Creating inventory - how to add new part
vexorian replied to mortenm's topic in General LEGO Discussion
What set and what system exactly? -
This is an early catalog so the design of the ninjas may still be provisional or a place holder. I just hope there is no 'card tax' that would make the sets much more expensive than they would be without that 'feature'.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
vexorian replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My brother just reminded of this: -
It's all right, seeing what you posted in the other topics I was starting to think you had eidetic memory!. The roman-like stuff sounds exciting.
-
I think TLG is doing police and fire because they are the most action-oriented parts of city without going completely out of the theme, and kids like action, unfortunately. Edit : "Space" city sets :( . The sad face is in there because that increases the chances we won't have a sci-fi space theme in 2011 :(, city space themes are not really my thing.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion

It seems the old rumor about the gorilla is right. I am already excited about the Alien, the rest not so much. Another karate guy? That sounds strange, are you sure it was not a sumo wrestler? (considering he had yellow torso and pants) -
The "About Me" page, signatures and you!

traffic. Search pages are disabled in most modern forum software by default because it is like opening the door for DoS attacks. If you want to search while not logged-in , google does much better. In fact, google generally does better than most canned forum software search features. The only exception is when you want to search stuff that is in private forums, but then again, you'll forcefully need to be logged in to see the private forums anyway... -
I don't think CN can give toy licenses from CW like that. Lucas would never give the merchandise right up like that.

I picked a bag containing complete jet slizer, krana-less green bohrok, a vahki without a weapon and a 2004 matoran in sealed box for 2.85 USD. It was at the open street in the usual resale fair that is on Sundays in El Alto. There were plenty of bags with random stuff like that, but I have already spent a lot for this month even though the first half of it has not ended yet. At first, I didn't want this bag, I thought the vahki canister and the matoran box were rubbish added to increase the volume of the bag. But I took a close look to the contents of the canister and was able to see Jet's face! Was very excited as Jet, Spark and Millenia are the only slizers I couldn't collect and at least jet's head would allow me to try mocing a new version. At home I was shocked to find that jet was complete (turns out it was in storage mode and hidden inside the canister) and that the matoran box was actually sealed... I would have paid twice as much for just the slizer. I am kinda regretting I didn't buy the other bags.

It is likely that it does not work once you confirm the vote. Even if it did, I bet the organizers would notice and not appreciate it and would delete all the votes from email addressed that worked around the limit.

It can be both a storage aid and something that calls attention, can't it? While sealed the canister could keep the 'vertical' orientation so that it is almost the same when on shelves. I do remember TLG showing that you can store the sets on their canisters for easy transportation so storage is one of the objectives, most likely the lower priority, but still.

This is something that has been bugging me since roboriders days. Even in 2010 sets, mini creator sets and small hero factory sets come in canisters / plastic packages which are supposed to aid when storing the sets. Although the canisters can store sets and also other bricks/pieces, they are not very useful during construction. Note that in the current design, the cap is used at the smaller face of the canister's prism, rather than the larger face. I would dare to say that most people find the opposite to be more useful. If you take a look at this thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26213&st=0 People that use Tupperware prefer containers in which the cap replaces the larger face of the canister. From my own experience, I think this is because besides of storing the bricks we often need some place in which bricks could be kept while we look for the correct one. When the container's height is too large, we cannot search for bricks easily, so if we used the mini creator or HF containers to store the bricks, we would have to move the bricks to another space before searching for a brick inside the containers. As of now, even though I own plenty of bionicle canisters, I do not use them for storage of pieces because the 'horizontal' design of my purchased Tupperware makes them a lot more practical during building as I don't have to throw the bricks from a container to a different flat surface when I intend to use the bricks inside the container to build. So, my entry on a wish list would be to change the orientation of the cap in these containers so that instead of throwing them I would be able to use them to actually store my pieces and save up a little on purchases of new containers. Just in case the point is not clear enough, the following picture should explain what I am suggesting:

I've been thinking, a list of clone/bootleg brands would be really useful. Specially classifying them and a link to a good review for a product of each brand. Possibly replacing the links section Like: Megabloks : Homepage : review : ... Enlighten : Filthy bootleg no linky : review etc. Today I accidentally found a new brand. Some built sets were on display on that contraband toy store, the plastic didn't seem terrible and the models didn't resemble any sets I could remember. But I have very vague recollections of the name, spent a couple of hours surfing trying to get a brand list that would remind me of the name but such a list is very hard to find. Anyway, such list would help eurobrickers avoid purchasing the very bad bootleg brands.

