Heroica RPG - Quest #65: Breaking Down the Door
The Legonater replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
...Is it at all possible this dragon is the one under Eubric? No one seems to know how it gone down there, and this witch would be a logical conclusion... I suppose we don't know the name of this witch? -
Ah, true.

Read all of the Silmarillion if you can. If only for the duel with Morgoth and the rock battle with Sauron.

I'd probably be more useful if I was aware of what exactly this story was, Cronk. -

Finally alone, Dyric ponders on the lessons he's learned thus far. Lessons of humility, of leadership, of reaching out. Never did he expect such a simple-seeming quest to offer so much. The silence is disrupted by the descent of the dumbwaiter. With a sigh, Dyric enters the dumbwaiter and begins his ascent. -
Like I said in the Quest Master's Lounge, I feel I gave out too much loot in this quest.

I think we can assume Xander sent the dumbwaiter down, and Nerwen is on her way up? -

It seems everything is going fine upstairs. Ladies first? -
Good times. The more I think about it, the more I realize the original games had the most originality. It's like they keep coming up with new stuff and don't know how to put a new spin on the old.

Really? I was impressed by just how much emotion LEGO LotR carried compared to LEGO games in the past. Obviously not as much as the books or movies, but it was a definite effort to carry the same plot and emotion from LotR while still maintaining its essence. It would easily be my favorite LEGO game yet if it didn't take so long to load everything. It and the Gunship fight were frustrating, sure, but I think they had they're own little charm to them. I was really thrown off-balance when I saw how much they changed the levels for The Complete Saga.

I like it! Vastin really ticked him off...

Exactly. There's no single big bad, but rather groups of them with a vaguely over-arcing goal (chaos, warfare, revolution, etc) that threatens Heroica at its core, its essence. Maybe I'm looking too far into this, but at this point that just the way it seems.
-
Frankly, I'd disagree that Baba is the Big Bad. Sure, she's the key villain right now, but I think the largest threat to Heroica will always be, not any particular individual, but chaos and anarchy in general. It's been discussed before, but a lot of the themes in Heroica eventually come down to chaos vs order, and I think it will continue that way for a long time.

Dyric and Guts have quested together before, and the end goal of Team Guts seems the same as his own. If Guts asked him, he'd probably say yes.

That would be interesting. The Houses eventually falling apart into ruin, the Heroica groups rising to take control... only ending up battling like the Houses did.

Cronk will go up. We'll wait by the dumbwaiter for the moment. -
Heh, I've got a few good stories for this thread. The following in particular has become an in-joke among my family and I - a few years ago, I was looking through the LEGO aisle when this kid came buy with his mom, saying "Ooh, I wish I wanted that. Oh, I wish I wanted that! Oh, I really wish I wanted that!" About a year ago now, I remember seeing a little kid gushing over the Jabaa's Palace set, his mother showing a little concern. Me: Hey, if that set looks cool now, I know in a couple months they're coming out with a rancor pit set which attaches underneath it. Mother: Really? Me: Oh yeah, it's really cool. Mother: ...*Points kid to the Palace again* Hey, let's talk to Dad about getting this one, okay?

Dyric Rone is above your petty gangs and seeks only the greater good of Eubric. IE Team Guts

Honestly? I would say the opposite. The levels are at least the same length, if not shorter. Everything is much easier to figure out now - during LEGO LotR they practically gave you tips on every single thing you had to do.
-
I understand why you feel the way you do - and frankly its much better a complaint than most of the ones I've heard again Iron Man 3 - though I do disagree. Knowing you, I don't expect to radically change your opinion that much, it just seems to me you might be interpreting things a bit negatively.

Regarding RDJ's contract, I think it's fitting that he take a slightly-less action packed role in the MCU. Personally, I hope in the next few years Marvel buys back X-Men, Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, and then set things up for a Civil War arc. Naturally, that would place Tony Stark into the Director of SHIELD role, a position I think RDJ would be more comfortable with, given he's not getting any younger.
-
We have assigned tables now? I must have missed the memo. That really kills the whole rogue-ish feel to the place.
-
I wouldn't say many of them do. Stark kills quite a few, but he is a former weapons manufacturer, and despite his development one might say he's become used to the concept. Abomination was I believe captured by Ross, Loki obviously lived, and the Red Skull sort of brought his death(?) upon himself.

I suppose you are right. I do wonder if we would need someone to stay down here in case there is a problem and the door is out of reach but the dumbwaiter isn't, however that seems to specific an issue to worry about.
