  1. I thought I was classified as a hater? I truly don't care who's team I'm on as long as there's a fight!
  2. I've got LOTS of muskets, I just kinda like the looks of the rifle. A real musket doesnt flare at the ends like the LEGO muskets do. If you think this puppy is big lookit my Agamemnon, thats gonna be HUGE. Oh yeah phred you wanted to know if the would be completed at the same time, the answer is no Challenger should be done shortly and the Agamemnon should be done by summer I'd say. Unfortunately I do have to feed the kids and pay the bills so I have to work...sigh...I think doing this kind of stuff full time would be pretty durn nifty.
  3. Actually most lego was designed in Denmark, couldn't we assume that technically they are all Danish Troopers? :)
  4. thats two "2x4 black technic plates with 3 holes" and a "Black Technic Rotation Joint Ball Loop" and boatloads of string...get it "boat" loads hahahahhahahahahah......well I thought it was funny. and yes thats a capstan theres rods around there somewhere to fit into those holes too!
  5. Of course there will be food 'french' fries, 'english' muffins, 'danishes', 'italian' sausage.... y'know european food. :) Of course they don't speak english they speak euro. Its like here in Canada we speak Canuck. Example: "So I was playin' hockey last nite eh? and I hip checked that there fella eh? and I think I broke his arm eh? but no biggie eh? cause we got medicare!"
  6. Not much to see yet but I thought I'd start this thread sooner than later. This project should go somewhat faster since I learned so much in constructing the HMS Challenger. heres some of the cannons under construction and some french troops to keep an eye on 'les anglais' http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...onstruction.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...adversaries.jpg and of course recruiting for the agamemnon is moving along quite well. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...memnon_crew.jpg and heres the keel and some closeups of the hull http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...n_keel_fore.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...hull_detail.jpg this will be the folder once moderated. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=221201 and heres the low rez of the same http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...on122906001.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...on122906002.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...on122906003.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...on122906004.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...on122906005.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...allenger001.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...allenger002.jpg
  7. New pics. Have not finished the rigging on the mizzen mast or anything above the fighting tops yet but the end is near! http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...ins_cabin_1.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...ins_cabin_2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...ated_fore_1.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...ated_fore_2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...levated_aft.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...arterdeck_1.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...arterdeck_2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...6__poopdeck.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10..._incomplete.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...6__poopdeck.jpg and once moderated http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=221195 enjoy!
  8. It be a battle of those who like POTC against those who don't...ARRRR!
  9. thats noose, not neuce. Neuce is an author, noose is a rope.
  10. Well if honor is not satisfied, it will have to be settled in honorable combat....Ships at twenty paces. If Norrington wins the comments are purged and Admiral Starwind's post is edited. If Mr Tiber wins the comments stay and the conversation on ship construction continues. Being the eldest member and hence the most mature (ha) I hereby make myself referee. You will each need a 2nd to speak for you and a ship to fight with. (at the very least it might be fun!)
  11. While I do 'like' POTC, I'd take Master and Commander or the Hornblower series anyday. Ok... so me and Phred stick the rest....I think maybe we should separate Mr Tiber and Norrington onto separate teams though...I fear there's a friendly fire incident lurking in the near future. ...and as for the middle finger I take it in the spirt it was given with...as a joke. Besides I work for a bank I've been called worse! :)
  12. Okday everyone! go to neutral corners, take a time out, and lets resume discussion on the Admirals nice looking ship. Remember we are pirates, and sometimes piratey language issues forth ( although I didn't really find it that offensive, having one of those mentionned items myself ;) ) Anywho I find large projects can be completed by buying the required pieces in batches to complete certain sections, therefore stretching the total cost for the project out over a longer period of time.
