Hi Jchavoya. Thanks for not wanting to spam... though the point of those kinds of limits is to encourage folks to actually become part of the community. Look around the board and contribute to discussion. Pick up some extra posts by saying "Hi" to everyone in the Introduce Yourself area. It won't take that long, really. Speaking of discussion... what is this collectible that you're looking for that you think you may find in the Bazaar?

Those are so great! Thanks for the review. Hope they'll appear somewhere in the US (besides eBay!)... that's a great promotional item.

I always liked the round things...

It would be easier if you could use 2-stud wide plates instead of 1 so you'd have half as many connection points to deal with. I think the best way to go about this if you need rigidity is to have technic cross members that run from one outer face of the cylinder across the center to the opposite face, with all the cross members joined through the center in a spiral. Even with 2-wide plates on the exterior you'll still need to have multiple connections for each cross member to fit them in with sufficient support, but it would be do-able.

Another great build for your city! I really like the sacks used as flower planters on the 2nd floor balcony, and how the interior levels are shaped. That fenced area in the back seems like such a lush oasis against all that dirt.

I agree with everything Daimar said - love the classic feel with the updated techniques/look! I particularly like the trees against the castle wall (but the enemy could climb them!), the simple but effective terrain and foliage, and the different colors of exposed brick you added to the castle walls. Just lovely!

I like everything about this build, from the simple but elegant structure to the great fence and gear strewn about it to the shaping of the terrain. Looking forward to seeing the next phase!

[MOC] The Monolith
deraven replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great. But how will this push the future development of the Technic figs who were thought to be an evolutionary dead-end?? -
Site works fine for me. Try a different browser and see if there's any difference as a first troubleshooting step.

New LEGO Forma
deraven replied to Corrado's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I disagree, personally. I would rather Lego worked with JK and put out some enhanced versions rather than doing this. As has been noted before, I think the movement is sloppy and that's something that JK always gets very right. But maybe this is a first step into that kind of thing which would be awesome. 100% agreed on that! It's like Jack Stone juniorization all over again if it's used for anything else outside of this very limited scope. I can segment in my mind and find value in the "true" Lego part of the experience being building the Technic mechanism and then the skins just being to "pretty it up" a bit for this different target audience they're aiming for. It's a bit like the old Technic where you'd build all the awesome mechanics and then they had just the few swoops of flextube to suggest the rest of the shape of what you were building, and with limited use this feels a bit like that to me. So long as the skins thing sticks only to similar projects, perhaps all in the Forma line, I don't think it'll bother me. -
New LEGO Forma

They're limiting it to 1 per account, probably to discourage that as well as to gauge actual interest. This is what I was getting at earlier myself (maybe in the other thread)- I think that's also the reason it's on Indiegogo instead of being sold direct: it has that more "hip," quirky, non-toy feel for the people they're trying to connect with. I've seen ads for it coming up in my social media feeds, and they don't even mention Lego or show the logo anywhere. Clearly trying to break into another segment of consumers and play up the limited run appeal and whatnot. I think it rubs some of us on this board the wrong way because we're obviously already well past such contrivances. -

How do you mean? Are you not able to see the video at the top of this thread or the links in the other one? Most of the detail can be found here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/lego-forma-add-a-splash-of-creativity-to-your-day/ -

The pins/pegs that secure the skin are the only new element, and right now only appear in this Forma set (and the skin packs). That had been noted in a few quotes from the designers on various sites. -

Nice build in general - love the cherry blossom tree! The colors in the cobblestone are nice as well, as are the koi under water. -
My (work in progress) moc heisler narrow gauge loco
deraven replied to Connor's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hi Connor - welcome to EB! I'm sure we'd all like to see more of your MOC, so please note that Eurobricks is not for hosting images. That small 100k of local storage is for your profile picture and potentially small images/icons used in your board signature. To post images in topics/comments, you want to use a 3rd party host like Flickr and deep-link the images. Here's a tutorial on that: -
I'm excited to see TLG trying something like this. I'm not sure why they're going the Indiegogo route since they would have no problem handling orders through their current infrastructure (probably pure marketing, trying to appeal to that segment of "adults" they're pointing this at in a hip(ster) way), but I could see them doing various 1-off projects in smaller batches like this which has a lot of potential. That being said, this is also my only issue: the movement just isn't that good. It should be just as Bartybum said, and shouldn't be that challenging to accomplish. A supplementary set of instructions about how to rebuild the gearing to different movement with the shark skin, for example, would be cool, but the koi should move more elegantly. I'm surprised they put it up moving like that given the market they're shooting for. Hmm... maybe it'll be further refined before release.

Yeah, looks good, but $200 USD even with the Power Functions that are included seems like an awful lot for an 800 piece set! At first glance I was hoping it was just the model with PF optional and a more reasonable price point. Oh well!
-
Very nicely done! You've captured all of the key elements of the look, and it's very easy to recognize.
-
You might also want to consider picking up some of the Lego Architecture sets (or looking at the instructions online) to get a feel how they do some of the buildings at those scales. Then I would suggest picking 1 or 2 iconic NY buildings to try yourself, and try to do them as small as you possibly can while still keeping the look as a first building & planning exercise. Since you're very new to this, it might help to have some reference photos of the building online to look at while browsing parts inventory in Lego Digital Designer (or another digital building app like LDraw or Studio) and look for specific elements or combinations of elements that mimic parts of he buildings. That can help define the scale overall, and building a couple yourself after also having familiarized yourself with the official Architecture techniques will probably get you a much better idea of at least what size you want to attempt.
