  1. Only four? That doesn't seem right. The ship could be good. I'm looking forward, as you all know, to the merpeople set. Cemetary duel could be good too, but will be somewhat ruined by the flesh tones. Wormtail's silver hand could be a good addition though. Sadly, I imagine it will be a lot like that. But hopefully Lego will surprise me, and prove me wrong. Steve
  2. I saw these at work. Had to wait until I got home to post. I think they do deserve the copious use of !!!s. Though I'm not real fond of the monsters so I might have to take back one or two of the !!!s... Anyhow my thoughts: I am so very excited about these! Haven't been this excited about a Lego line, since I saw the Fright Knights sets on a store shelf. Only thing I don't like, like everyone else, is the bionicle monsters. Does anyone know when we'll be seeing these in the stores? My observations about the sets: v. Wolf set: -Nice way to get a fully equiped viking cheap. -Not real keen on the wolf v. Kraken set: -Looks like one of the better ones -Two vikings, three helmets -Nice larger boat -Green snake -Kraken is a decent monster v. Midgard Serpent -Love the long boat -Possibly the best of the line -Snake is ok. Better than some of the others -Tons of shields -Several vikings v. Fafner -Kind of an odd set up for the fortress, is it supposed to be a harbor? -Lots of shields again -Several vikings (including a maiden, perhaps? Or is it just Thor of the Chapped Lips?) -Some euro-armor (on the guy in the left tower) -Light grey spears -What the heck is with that monster? Is Fafner Norse for a bunch of left over megablock thrown together? (Looks like no dragon I've ever seen) -Blechy bionicle accents v. the Nidhogg -Looks ok -Can't see the catapult very well -Don't like the dragon much at all -He must be very good with that catapult if he's going to bring down a dragon with it In general: -Whoo-hoo! -Love the beards -Weapons, could be good. Might be too big. Will have to wait and see -This is a biggie here: the figures look to be generic. None of this same 5 characters in every set nonsense. -Don't like how the monsters are done, but what can you do? All in all: my wallet is going to be hurting Steve
  3. As Darth Vader would say: "Most impressive." Quite an elaborate ambitous project. Steve
  4. The lack of gold coins would be bad. I'm not so much concerned about the lightsaber handles and I have so many of those. Sounds like something Lego would do though, doesn't it? Steve
  5. Well Johnny hasn't been to Atlantis yet... Maybe if the Merfolk turn out good, he may be taking a trip there. That's good to hear. It would also be hard to totally ruin them, except by making them all one piece. Even if the human part was flesh toned, if the fins were made like the leg parts we could always switch them. I'm envisioning something like the color of Watto, as the top half and maybe a sand green or grey fin/legs. Steve
  6. Well here are the last scenes in the story. Hope you liked it. I'd be grateful for comments, so I can improve my work, both building and writing. Is there anything you think I did well and would like to see more of? Anything you think I did poorly and would like to see less of? Here it is: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg37.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg38.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg39.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg40.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg41.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg42.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg43.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg44.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg45.jpg The whole complete story: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=103976 Steve P.S. For anyone who is wondering, I've started planning the next one... actually I'm mentally working on two, can't decide which to do first yet.
  7. I'm really looking forward to the merfolk. I just hope they are done well and aren't ruined by the flesh color. The dragon(s) should be interesting too. Steve
  8. Well all, here is another update. I think it is Part VIII. The story in now complete, and I think it will last two more days if I post my standard four scene updates daily. I might do a double posting tomorrow so I don't have to break up the conclusion. It is actually one scene longer than the Cave of Terror story. So here you go, scenes 33-36: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg33.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg34.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg35.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg36.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg99.jpg The whole thing (thus far), when moderated: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=103976 Hope you like it, Steve
  9. Thanks for the kind words. There isn't a lot of planning really. The hardest part is trying to get the scene set up with a totally brick background, well that and trying to figure out how to get my heroes out of the situations I create for them. I had a hard time with some of both of those here. I'm glad you like it. And you shouldn't have to wait long, the story in complete, and I just have to post it over the next few days. Steve
  10. Very nice. I like all the details. Makes me want a milkshake. Though what is the guy shooting target practice in an ice cream parlor for? ;) I like the line of people waiting out side to get in. Did this guy eat his too fast and get a brain freeze? Steve, who thinks we may be seeing Johnny Thunder in an ice cream parlor before long *satis*
  11. I must be on a roll, but since I am hoping to have the story finished by the time school starts, I decided to up the ante a bit. So, here is a double dose of Johnny Thunder's Adventures: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg25.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg26.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg27.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg28.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg29.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg30.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg31.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg32.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg99.jpg The whole thing (thus far), when moderated: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=103976 Comments are welcome, hope you enjoy it, Steve
  12. How do you mean? As in a drawn comic, like we used to see on FBTB? Or a photo-based comic? Or something totally different from either? Steve
  13. Yes, I know it was quick, but I figured, since I went so long on the last ones, I'd do a double entry for today. Thus, Part VI is now done and ready for viewing. Hope you like it. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg21.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg22.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg23.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg24.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg99.jpg The whole thing (thus far), when moderated: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=103976 Comments are welcome, hope you enjoy it, Steve P.S. The bad links are now fixed...