  13. Oh can I play too!? POTC sucks! actually i like POTC.. I just wanna get in a scrap with my ship!
  14. Nope, finishing the rigging and fine details of the HMS Challenger (44guns) I finally got the captains cabin looking how it should, and have keel 80% complete on HMS Agamemnon (64 guns). Although 3rd project is going to be either a twin pair of french corvettes (20 guns each ), or a french 3rd rate (74 guns), I have to have something for HM navy to fight! My major problem is going to be where to put them once completed!
  15. Hi there SerDan73! Your galley stove looks way better than the two designs I had...so with your permission... I'm gonna 'pirate' that stove verbatium for my frigate. BTW there was a nifty looking minfig piano around here somewhere, does anyone know where that might be and who made it? That would look marvelous in the captain's cabin!
  16. I believe its a holder, we used to use them to show off cell phones at a store I used to work at. Most 44 gun frigates looked kinda puffed up and where usually quite a bit wider that a typical frigate since they where usually razeed ships of the line. Also with those larger cannons they'd need to be supported with a larger hull otherwise the ship would snap in half under the extra weight, never a good thing when at sea to have your ship come apart :)
  17. I find the 2x2 roundy thingys with the longest technic pin you can find. works pretty good, and fairly solid as long as you have some proper stays and shrouds attached (either plastic or string) to help with the height. The masts on my HMS Challenger are at least 4 feet and surprisingly I can pick up the ship (carefully) and move it between locations as my wife kicks me out of each room I take over to work on it. I don't even bother with the prefab pirate mast now, except for the bowspirt. Although a seven year old running at full tilt and "accidentally" hitting the bowspirt usually makes a spectacular amount of collateral damage. Kinda reminds me of the scene where the Surprise takes out the Acherons Mainmast in Master and Commander.....creeeeek...groan....smash!
  18. Looks VERY good! I love the sides and the bow spirt. If I had to find soething to be critical of... I'd say the 4x4 roundy things on the mizzen look a bit too wide (in my opinion) but that beastie would be a real threat to anyone you'd play EvilStevies Pirate game with.....wanna play?
  19. theres alot of good ideas in this thread too! mayhap they should be combined into a honkin huge thread and pinned... http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=6025
  20. heck i dont even use those lego prefabs....MOCs all the way! Last count was 80 of the 24 pounder style and 20 of the smaller 12 pounder variety. although i've got about 40 of the prefabs hangin around somewhere.
  21. Yup... although I had solid food today. I was dreaming of eating a ham sandwich with vegetable soup and I finally got to have some about 6 hours ago. Unfortunately i'm so dehydrated I'm as weak as a kitten I'm home sick from work with 4 unpacked orders from BL and I haven't got the coordination to rig the ship.
  22. Yup ignore previous.....STAY AWAY FROM NORWALK VIRUS! I've lost 8 pounds in 48 hours from "input" and "output" problems
  23. ***EDITED for excessive dumbness*****
  24. quote: www.mocpages.com/moc.php/21250 this web site uses 3x3 angled bricks, this is my favorite mega pirate moc online right now thanks for the complement! although I believe the captain would be somewhat offended to be called a pirate...being royal navy and all. :) I've been planning on finishing up the Challenger (44 guns) and concentrating on the Agamemnon (64 guns) soonish. I've spent the last couple days dying with a Norwalk like virus and am still recovering so it'll be acouple days. Can't wait to see new pics from you too!
  25. In the last year I've put in 21 bricklink orders averaging between 40-60 dollars. I usually wait for Zellers to have its "buy one get one at half price sale" and I'll blow a couple hundred there, plus they have a good liquidation sale on discontinued lego usually in september-october that usually sucks another couple hundred out of my budget. This is above and beyond what my boys get for lego. Our rule of thumb is anything starwars or batman belongs to my boys aged 5 and 7, anything miltary or piratey is mine. My poor pirates typically get wiped out pretty bad during scrimages, imagine cutlasses against lightsabres, muskets and rifles against blasters, v-wings and Slave One against frigates and such....let just say the sharks get fed regularly and have put on a fair amount of weight from binge eating.
