  1. Hehe, if weapon plastic was used for sockets, I bet you that no socket would break. They would, however, bend into uselessness after 4 uses.If you ask me, I wish the normal sockets would use the rubber system that is used on those special sockets that come with some titans. Expenses be damned. From pics it seems that Ben 10 plastic is the same as Bionicle/LEGO plastic in general, but the molds themselves are thicker. The shape also does wonders, a cylinder is more resistant than a U.
  2. /I decided I need some SW love. But money is limited so I should choose between 8086 and 8099.
  3. Not saying it doesn't look cool. I'd like that set even though I am afraid of finding out what it really feels like in plastic. I was just mentioning how eerie it was to find that TLG seems to be going through that style direction. IMHO it is much better than Bionicle because of the smoothness. Just odd that that bootleg found out earlier.
  4. hehe, I was browsing old threads and found this: Not the first time I see it, but it is the first time I see it after knowing HF. It is amazing those bootlegs managed to make their stuff look so much like HF, 5 years in advance...
  5. Not a great fan of it. I don't know but ever since 2007-ish, ball socket is a synonym of "the piece will break". Adding more things that have to be attached like that sounds like adding many more chances of breaking things altogether... Plus I think it would reduce options, starting to think the heroes look deform when not in the 'perfect' perspective.
  6. Catwoman & The Penguin are most likely. Harley would have been awesome if there was still the joker, but it wouldn't make much sense without him.
  7. 3 points to _shadow_ I have to say I think the voting method is far from optimal.
  8. There's still a time of the year in which people of Christian influence begin doing Christmas shopping and promotions start appearing. And stores begin ripping all your money off :) In mine it is around late November, but I think that for Europeans and other richer countries it starts much earlier.
  9. MB are bound to lose their marvel license once it expires. So I wouldn't worry much about it. The show is stupid. The style is weird but the characters have the same odd proportions as minifigs. The point is to have tons of marvel minifigs. Anyway, I didn't know there is a new avengers show. We don't get stuff that fast in here.-- Anyway, if only kid friendly-ness wasn't a barrier... Imagine a Starcraft 2 theme. Protoss and terran = cool ships, mech and figs. For Zerg I guess TLG would have to use stuff similar to the monsters in the vikings theme.
  10. I am sorry , but these are SP3 prototypes that never seen the light, so it is unlikely we'll be able to buy the mecha >(
  11. Galaxy patrol sounds kind of cheesy to me. I bet the reason was to bait the old space fans. We are junkies ya know. It is going to be a while before I recover from the disappointment of TLG not releasing that spider mech thing. I wonder if I can make a MoC that looks similar to it, but I'd need new pieces I think.
  12. imho making collectable minifigs stop being blind purchases would be a nice thing to vote for:)
  13. The answer is : absolutely not. Yeah, it could be a placeholder. Not like I would dislike the green squidman head anyway.
  14. Edit: Large beasts, I meant beasts. Well, I have reached a point in which I have no idea what to buy next. So let us have a discussion about what titan or big rahi are really worth having. Note that we can include combiners, HF stuff and even Ben 10 and Star Wars combiners. Anything "Large Action Figure" qualifies. From the few titans I own: Exo-toa: This thing exudes coolness in its technological look and actual play features. I think it is the last of its kind because after it things focused into poseability instead of technic stuff (for better or worse). Of course, it is almost impossible to make it stand... Axxon AND Brutaka: These guys look amazing when posing together. They contrast each other in a way that it is very hard to describe. Also, they are the first titans to use piston legs and their design overall lacks holes and they both look great from any perspective. Gold and silver madness. However, since the titan design is not all about pistons, you can feel the lack of a stronger hip design, specially with Brutaka. Also the arm shoulder connections are rather weak. Keetongu: This one shines because of how different it looks from other Bionicle stuff, plus the color scheme is quite rare as well. THE Shield! That's cool. Unfortunately this guy is in the middle road between Exo-toa and Axxon and the lack of a stronger design (specially pistons) or the replacement strong-but-unposeable pieces from exo-toa/ makuta make it very hard to pose. Tuma: Tons of time of evolution afterwards, I think this set is important because it makes a great titan template as it sure shows how the designers reached some sort of perfection. Piston legs, double hip and shoulder connection. He is very poseable AND his poses are strong. But the exterior itself could have been better. Nice wings though. I wish I would have bought two of him. I was just getting out of my dark age when I made the decision to buy him for Christmas last layer. Kardas: Laaaaaarge. Unfortunately , not a lot of fun in regards to posing (although the legs are very strong, there is a trade-off for sure. The tail is also very hard to manage). The color scheme is a little whacky but I fixed it by replacing the silver pieces with gold pieces. I LOVE THE WING DESIGN. The guy is perfect for show as just the size, the teeth and the wings would impress anyone :). I think those are the most notable titans I have personally met and seen.
  15. 3 points to Zip. -- OT:Wish it used Schulze, seriously.
  16. Oky Wan Kenobi 3 Edit: Ok, this one was difficult, but this will be final
  17. I am a tad impatient about knowing the results of the villain factory contest. When will the polls be posted?
  18. Just think of it for a second, it is a kid's show.
  19. There was another thread about these things. In which it is pointed out that if you pay attention, the pics are actually photo-shopped. The claws are probably fake pieces that are the result of some picture cropping and modification.
  20. I think LEGO is taking it seriously, they want to tackle on beyblade, bakugan, battle strikers and all that silly stuff, hence they will go overboard in promoting. It is clearly something new LEGO are trying so It may succeed or it may be yet another failure to add up to the list in which notable things like galidor and 4juniors are or it may win like Bionicle or the board games, only time will tell.
  21. I would not try actively restoring my collection. I would probably buy my favorite stuff back if given a chance to do it but I would not seek for it all around. I would instead buy new models and stuff.
  22. The truck prototype is awesome, but its amount of detail and size is at the same time what makes it cool and what would make it inviable. With Star Wars around there would have been no way for TLG to sell it at a price that would give them a profit with such amount of detail would require for that set. Yeah, it is awesome as a prototype but reality hit and they had to adapt it for a lower price. Should be cool inspiration for MoCs though.
  23. I don't know what would a 1998 set that was a promotion for Japanese candy doing in MISB condition in some Bolivian flee market, but I got it for around 2.3 USD :)
