  1. Haven't received the printed catalog yet for summer, but I have seen them without prices before randomly, though not for a long time now that I can remember. Would be interesting if someone has the info on why they do that. I can't imagine it's because they haven't settled on pricing, but maybe it's for a catalog they are going to use across multiple regions and so omit prices rather than having various currencies. Romania still uses the leu and not Euro, correct? Maybe they have one printed with Euro and then another printed for distribution to all non-Euro European areas or something? Still, as to why that would have been a recent change, I don't know!
  2. Wow, you've captured Kevin very nicely! Even the extra color on his plumes. I also appreciate the detail you put in with the plates trying to capture the gradient going from his belly to back. Great build!
  3. Welcome to EB, LemFliggity! That looks like a nice MOD, and I look forward to seeing it incorporated into the set IRL. If you've not run across it yet, BrickLink may be able to get you your pieces much more quickly... but it's dangerous for the pocketbook, too. Happy building!
  4. Jack Stone and Galidor were really just grea... no... no, I can't do it! Agreed! Market Street doesn't count as a Modular Building.
  5. Yes, if you look closely you can see the texture on the handle end of the whip, so it's either 88704 or 61975.
  6. Of my set purchases currently- 15% goes straight into parts 15% stay in the boxes for an undefined period of time (a few for collecting, but most just because I never get through my build queue) 20% get built as-is and kept for display purposes for some longish period of time (Modular Buildings, some of the Ideas sets, other general sets I just really like) 50% (the rest of them) get built via the instructions once for the entertainment value and potentially seeing updated building techniques, etc., and then are fairly quickly disassembled and used for other things or put into the parts collection (sometimes they're "disassembled" by my kids having massive battles with them and whatnot - they know what it's OK to do that with and what are Dad's toys to be left alone). That being said, I don't think there's anything right or wrong about what you do with your own Lego. Building and MODing is definitely part of being an AFOL/enthusiast, but nothing wrong with just enjoying a nice set design as-is, either!
  7. Welcome to EB, DragonB81! Sounds like a great project and I'll look forward to seeing those new Classic Castle elements incorporated into your tournament. Happy building!
  8. What a wonderful rendition! The shaping on the bottom is especially good. Great build!
  9. That's always my go-to as well. Here's the last snapshot the Wayback Machine has, from May of this year: https://web.archive.org/web/20190526211932/http://mocrecipes.com/ Since it's recently gone and the URL at least still works, perhaps there's hope that it'll be fixed and come back to life at some point!
  10. If you found a legitimate copy of the set for 80 Euro, I don't think you're going to find a better deal. That's about half of retail price, so unless it's used/open box I would be cautious with the purchase unless you already trust the seller.
  11. For what it's worth, I prefer #3 since it feels "cleaner" to me and can be a nice finishing touch at the end of the build, but if you already have plenty of comments in the instructions already I don't suppose it really matters. As long as it's clearly defined what to build and hold and where it all attaches, I'd have no problem with that kind of note myself and would definitely prefer it to #1 and then dealing with the protruding bits for the rest of the build.
  12. From what I have seen, the boxes seem to have the same outer appearance as far as the finish/look goes within the same market, with the printed information on the box differing by market. I would imagine that most markets have consistent packaging in both physical look and information on the box, so perhaps all the sets in the Chinese market have a shiny finish, most in the USA are more matte, etc., but withing those regions the look is consistent. I used to see some variation in the packaging for the Ideas sets, but that seems to have evened out with the last several releases, at least here in the US.
  13. Very nice all-around! The groundwork is simple but effective, your trees are very nice, and the use of brown with the tan on top works really well for the fort! Nice touch with the one log that has the printed tree ring pattern instead of being sharpened like the others. Nice minifigs, too.
  14. So, to your point about metrics for objective value of a set, I'd say I'm 95% in agreement. I would prefer to see your same set of data looking only at the weight of the Lego elements and not total packaged weight... but that brings me to the only reason I don't think PPP is "outdated" vs a more accurate metric like PPG: Information on the weight of the set is not easily and readily available for quick comparison purposes. Since the piece count is right on the box along with the price being obvious, the quick math is the easy way to go. Now, I would say if large numbers of people were basing their purchasing decisions solely on the PPP, it might be more important to push for something like PPG... but I don't think anyone looks at sets in a vacuum that way and can pretty quickly identify the other selling points of a set if they see that the PPP is higher than average. I don't think PPP was ever meant to be more than a quick-and-dirty comparison method, and as that I think it still serves its purpose and it's outdated. However, if more services like Brickset started automatically calculating the PPG on sets the same way they do the PPP, I think that would go a long way toward making it a better tool for comparing the value of sets against each other in a more accurate way. I very much agree with this as well, and shows how even mostly objective measures keep spilling over into subjectivity when it comes to Lego!
  15. That's great. The overall shape of the vehicle is so well done, and I love the functionality you've included! Definitely a shame on the stacking of the discs being out of proportion, but that's a pretty minor annoyance given how lovely the rest of the build is. Thanks for sharing!
  16. That does sound pretty interesting. I'd like to see some photos and video of it in action. I'm sure there's other interest here as well, but you'll probably get more traction to your topic if you edit the text a bit (so it's not just a wall of text that some folks might not read), and of course photos will catch peoples' eye, too. Thanks for sharing, and welcome to EB!
  17. Welcome to EB, Paolo! Nice to have you here with us as an active member now. Happy building!
  18. Welcome to EB, gryphus! That's a nice collection you've got there. As for photos, the paperclip/upload option on Eurobricks that you're talking about is only for very small images to be used in your signature line here on the board. For sharing photos of MOCs, etc., you'll want to use a 3rd party service and I think most folks would recommend Flickr, if not using a Lego-focussed image hosting service. Here's a tutorial on linking/embedding Flickr images in your posts: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/97921-flickr-tutorial/ Happy building & collecting!
  19. Beautiful! Shame about the interior, but I totally understand your reasoning on that and it makes sense. I think the exterior will be spectacular enough on it's own anyway! Looking forward to seeing more, and the completed and lit display. Nice job integrating those angled entrances on the side, btw - looks great!

    4-wide cars

I like #25 a lot. That 2 to 3 to 4 stud stepping works really well!
  21. Welcome to EB, Rob! Happy building!
  22. Those look great! NPU with the old style torsos for the engine block on that first one. I think my favorite is the Lego truck.
  23. Welcome to EB, Luiggi! Happy building!
  24. Welcome to EB, Peterpannie, and cheers to the end of your dark ages! Lots of great info and inspiration for you here, that's for sure. Happy building!
  25. Very cool! Nice overall look, and the droid head, Technic bushings with the piping towards the back, and that exposed yellow stanchion used as part of the reactor support structure are all great touches. Great build!
