans unfortunately, mask looks a bit evil, hope all that yellow disappears from the weapons, Trans Blue bones. Pohatu: Mask cool and recognisable, BROWN!, unfortunately no tan (silver instead, did we learn nothing from 2008?), TRANS YELLOW!, something going on inside the torso I can't make out. Rahkshi staff sticking out of his back? huh? Lewa: Long legs, weird as hell mask, nice axe pieces, shoulderpads?, Keetorange? Defenders: Not clone sets, cool, at least one has a 2 toned mask, recolours of pyrox flame, skull spiders look freaky. LoSS: (err, skull Kraata, what? it doesn't even look like a slug!) cool printing, legs made of glatorian necks (prelim?), much trans orange

weird thing is, these actually look more fake than the first pics. I know that's because they're thrown together to show to officials, but still, can that Ignika be a placeholder? More in depth thoughts once I've had a good look.

can we not have them be really big though? I can't build big atm, most of my parts are still covered in ash (long story). As for the idea that Gali might be azure... I'm not sure how I feel about that. Its not really a blue so much as a green in my eyes. I'd use it on toa of plantlife, maybe even air, but not water.

I didn't mean evil. I mean like, antagonistic to the toa mata. Another group also trying to get the masks. (I'm still hoping that's what the defenders turn out to be).

now THAT's what they should do with the other elements. Have the summer wave be an antagonistic toa team with sonics/iron/plantlife/psionics/gravity/plasma also seeking the masks.

you know what's great about all these gold masks? I can finally moc a toa of psionics without having to give it an olmak or ignika. As for Gali's weapon,I can't make out what that's supposed to be. Perhaps a trident. Also, the Blue on her looks very light. Could she be using entirely the trans blue from stormer and frost beast?

Impossible to say what is likely. I certainly hope this is the case though. I abhor reboots when a continuation is still possible.

Part of me kinda hopes that the defenders actually all have the same mask, just so we could have a mask in a wide range of colours again, to help make the masks feel less character specific, (not that I have the problem where I can only ever see one character if I use a certain mask, I just really like recolours).

I'm pretty sure the armour is part of them, mechanical implants and such, I think there is no "under the armour". Regardless, I liked the 2-part metru head because it gave toa more defined eyes, as opposed to the larger, "cuter" eyes of the 08 Matoran, who had a solid head. I didn't feel the grey head threw off the colour scheme any more than the red/blue pins did. (another thing people seem to care about a lot more than I do).

Really? because it just looked like a 2.0 hero foot to me... Since Kopaka is second in command, and I think Gali is third, that's unlikely. Thinking about it, why did they make Lewa the core of a Kaita anyway?

constraction figures have this number of sets per wave all the time. In fact, I think every Lego line works on this 2 wave basis, so I wouldn't worry.
