Treasure Hunting 101 - Always Doublecheck for Curses
deraven replied to vitreolum's topic in Pirate MOCs
That's wonderful! The bile of sand, the palm tree with the lovely leaves, the 5 o'clock shadow on the treasure seeker, and especially those pants and the posing on the skeleton - all great! -
Slowly, yes. It still goes for $150-200 USD so not that much more than the original retail price, but it's already been discontinued for 2 years and I can only imagine will continue to increase as they become more scarce. Not likely to happening overnight, but if it's something you want to add to your collection I'd look at grabbing it sooner than later since the other 2 you mentioned are still current products.

[MOC] LEGO models of 3 NYC art-deco skyscrapers
deraven replied to Deep Shen's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Those are all great, but I'm particularly fond of the Chrysler building's top. You did a great job capturing the look, and using the parrots there for the sculptures at each corner is just fantastic parts usage! -
Hi bttfyoshi62 - welcome to EB! I'm sure we'd like to see more of your MOCs - that the paperclip/upload option on Eurobricks is only for very small images to be used in your signature line here on the board. You only get 100K total, so even 1 regular image probably pushed you to the limit of available space. For sharing photos of MOCs and other general items like this, you'll want to use a 3rd party service and I think most folks would recommend Flickr (if you're not using a Lego specific service like Brickshelf, etc.). Here's a tutorial on linking/embedding Flickr images in your posts: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/97921-flickr-tutorial/ Happy building!

If you're only getting one, I'd go with Assembly Square. It can also bridge the gap between styles, so that's another reason I'd get it as a stand-alone that you can then decide to add to later however you'd like. I think Pet Shop is a nice set, but not nearly as much detail inside (if that's something you're looking for), and not a very interesting exterior as well, though it is a nice addition to a street full of other modulars, I just wouldn't get it on its own to begin with. One other thing to take into account, however, is that Pet Shop will become increasingly hard to find so if you're adding to an existing collection that might push it to the top of the list. Downtown Diner is nice and visually interesting, but I don't think it goes with the other Modular buildings very well, so if you're planning on getting more of the older line in the future (or already have some that you're adding to), I'd not go with it over either of the other 2. But, of course, your own preferences and tastes are most important!

Very nicely done. Both "pumpkins" work well, and even your small patch of ground there looks good. I especially like the ascot.

eBay? Seems like the obvious answer if you want the widest market and a quick sale. Facebook Marketplace would also work.

Very cool! That white frame around the door really makes it pop and seem even more spooky, drawing attention and inviting someone to consider going in. The legs on it are well done as well as the way it's posed and works well with the rest of the scene, too.

A very nice rendition indeed! I've always enjoyed the mini-size ships. Too bad we never got something like a fleet box from Lego with 1,000 pieces and a variety of 15-ish ships of this scale.

That's great! The minifigs are nicely done, just the right amount of gold accents on the hearse, and I absolutely love the way the flowers came out incorporating that newer leaf element!

Welcome to EB, GrandDukeofKumquats! Remember that this is an 18+ forum, but I assume that 14 years you mentioned is just your time in Christchurch. Glad you've found Eurobricks and can enjoy a community of like-minded folks and really embrace the Lego love. Happy building!

Welcome to EB - and back to Lego yourself - Chris! Happy building!

I think it's a nice improvement overall, especially the cockpit. Are they just this part, in white? https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=x224&name=Windscreen 8 x 6 x 2 Curved&category=[Windscreen]#T=C But looks like this is the first time they've been molded in white if so. Nice MOD!

To post images in topics/comments, you want to use a 3rd party host like Flickr and deep-link the images. Here's a tutorial on that:

My first thought was also an Explorien minifig as imvanya said. Someone could have just swapped the helmet, obviously. If that's not it just share a picture and I'm sure you'll get a quick response!

But do I NEED a bathroom and stairs...?
deraven replied to Lego Mike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Like the others here, I think it depends on the type of project and what you're wanting the focus of the build to be. If you're building a residence, it seems like it ought to have a bathroom. If it's a public building, it obviously should have one IRL, but I think most people don't miss it if it's not included. I think stairs or an elevator are more of a necessity myself, but if you're really squeezed for space on something I'd omit the bathroom first, stairs second if necessary. I think stairs or elevators can add interior architectural detail and more interest overall of the MOC. I find upper floor(s) accessibility to be less missed on builds in the Classic Town style (smaller buildings, open back for play access), but if it's something like a Modular I think people will ask "how do the minifigs get to the other floors" before "where do the little plastic people go to the bathroom"? -
Welcome to EB, Tassiruam! That's a nice looking Christmas display you have there - looking forward to seeing your next one. Happy building!

Now that's a great idea! Just be careful of the felt, then.

Looking good! Is this just going to be a display/play (including the pool table) area, or a build area as well? You could so some fun setups or projects if you put a top on that pool table. The 3 rides running with PF look really good together there. As for the train tunnel, I love that idea but would say to think carefully about noise propagation; if you're playing/building in that room when he's supposed to be sleeping, will that sound carry straight through and be an issue for him? Looking forward to seeing things progress as you add more.

2018 competition of China Lego Train Funs Group
deraven replied to marbleman's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Wow, what a great group of trains! I especially like the HXD2D and Kawasaki M8. Thanks for sharing!
