  1. Dang jasonified, that was quick. Sean bean is best Toa.
  2. Meh, I always thought of Kopaka as super stealthy, so I'd prefer if he looked slender. The idea of him wearing a bulky fir coat if daft to me. (though I eagerly await the day when people photoshop him into the "winter is coming" meme). He control's ice, he doesn't need warm or bulky armour in the snow. The set is largely solid, but just not how I saw the character.
  3. I don't know how much can be inferred from that. Was keetongu a robot in the old story? I remember him having a rhotuka launcher in his torso so I'm just wondering. If not, then this could easily not mean anything.
  4. I don't know what is giving you that impression. They certainly seem more individual than the bohrok or the vahki, who were just recoloured clone sets. All the protectors at least have their own stature. And, as people love to keep reminding me, their heads have masks over their faces. Back in the day, tonnes of Matoran used the same mask. Not to mention all the agori clones in TLR (likely cost saving, but still).
  5. I don't know how you could give a lightsaber pin-sized joint enough friction to allow for that.
  6. I like how all the masters are slowly becoming Tasters XD. I now have a strange urge to stick googly eyes on the toa once I get them.
  7. That second pic may give me nightmares.....
  8. Honestly I'm at the point of slamming my face into the desk from the amount of people who call them "HF with Bionicle masks slapped on" just because they use the ccbs build. -_- Then I guess the chima figure were just HF with animal heads slapped on? No. That was savage planet :P I personally find these spiders mpre interesting that, say, the Invasion from below jumpers. These spiders are skull, and potentially even masks, too. On another note, I noticed from the recent scan that the combiners seem to wear the gold versions of the masks. Could these fusions with the protectors actually be in the story, achieved once the toa get the masks?
  9. I'd hoped you'd do this. it's every bit as glorious as I had dreamed. XD
  10. Kopaka's blades don't have any holes pointing in the right direction to allow them to be used as skates, due to the 2.0 foot not having the slot in it that the mata foot did. They could potentially be skis thought, I guess, and he has a spear which could double as the stick skiers use that I've forgotten the name of.
  11. well you'll be pleased to know that the last few pages were dominated by an overly heated argument, so you can skip them at least.
  12. oh god, I remember treasure planet. Nice moc!
  13. oh god I would love glow in the dark so much. otherwise it seems strange that they would include another type of green out of nowhere. Glow white also looks a perfect bone colour when in daylight, ideal for a piece that loos like a skull.
  14. and on top of that, said giant spider has a skull face on its' back, looking up at you. Not even a toa wouldn't be freaked out by what. On a related note, can anyone tell what type of green the green skull spiders use? it looks paler than the lime we're used to.
  15. Or they could solve the upgrade problem entirely by giving us new toa teams? (a guy can dream). Never the less, blended masks would be cool, but maybe blended with an element specific second colour instead of silver. Trans masks would also be cool.
  16. I wouldn't necessarily call them more experienced-looking. They're larger, and I guess the term "master" implies having total control over their element, but I don't know how one can discern experience from characters that don't have facial expressions and don't age. I agree that they are far larger than the skull spiders, but that didn't help them in 2002 when they were kicked around by midget bohrok, and even midgitier krana.
  17. Given that the most major insect hive in old Bionicle took its orders from 2 humanoids, I think lego threw out the book on how they work a long time ago. Not that I mind this.
  18. you have a knack for asking questions no one could possible know the answer to XD. anyway, for the time being at least, it's most likely the person whose eyes we saw of the initial colour display. I could be teridax, or someone else entirely.
  19. The fact that they're masks at all means they'll clamp to faces for one reason or another, be it to mind control or to drain life force or something. The leg attatchment areas would make it quite easy to add extra head decals though....
  20. Only if it doesn't mean the inclusion of gratuitous silver in the colour schemes this time *shakes fist at mistika* Wasn't that basically the toa vs the bohrok, or the toa metru vs the vahki? Speaking of which, I forgot about the vahki until just now. Funny how our "mystical" theme had full on robot enemies as early as 2004. 1: Greg wrote the HF story. 2: Greg wasn't "kicked off" the story team because there was to team to kick him off. He simply wasn't brought back on for the new Bionicle, and, for he record, he's acting as a consultant, something lego wouldn't have done unless they planned to build off the old themes or story in some way.
  21. Do you know something we don't? Also, I've said it before an I'll say it again. There's no reason to believe they're dropping the term toa, as that term rarely appeared on the actual set canisters early in Bionicle's run. Also, I doubt lego would be daft enough to try and name a species "masters", when some toa will inevitably be young or inexperienced. (I hope to god they don't decide to stick to the mata for the whole run. Alpha team all over again). Heck, this may even be a sort of "soft reboot" not in terms of story, but in terms of terminology. Lego uses basic names to draw in a wide audience, but old fans can see the story with a greater depth. Everyone's happy. None the less, I hope for the inclusion of Bionicle-esque names, as that's mainly what separates it from HF. (and even that dabbled a bit later or, Scarox anyone?) Ironically, a more Bionicle sounding name than "lord of skull spiders".
  22. I suppose it's because I got into Bionicle in 2006, when the more techy feel had overtaken the tribal, mystic theme. The Inika canister were all barbed-wire and stuff. I didn't even really follow the story until 2008, so I only ever really saw the futuristic, sci-fi esque toa designs etc. I'm not adverse to magic as a whole (indeed, I watch a show where tiny colourful horses talk about little else), I guess it just doesn't fit with what I had experienced Bionicle as being like. This will really be my first time experiencing Bionicle the way it was back in 2001, so that should be interesting at least.
  23. The tiny optimist in me hopes that it would be more than technobabble, and actually have thought out processes and the like, but I don't know how likely that ever was... My large preference of sci-fi over fantasy probably plays a part in my opinion too (though one wonders why I was so unimpressed by Hero factory in comparison to bionicle then, even before it became apparent that the story of HF was rubbish )
  24. Functionality wise, Midak skyblasters were the best. It was pretty much impossible to fail to fire them. The Zamor launcher is a more useful piece though, I will acknowledge. and kumquat, is that a pink tridax pod?
  25. As someone who lies it when little details are explained, I sort of dislike the use of the term magic, because, by definition, it works beyond the laws of physics and is unexplained. Basically, its a get out clause for never explaining how anything works. It doesn't strike me as something lego will bother making established rules for. Unfortunately, that seems to be exactly what everyone wants, since the old story was apparently "too convoluted/confusing". I realise that just saying it's advanced technology is an equal cop-out, but at least that term holds the writer accountable to make some sort of explanation at some point. As it is, it's highly likely we will never know how the powers in this universe work, unlike in Bionicle 1, which, while welcome relief for some people, is an annoyance for me personally. You have no idea how excited I was when the "great spirit" turned out to be a robot, and the Matoran that had previously just "blinked into being when needed" were now nanobots maintaining him. The strange processes that had happened throughout early Bionicle finally made sense. Hand-waving it away as something as unexplainable as magic just makes me worry that this universe won't have as much thought put into it. Oh, and gold is a daft thing to make a mask out of. Super heavy and super soft. I hope Artakha has a robust neck.
