I doubt that's waist articulation. remember the bending limbs on Tahu mata's canister art? The feature will probably not make it to the actual set.

wait... a mask you can strap legs to and turn into a spider?! Words cannot express how much I love that XD. Also, on the close-up, I notice that Kopaka has two little holes in his forehead, that look like they can attatch lightsaber sized pins. I'm also seeing a LOT of pyrox flame recolours in the defenders. Ad yeah, I se a new torso on at least the fire defender too. Looks to be of quite a Bionicle-like aesthetic.

Yeah, loving the extra kanohi. Also, ty for the larger pic Aanchir, it seems like the lavaboard piece has the pyrox flame piece slotted inside it. I like that Kopaka repurposes it as a weapon too, it looks like the staff his Nuva form had :)

actually, looking between Kopaka and Pohatu, I think the latter might actually use tan. The two don't look the same, though the lighting makes it almost impossible to tell. Hard to make out anything about Onua too. he just looks like a solid megablocks of black. But is that some sort of hammer he's holding?

Hmm...so each small set also contains a spider.. and the leader of the spiders gets a set of his own. Interesting. Not sure how I feel about all the mata suddenly having gold in their design, and I rreeaallyy hope that's tan on Pohatu, not white, but there seems to be decent variation amongst the toa. Are Tahu and kopaka "titan" sized? One thing I love though is that they seem to come with 2 of their kanohi, one normal, one gold. Even the other sets contain some masks. Wonder if they'll have story significance....

I genuinely can't believe HF gained a similar following to Bionicle, who will now spam Lego to bring HF back if it ends. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I just never expected it to happen. On another note, I ever perceived HF's story as being any less rigid than Bionicle. Both had the promise that there were other Toa/heroes out there. But Bionicle had a wider range of backgrounds for them to came from, whereas with HF, they were always built in this one factory. Also, please don't let "keep the core alive" become thing. HF did nothing to deserve that level of emotion. Any semblance of character was relegated to the novels. Probably gonna get called Bionicle fan boy for this too -_-

It's a possibility we've considered, but the figure in the display looks very much like Tahu. There are also leaked set names that would seem to suggest we're getting the toa mata. (though these names are of course unconfirmed). No that new characters would bother me, I enjoyed the bara magna arc when it introduced entirely ne characters.

This sounds like a great idea. Not only would it fix the overly smooth aesthetic of the H pieces, but would also allow the shells to wrap all the way around the limbs, like they do in the tv shows. -
It baffles me that so many peoples' first answer to "we need more female characters" is " let's genderbend existing ones" rather than "lets make new female characters". The latter is much less daft, and would also potentially get us another Toa team. I for one, don't want it to be only the Mata for the next however many years, as was the problem with HF. Changing the gender of an existing character IS change for the sake of change, because instead of trying to create a genuinely interesting female character. you're taking a character that already has all their traits defined, and just having them be a girl for the sake of some perceived equality. Would Tahu being a girl change up the dynamic at all? No, because we already know Tahu's character. (not to mention that changing the way the character behaves simply because of them being a different gender would be quite sexist). All it would do is change the ratio, which is all some people seem to care about unfortunately.

The whole av-Matoran concept hadn't even been thought up back in 2003. It is now clear that,at least in life forms created by the great beings, aging only really occurs due to transformations. Matoran are young, Toa are adults, Turaga are old. They were created to work a giant robot, and as such have only 3 roles and nothing in between, whereas "real" creatures, like the Glatorian, age naturally.

How damn long does Vakama live?! I love the idea that the guy who was old during the first film would outlive all the mata XD.

I never liked how HF suck with the same team for the entire run. It's not like they used that time to develop their characters, as they didn't have any. preferred Bionicle's way, changing toa teams every few years. Thy were all characters that were present in the first year anyway. The HF story never felt wide enough. " oh yeah, there are hundreds of heroes, but you'll only see these 9". I was getting sick of the alpha team by the end. I don't want to get sick of the Mata too.

That's kinda the approach I take too. Whatever gender, whatever element. (I even just straight up make elements up, my self Moc is a toa of antimatter for crying out loud). I just decide how I want the character to be. I also take liberties with Mask powers. The mask the Moc wears is not necessarily the mask power they have. I just do it based on what I want their face to look like. (In my mind, the mask is their face, kinda like in the movies).

Unless you count the Queen beast. and I think that Waspix was female in the show. But this whole female issue could be solved if sets were actually made of Toa other than the core 6 elements. Plant life, Psionics, and Sound are all primarily female Toa, if I remember correctly.

Hmm, this would be good for me, as I got into Bionicle way too late to own the original Mata, but I could swear I saw a Skakdi in that original picture. Oh well, it was incredible blurry, I'm happy to be proven wrong. "Lord of Skull Spiders" however, sounds way too HF for my tastes. Was hoping for a more Rahi-like name. Also, I assume its meant to be "Fire Master Tahu" or "Tahu; master of fire" The names seem like they've been weirdly translated or something.

I would love to have CCBS shells that connected to axles! But "somewhat serious with a few jokes" is not n any way how I would describe Chima's story, at least not the one of the TV show XD. As for a Bionicle series, I would quite like it to have the sort of tone that mask of light did. it had light/comedic moments, but was overall a fairly intense story.

I didn't find Bionicle's armour too specialised. sure, you could tell what set it came from, but it didn't look out of place anywhere, unlike, say, some of Hf's stuff which has big H's printed on it. But yeah, new add-ons would probably serve just fine.

Would have been a bit of a dark note to end the story on, though. And any attempt to end it more happily would have severely rushed Teridax's role IMO. Maybe I'm just biased 'cos 2009 was probably my favourite year of Bionicle. :/

I am kinda tempted to get my ps2 out of storage to play Bionicle heroes again XD. I have the first game too, but I got it used, and it breaks halfway through Pohatu's chapter every time. :(

BZP,s only harming itself, seeing as everyone is going elsewhere to discuss the rumours it refuses to allow. Turns out there are downsides with being so cosy with the company you post news about. :/ on a lighter note, think Lego'll get Cryoshell back? They had them do a song for HF, so it seems realistic enough.

What if Von nebula just yells "make my monster grow!" and throws that staff of his into the ground, so the heroes have to fight giant versions of escaped criminals? XD In all seriousness though, I do hope that they return to Von nebula at some point. I mean, they had him escape for a reason, and breakout ended on a cliff-hanger.

Seeing as these Bionicle rumours seem very reliable atm, and HF doesn't seem to be ending either, I'd say that's very likely. The only alternative is to have the themes alternating years, which seems very unlikely. While I would probably prioritise buying the Bionicle sets over the HF ones, if this continuation means we might actually see Stringer and Nex again, I'm happy. They need their own minifigures godammit!

That math problem XD. Anyway, does the US get the same magazine as Europe? Because if so, it could just be that they didn't bother to change it. I would have though they would advertise all of them if they were actually trying to sell them in the US.

I enjoyed the vehicles too. I got the 2009 ones (excluding Skopio) for Christmas, and had immense fun having races/ robot wars-like tournaments with them. I would welcome mask packs as well, so you're not restricted to masks used by recognisable characters when making mocs.
