I'm not sure I like the black stripes. Looks too much like a zebra shop. You need to put some vertical support beams and space out the horizontal ones. Its especially noticable on the third floor. A window or two up there might help. Other than that, it looks good. Steve

That's a nice way to split the difference... Steve -

Opening sealed antique sets - wonderful or painful ?
Athos replied to drdavewatford's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well an opened/used one appears to be going for between $200 and $300 on bricklink. The new/MISB? are going for about $450 to $700. I'm deliberately leaving out the outrageously priced ones at around $1,400... A new one sold for $450 this month. 4 new ones sold in the last month for an average price of $488... So I'd probably hold onto it. Or put it on bricklink and try to sell it. If you get the average price you'll still have got a 300% return on the MSRP. Go out and buy an MMV... Steve -
I'm not sure if he was the original Cylon God, as in the idea that the Centurions had. But I'm thinking he somehow took on that role after Cavil killed him. Maybe I'm just coming out of left field with this one... Steve

Anyone else think Daniel is going to be the Cylon God? Steve

$399.99 UCS Millennium Falcon, worth it?
Athos replied to mania3's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I'm going to pass on it. But then I'm pretty much done with Star Wars and don't have space for such a monstrous set. And there are just too many other good sets coming down the pipeline, that I'd rather drop my money on those. Though I did enjoy the Sandcrawler. Lots of brown and three jawas... I'd say get that and skip the falcon. Steve -

They probably just found some old stock stashed away in a warehouse somewhere. It happens occasionally. I got mine in '07 for half price. I didn't think it was that great of a set, but it was nice for 1/2 off. Here's the lugnet listing: lugnet listing. Steve -
Fun With Agents 8632 Swamp Raid

I was hoping for something funnier and maybe less violent? Though if the violence was funnier, then I wouldn't mind it. Steve -
It might have some potential. The figures seem to have good torsos for non-Star-Wars applications. I'd like to see more pictures before making a final judgment. Though I will say, I don't really need a third blasted A-wing... Steve

I don't know what happened with the lighting on that one, I think the battery was so low, the flash didn't work... Two more space figures? Wonder why space is getting all the love? Steve

Redesign looks much better. The porch looks good and the fences along the top too. Though I think I liked the roof facing the other direction... I wonder if you could lower those flowers in front of the windows, they don't look right there... I'm also not sure I like the tan porch supports, but don't know what else would look better... Not red or white, I think... Steve
-
Not bad. It need something along the side. That black wall is just too blank. Does it have an interior? It looks like there might be something in there... Steve
-
I'm not real fond of the red around the upper windows. Its too much red for me. Also I think if you raised the entire house by one brick, so there was a front porch, it would look a lot better. I'm also not sure about that black line across the middle... Beyond that, I think it looks quite good. Does it have an interior at all? I'm also jealous of your three cypress trees... Steve

So its like the Avatar contest thing, right? Just build something rocky and you're entered? Only one entry per person, no matter how many rock-MOCs are made? I'm on it...! Steve -
Very sad. Not the way I'd have expected Lego to kill someone either. I'd have guessed it'd have been by choking on a brick. Maybe that's just me, as I tend to hold my Lego parts in my mouth... Steve

Very cool! Looks just like him. Steve

OK here are some more detailed thoughts: On the barn: I don't like the color changes at the hinges and arches. I know that's probably because you didn't have the colors you wanted. As a way to fix that, I'd frame the doors all in the color you're using for the hinges or arches. And the accent the rest of the building in that color. I'd also consider another color for the roof, because red and yellow makes me think of McDonalds, and while Old McDonald had a farm, the colors say Ronald McDonald... The yellow actually works better than I'd have thought. What else I'd change is, raise that double square door up to be a loft on the second floor and maybe do something to make it less boxy. As to the house: again I don't like those grey arches that appear to be grey only because you didn't have white ones. Again, what would help is to make the arch supports grey all the way to the ground. It also doesn't look like a farm house as much as it looks like a villa. I think that's the colors again and some of the architectural details (like the fences/flowerboxes in front of the windows). A covered porch would help make it more farmy. On the interior, I really don't like the thick floors, especially in different colors. The green makes it look like they carpeted their house with astroturf... I like the seating nook in the kitchen and the red furniture has a nice design (even if I don't like red for the color). Steve
