  1. I don't recall seeing any Star Wars vignettes (well other than the storyteller sets), so I thought I'd do some of my own. Here's the first: Luke in the Wampa Cave. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...Wars/wampa2.jpg Here's the gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=122159 Hope you like it, Steve
  2. Thanks. Are you actually re-reading them? If so, I'm very flattered... *satis* And yes here are the links: AoJT I AoJT II And they are also all in my brickshelf galleries, so if you just click on the "up" links a few times you should be able to find them. Steve
  3. Actually I think Vikings were a form of pirate would be the more correct statement. In this case, it is not a matter of which came first. It is more a matter of the generality of the term. Pirates would be those who steal (for lack of a better term) on the seas. Vikings (to overly simplify it) are Scandanavians, with pointy horned hats, who steal on the seas. Pirates can come from any geographic area (Caribbean, South Pacific, Barbary Coast), but vikings are pretty limited to Northern Europe. Thus, as all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares, vikings are pirates, but pirates are not necessarily vikings. Steve, ever the voice of logic and reason... yeah right :D
  4. Decided that three vignettes weren't enough for today, so I added a new room to my submarine: The Bunk Room, where the sailors can catch up on their 'Z's, in tiny cramped beds. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...arine/bunk1.jpg The whole boat (yes I said boat, submarines are technically boats, not ships) thus far: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...ssvignette1.jpg The whole nautical gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=121836 Steve
  5. I'd like to do some larger stuff too, but right now I don't really have a place where I can keep a longterm larger creation, so vignettes are a way for me to keep building, while at the same time being able to clean up easily. Steve
  6. Hey all, Spent the morning making three vignettes: This one is from a scene in my favorite movie, which I was watching while I was building. Its called "The Floor is On Fire:" http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...orisonfire1.jpg This second one illustrates the dangers of setting up sun-bathing camp too close to the ocean: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...ettes/surf1.jpg And the third one is the funeral (perhaps for the unfornate fellow in the previous vignette): http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...tes/burial1.jpg More images of the floor is on fire and other similar themed vignettes: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=119054 More images of the surfer and the funeral: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=121980 Hope you like them, Steve
  7. I am a pirate fan. I'm kind of glad they went away though, since there is no way I could afford to do Pirates along with Castle (my first Lego love), Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Vikings! I do have most of the Pirate sets, except for a few of the last line, the Imperial Flagship and the Skull-eyed Schooner. Steve
  8. Oh crap! And its so hard to change the text when its embedded as part of the pics. I'm feeling lazy and probably won't change it. Steve
  9. Hey all, My latest vignette project: the U.S.S. Vignette. This will be a series of modular vignettes, which when done should create the interior of an attack submarine. Thus far, it includes: The Torpedo Room: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...orpedoroom1.jpg The Bridge: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...ine/bridge1.jpg And the whole boat this far: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...ssvignette1.jpg The entire gallery (when moderated): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=121836 Hope you like it, Steve
  10. Well I had hoped to have this story finished by now, and be started on a new St. Patrick's Day one, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. (This story is turning out to be a lot longer than I'd anticipated... but then of course it is like two stories in one :), I sure hope it is worth it.) Anyhow, now that I've aired my frustrations with the creative process a bit, I present the next installment: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...ies/kotg021.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...ies/kotg022.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...ies/kotg023.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...ies/kotg024.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...ies/kotg999.jpg The whole gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=116716 Hope you like it, Steve
  11. Can you give us some idea of what minifigs they were? Other than not Star Wars? Were they Castle men? (I hope! I hope! I hope!). I'll post an update of the Northern CA lego stores on Thursday. Steve
  12. Sorry for the long delay with the next installment, but I've hit a patch of real busy-ness with school and a bit of writer's block too. So the story has really stalled. I've been holding these 4 in reserve because I figured this would happen. Anyhow here are the next four scenes (including a first kiss *wub* ). I hope you like them: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...ies/kotg017.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...ies/kotg018.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...ies/kotg019.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...ies/kotg020.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...ies/kotg999.jpg The whole story: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=116716 Steve
  13. It doesn't look very desert-esque to me. I figure its probably just a promotional set and not a new adventurers line... don't want to get my hopes up or my wallet frightened unnecessarily. But if it is a new line, does it look like it is flying over water? Could it be Atlantis? Steve P.S. Where is the smiley face for fingered crossed when you need it?
  14. B-V-10E & B-V-10F Hey all, Two more COPS vignettes- Lawn-Mower Man: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...COPS/mower1.jpg The Climber: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...PS/climber1.jpg The whole COPS gallery (with two more pictures of the new ones): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=119053 Steve
  15. I don't know anything about the technology issues, but if you need a script writer, let me know. :) Steve
  16. Hey! Me too, except mine is $18.5 million (in your face ApophisV!) and its from the Ivory Coast. Sure seems to be a lot of "ghastly car accidents" in Africa. You know, if I was a petroleum magnate in Africa, I'd sure not be getting into any cars. Do all my travelling on zebras and ostriches. Steve
  17. Maybe you'd be interested in going in half on the Tie Collection. I'd like to get the new fighter and maybe a second tie, but sure don't need a third one and another Vader's tie. Steve
  18. Not a bad idea. Be hard to make the demons and spirits though. I was thinking about following up the sins with vignettes showing those who committed them in hell, but think I'll do the 10 Commandments first. Steve
  19. Hey all, I did two more vignettes tonight, one for the sins series and one for COPS. Here they are: The Sin of Avarice (Greed) The COPS have a run in with a streaker The 7 Sins Gallery The COPS Gallery The Whole Gallery Steve
  20. I'd love to get my hands on one of those. Steve
  21. Hey Sarg, Head on over to Classic Castle. Check out the Chat Room. Even if there isn't anyone there when you first come in, hang out for a bit and usually someone will pop in. Or post in the Forums. There is usually a lot of action there, very active members there. Steve, member of the late night chatter brigade: J-CLASS
  22. Hey all, Two more vignettes: (Not really enough to warrant a galore, but I wanted to spice up the title.) This one illustrates the deadly sin of slothfulness (aka laziness): http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...Sins/sloth1.jpg And in this one our COPS come across a relationship that has gone sour: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Vi...PS/breakup1.jpg The updated galleries: COPS: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=119053 7 Sins: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=119052 The whole gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=103910 Steve
  23. Athos

    3 More Vignettes

Thanks for the kind words. I am planning on doing the all seven of the sins, but am not sure how I'm going to do some of them. Envy and rage are going to be difficult. Steve
  24. I can't believe there was not a single vote for Castle! I know that DJ mis-voted, but still the Castle showing is a disgrace. I was torn between Adventurers and Castle, but had to go with Castle because it was my first Lego love. Steve
  25. If its a 10XXX set, that means Lego Direct, right? I seem to remember hearing that Lego Direct cannot have new parts molded. So that seems to rule out a square R2-esque head. I do like the idea of that multi-armed droid. As for the Jawa attraction, I'm interested in them because they will make great monks for us Castle guys. Steve
