I would care if my name is mentionned or not...if people are curious enough once viewing the collage of pics more power to them. By the way I think this is an excellent idea! Mayhap we could have one like this for ship 'accesories' too like anchors, cannons etc...

My biggest 'one that got away' was back in 1996 and toy store named Toys and Wheels had a going out of business sale. I had money, and they had lots on sale, and I bought stuff but I shoulda bought alot more. The one thing that alway stuck in my mind was the stack of Mach 2 Red Bird Rigs at 40 bucks a pop (thats kit number 5591 and 40 canadian dollars) I bought two and shoulda bought the rest...there was at least 6-8 more sitting there....WAH!!!

Sets containing piratical and/or complimentary elements!
Aaron Morse replied to Berry Syedow's topic in LEGO Pirates
Just goes to show youre never too old to learn something, I had to google "morion" to get a definition. Yeah I've got ONE morion...is that really what they're called? Are they called anything else? At a buck or so a piece I'll think I'll have to stick with shakos, but I'll find my morion and slap it on one to show you what it looks like. -

Yeah the heads they came with look pretty spanish to me. They had a bin of 4801 Defense Archers on sale at a Sears last year for a buck a piece...naturally I cleaned them out (68 of them if I remember correctly) And those Shark kits they had a sale at Zellers for 50% off discontinued kits and I snagged 5 of those too! -

I'm planing on changing thier arm color to blue and using them to beef up the french troops or they could be spanish with red or green arms -

I've been using those knight pieces for "extras" or "cannon fodder" for a while now, they actually look pretty good. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...w/extras004.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...w/extras005.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...w/extras006.jpg got a good amount of sharks too! Probably gonna have a shark lagoon or something sometime http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...w/extras003.jpg these work pretty good too for british cannon fodder http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...w/extras002.jpg and these are my modern day army time travellers come back to right the wrongs of past history http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...w/extras001.jpg -

Good review! I'm not a big fan of MegaBloks, I fact I believe i've passed on this dislike to my children, because whenever we go through the lego we buy at garage sales they always scream "Ewwwwh!" when they find a piece of MegaBloks mixed in with the lego. I think this review puts into sharp focus that Lego really does need a new Pirate line up. Like you said the only real useful pieces are the accessories and I really dont like the look of the minifigs, they look...cheap.

Try living in Canada, being so close to the US we use both. for instance I am 6 feet tall, weigh 210 lbs but its -1 degree celcuis outside, and I travel 3 kilometers to work, we use millimeters, centimeters, inches, feet and meters interchangably. eeek! BTW wheels under the hull is a really cool idea Phred!

In that case they'd be "Danish made by child labor using plastic derived from dead compressed dinosaurs from the Middle east troopers", we'll call them "dino troopers" for short. ok I've taken it too far....

RBC Royal Bank in Canada, we also run RBC Centura in several southern states in USA. I believe the money tree is exclusive to our branch. I don't have a degree but have 10 years management and business owner experience so thats just like having a business degree in thier eyes. Yup its gonna be pretty durn huge.

When you said your pirates had class and elegance I immediately thought of this song http://www.raystevens.com/SongLyrics/PirateSongLyrics.html

By "regiment" you mean how many minifigs? I usually deal with squads, platoons and companies. Or do you mean just the color bearers?

I work for a bank and they have this large money tree in back that we have money fights with, and when our noses are runny or we run out of toilet paper...there's always the money tree. Just in case you don't believe me here's a couple of pics of the two ships together (low rez pics complements of IrfanView) http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...allenger001.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/morsea10...allenger002.jpg

Pirates Of The Caribbean - The Curse Of The Black Pearl
Aaron Morse replied to Bonaparte's topic in Pirate MOCs
I don't believe we'll be needing Davey's help. Threats are usually to cover the lack of action :) -
I've got tons of yellow, tan, brown, and white for future projects. I'll probably go with brown or yellow with the Agamemnon

'Brick, Modified 1 x 4 x 1 1/3 with Curved Top part#6191' by the top, and 'Slope 75 2 x 2 x 3' up the sides

I have everything I need to make the keel, bottom gun deck, 26x24-pounder cannons cannons (already to go!) I have enough lego string for the rigging. I have to order windows, technic pins, gun port covers, and about 4 or 5 different types of curvy parts. Besides that I have 2 hurdles that await me. The first is figuring out how to access the bottom gun deck once I have the upper and spar deck atop that. I'm figuring I'll have to have the entire bottom come away from the top or have slide out sections, but I'll know more once I do some mock ups to see if it would be structurally sound. I orginally thought I'd have to have pull away or slide off sections but it interfere with the stays and rigging. The second is designing 18 pounders for the top gun deck (I may just shorten the 24 pounders and call it a 18 pounder but that kinda seems like a cop out.)

I was more thinkin' like 'Grab yer MOC,yer crew, and a ruler, cause we got POTC lovers to humiliate in mortal simulated combat!' -
Egad! what nice pics on that site! Yeah it looks really wide, but all the prefab tests I did show that it will look just about right, considering there two gun decks plus alot of slanting up on the way up the gunwales. Of course you can call me Aaron!

What do your friends/family think of your hobby?
Aaron Morse replied to Brainbox's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Being 36 years old I really don't care what people think of my hobby...wait I've always felt that way, I've never considered changing any of my habits for anyone else. In fact I've even converted some non-believers to the dark side and they've started back on the LEGO fix. My wife tolerates it, and finds its a better hobby than getting a girlfriend as a hobby, and my two boys (aged 5 and 7 ) love it. From my boys point of view its very easy to get daddy to buy you LEGO cause theres bound to be a piece or two that daddy needs! -
I'm sensing some resistance to my suggestion.... actually several pics online show some nice red and blue uniforms for the Danish line forces in the 17th and 18th century. http://www.milhist.dk/uniforms/1848_3.gif