Hmnn, I live in Bolivia so I am paypal and credit card impaired. But wouldn't the shipping fee be able to increase the price a lot on something as big?
-
Hmnn, this is the sort of thing that makes me wish that methods like Schulze's would be more popular. In the current format, if for some reason the 10 pieces I pick are not very popular, my vote would go to waste. Say that maybe besides the 10 recolors I would most like, I'd also prefer option X more than Y and X and Y turn to be in the top places overall, that preference would be ignored. I voted for many transparent pieces. Specially the trans yellow wedges and wings, pretty cool ideas.

Does it sound reasonable to get NXT 2.0 for 442 USD? That's the least expensive price in town. I can afford it. But that's money I wouldn't be able to use on other sets which are not as inflated as that set (ie : Galactic enforcer is at about 114 USD, which in comparison to its US retail price is not that big of a difference, while NXT 2.0's US price is 280 USD.

It depends on the MoC. If you are going with micro/mini scale, you will need tons of variety. If you are going with large MoCs, it is basic bricks and plates all the way, but you'll also need many things like slopes and cheese slopes. And of course, space ships will probably require other things than boats. Anyway, if you have about 4 or 5 LEGO sets then you should already be able to do some MoCing, but of course, if you are planning to MoC something specific then you might need to go to bricklink.

Which are better, light flesh minifigs, or yellow ones?
vexorian replied to Sirius Black's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yellow all the way. Must think of someway to get rid of the single peach face I got in my Snow trooper battle pack. -
Meh, another clone trooper battle pack? I actually like clone troopers, but how many clone troopers can you own before they start getting old? Although me getting annoyed is probably the result of how much I want a storm trooper BP. I... need... storm troopers!

The 6+ is for the set itself. I doubt many <10 would even want to listen to the podcast and if they do I doubt they'll have enough attention span to get to hear the damn word. I think the TV shorts will focus the younger part of the audience. Is damned such a bad word?

Hmnn that would be mega shifters. They seem to sell well. Plus I keep getting into them when buying bulk bags of used bionicle. They are a lot more technological than bionicle's biological attempts. I think I would be interested in neo shifters if the plastic did not look that bad in my eyes. Somehow, neoshifter's plastic seems very bad to me. Albeit some mega bloks pieces I found the other day looked like the quality had improved, so maybe newer neo shifters are better. Neo-shifters are somehow different from bionicle, the ball joints are almost not compatible (mega's are smaller) so although you can attach a bionicle ball join to a mega socket, you can't do the opposite. Of course, when I refer to neo-shifter's plastic quality, it is still MUCH, much better than "invincibility robot" plus all their designs are original and not copies. Edit: Nice, coincidentally neo-shifters were renamed to neo-machines in a similar way than Bionicle got renamed to Hero Factory :) Some look a lot like bionicle but some don't and really, SEVEN pieces? I guess they are trying to compete with ben 10 : http://www.megabrands.com/Shop/MEGA_Bloks/Neo_Machines/

The discussion is not important. LEGO just won't put weapons in non-fantasy themes set in the current era regardless of what polls tell them. It is basically their vote as a company and it is unlikely to change. I think even a military theme is more likely than a city set with weapons as it wouldn't put weapons on exactly the same setting in which their target audience live.
-
I have had close encounters with this brand. It is a bootleg. The plastic quality is simply terrible and the sets are almost impossible to disassemble. Color varies extremely between two of the same sets. It is not noticeable in this set, but kanohi masks use an even worse plastic that basically looks awful, plus I remember a pohatu nuva kanohi that was completely white but the front was painted in pink. If you ever try to use invincibility robot pieces with real Bionicle pieces, they will be either too loose or too tight and you seriously risk causing damage to your legit pieces when trying to disarm them. The price is incredibly low, like around 2 USD for a 'canister' set. But even at that price it is theft, really. Completely recommend against even looking at one of these directly. Hearing that a Canadian store would try selling those at 8 $us actually offends me :/ . I don't even get why they are so popular in here. In my city, you can get an used bionicle canister for less than an invincibility robot's cost if you know where to look ^^. But it seems people buy these... things (they keep popping up in the streets and even super markets), possibly because of lack of information. Edit: Anyway, this set seems to be a bootleg of 8745 Roporak, the random color scheme is admittedly LEGO's fault, although I think that LEGO has been experiment with the 'brown' characters since that year with more or less success in some waves.
