  1. I wonder if you could put it with the Parisian restaurant to lessen the impact of that weird stair. Steve
  2. A lot of people don't like the 1950s US style diner motif. I am not particularly fond of it either. I don't, however, think it is entirely out of place in the modular street. The time periods are played pretty fast and loose in the modulars, so you can just assume it is a 50s nostalgia style theme restaurant put into a run down building. Steve
  3. I think I must have been unclear. I understand why you did not use slopes. I was curious about the angle of the slopes. It looks not as steep as if you stacked brick on top of brick and then put tiles on the brick. Particularly it looks like there is a bend in the angle on the back corner. Is that just an illusion of the photography? Steve
  4. Very nice. Your pyramid looks like it has a smaller slope. Is that right or just an illusion from the angle of the photo? Do the spears in the trap room move up and down? If not, motorizing them could be a cool effect. Do you have any more photos of the interior? I love the sphinx over the entry to the pyramid. Just a minor nitpick -and I might be wrong about it- but I do not think the Egyptians had arch technology. Steve
  5. Quite lovely. I am definitely going to appropriate some of those details for my Japanese castle I'm working on. Steve
  6. I saw a post that they are re-releasing the CC and GG, but I can't find it again. *EDIT*: Never mind, it appears to be a false rumor, now that I found it again and was able to actually read it. Steve
  7. Well... $#!&. Guess I'm not going to go true minifig scale... Steve
  8. This may have been answered already, but I am curious, assuming a minifig is a properly scaled down person (which I know it isn't), if you scaled up one brick to human size, how tall would that one brick be? What I am really trying to get at, in the end, is: how many bricks high would a pyramid have to be to be a minifig scale replica of the Great Pyramid (~146 meters high)? Steve
  9. I would lower the head and make the claws right beneath the head, like a cow catcher. Steve
  10. I was thinking more steam train. But what I was really getting at is the front is really blocky. Steve
  11. I think you need to make it more Train shaped around the front. Keep the bear head, but fit it into a more Train like shape. Steve
  12. I wish I was better at photographing large MOCs, but here is the gallery: The pyramid is 60 bricks tall. The table I was given for the display was uneven, so it looks like there is a big crack in the pyramid. It actually fits together nicely with technic pins though. Be sure to check out the gallery, as the pyramid has an interior. Steve
  13. I've been working on a new large Egypt layout. I plan to debut the first draft of it at a community Halloween party on Friday, where I should have some better pictures. In the meantime, here is a teaser picture. Steve
  14. I would love a museum. Or a library. Or hospital. Or school. Or anything really... Steve
  15. I wonder if you should find a metric to take the increasing cost of the figures into account? Steve
  16. Seems like the new Jungle Line has the amazon pretty well covered. And Ninjago has the far east covered. I think an African Safari line would be a good theme. Adventurers rescuing animals from poachers. Toss in a few new animals and you've got a gem of a line. Could even include Tarzan, since he is public domain now. Or a 1930s style space serial adventure, with figures like the most recent collectable series retro-spaceman. Something like Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, or John Carter. Johnny Thunder goes to Mars or something. From Earth to the Moon inspired? Or an underwater Adventure with the characters in the diving suits exploring Atlantean ruins and a big Nautilus style submarine. Journey to the Center of the Earth with rock monsters and a big steam powered drilling machine. Haunted castles would be a nice theme to return to. Monster Hunters version two. Still a few monsters left uncovered: invisible man, bride of Frankenstein, a girl mummy? Egypt could be a fun place to return to, too. Pharaoh Quest v.2? Returning to India would be fun too. A less modern Arctic adventure? But, this idea just came to me, as a long term theme: Around the World in 80 days. Balloon bound explorers touch down in all the aforementioned locales each release year. Steve
  17. Seems like a missed opportunity not calling this a Thrawntest.... Steve
  18. Pretty dull offering for all the secrecy. Steve
  19. My ghostly pack of figures (and the strangely out of place gamer (not that I'm complaining because I like him (he just seems out of place)). They'll be perfect for my Haunted Halloween castle layout. Steve
  20. I forgot about the dolphin... we really didn't need a new version of that. I just wish they'd make Lions and Giraffes and Deer and Sheep and Boar and... and... and... Steve
  21. Nice prize. Gamer kid is even better than the zombie driver. Steve
  22. Oooh, I hope it has some spooky ghosts... Maybe the library one and the zombie driver... Steve
  23. It is kind of timely to resurrect this thread since we're getting two species of big cats this year. I figured that's what brought it back to life. Steve
  24. What is the roof made out of? I've been really intrigued with Venice MOCs lately. Steve