  14. For those of you still following the Adventures of Johnny Thunder... After another long wait, Part V is done: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg17.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg18.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg19.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg20.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg99.jpg The whole thing (thus far), when moderated: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=103976 Hope you like it, comments are welcome, Steve
  15. Did anyone see this? Found it on the lowlug site, where the Viking pic is from. Looks like a good train. Steve
  16. This looks (as far as I can see from this pic) really cool. Is it minifig scale? Its really hard to tell. It would be awful if it was Jack Stone scale. I'm really excited about this, as I was planning to do a Johnny Thunder adventure involving Vikings, but it will have to wait now. I can't believe we've had to wait so long for these, especially as Lego is from Scandanavia. Sure beats the heck out of KK2. Steve
  17. Good to have the board back up. I didn't realize how much of my Lego hobby was based around internet message boards. Especially the shopping part. Without them, I had to check out Targets, almost every other day to look for deals. Now lets hope fbtb will be back soon. Steve
  18. Ehh, I'm not impressed. Steve
  19. First off: good choice. I just don't get the Bionicle craze at all. And we need more adventurer's MOCs. Just don't go infringing on my AoJT idea ;). OK. I'm still interested in selling, but not right away. I'm actually planning an AoJT that I'll need two of them for. In a few months I should be ready to part with it. Also, another issue I hadn't considered is shipping. Since this is Eurobricks, I bet the shipping would get to be pretty high. Where are you located? I could easily throw in some skulls from my collection. Or there seems to be 3 or 4 in every set now, so they shouldn't be too hard to come by. I'll keep you posted, Steve
  20. Well after eleven days, I've finally got around to doing four more scenes for you... Yes, part IV is now available for your viewing pleasure: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg13.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg14.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg15.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg16.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Ad...sGold/bhg99.jpg And, as usual, the whole gallery (when moderated): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=103976 Hope you like it. Comments are welcome, Steve P.S. For those of you following closely, you'll notice a change in Ms. Shaw. Well I wasn't totally happy with her face. I wanted something more unique and recognizable, and having recently acquired a Deep Freeze Defender, the part of Calliope Shaw will be played by the Ice Planet Babe.
  21. I suspected as much. I had, however, noticed that there seemed to be a little animosity around the forums (or is that fora?). Mostly this came from former members. It just seems like the Lego Community has gotten a little grumpy lately. What with the changes at Lego and all, it seems like a lot of people are not happy as they used to be. I know I am feeling a bit down about the state of Lego too. :( Maybe we can get some kind of a support group together, like what they've gotten for those people who were so upset with our election results? ;)
  22. Apophis, I got the set today. It was missing a few more pieces than the item description indicated >:( . Most are easily substituted with pieces from bricklink or your/my own collection. The ones that I've found missing so far are: one 8 x 6 blue plate (this was included, but was in reality a 10 x 6 plate that someone had cut down! :oo ), three skulls :^^D , two 1 x 4 brown plates. Those were the no big deal pieces, the biggies are Achoo's cape, Gabarro's blue kerchief has been substituted with a black one. And the base plate has a few cracks in it (which have been taped :| ) Still interested? Steve, who is thinking about sending my seller the definition of the word "complete"
