  1. Only 86 to go now. I've been thinking about a Venice MOC for a long time. Steve
  2. Came across this today while browsing the Ideas website. Only 140 votes left to reach the 10,000 mark. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/137949 I apologize if this has been posted before, searches for Venetian and Ideas didn't pull it in. Steve
  3. Makes me wish my German was better than crap... Steve
  4. I want to light up some torches like these. Is it possible and what would I need to do it? Steve
  5. I did not know about that farming method. I like the MOC and those lily pads too (are the flowers just sitting on top or are they connected?). Steve
  6. I am sure there has to be some kind of club within a couple of hours you. I bet a few google searches or well placed inquiries will net you some AFOLs. Steve
  7. Another thing I forgot to mention is hanging out with a LUG or other fans can really increase your building interests. For a long time I had no interest in trains or technic, but since getting involved in a LUG and going to conventions, I've gotten into trains and adding movement to MOCs through technic, Steve
  8. I don't know if this is an option for you, but I would suggest trying to find a local LUG that you can join. Or perhaps visit a convention. Having the interaction with other fans can really jump start your inspiration and get you excited to build. I've found that to, especially, be the case when the LUG is having a display coming up that you can participate in. Conventions can be similar. I had a real lego slump last summer (due to some personal issues) and did not really get back into it until around Halloween when I did a small display for a community event. That gave me the inspiration to start on a bigger project for the next year, which then really got me building (instead of brooding) again. What part of the US are you in? Steve
  9. You can check out the previous 12 cards here.
  10. Always a thrill to pop by and see your name on the winner's board. Thanks for the excitement and fun, CM. And I'm going to guess the Beatles are a prize for this year. Steve
  11. I like the fence design a lot. And the plowed dirt is a nice touch too. Steve
  12. I always enjoy the background scenery too. How many entries did you get this year? Steve
  13. I was so excited about the game part of it and checking out the entries, I had forgotten we didn't know what the prizes are yet. Steve
  14. Great use of color. I like how it all stands out so clearly but does not overwhelm the MOC. I'm definitely going to steal some of your building designs for some MOCs I've got planned. And the back is even better than the front. That boat looks like Sinner the Walrus should be captaining it. Steve
  15. I am not sure it is an ideal snow, but Batman seems to be enjoying it: Steve
  16. The tracks covered with white plates looks really good. The white teeth plates on the wall do as well. Steve
  17. Thanks for the tips. I have been (kind of) enjoying learning about the mechanics of this stuff. Steve
  18. Since everyone was so helpful with my last movement question, I have another. I am trying to work up another movement feature in a MOC, where it will have a werewolf on one side of a wall and a regular person on the other. What I'd like to do is have the figures turn around at an interval, so for one period there is the regular guy and then for the other the werewolf, so it looks like he has transformed. I have no idea how to make this work with just a regular motor though (maybe some kind of a timing chain?). If that is too confusing: basically, what I'd like to have is a gear make a 180 degree turn and then stop for a few minutes and then do it again. Steve
  19. Thanks. It does help. Steve
  20. Got any pictures? Steve
  21. Has anyone redone the Emerald Night in different colors? I'm trying to build one from spare parts and am thinking about swapping out the green for dark grey... Maybe call it the Stormy Night... Before I order all the brick I need, I was wondering if anyone else has done it and how it looks. Steve
  22. I really need to up my game to compete with your shots. Steve
  23. BricksCascade is in March in Portland, Oregon, USA. Any EB'rs going? Steve
  24. Missed it this year (and last). Did go in 2013 and 2014 though. Steve
  25. These mega-figures are starting to get popular. Someday when I get a lot of green I'm going to add him to my collection of them. Steve
