LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Grimmy replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I remember seeing a preview of pics here in Dec but this is an even greater pic! These are awesome and I want to collect them all! They are so kool! With all this new sets coming and going so quickly it can make a Lego Adult Fan spend money like crazy. -
Thanks for the replies and the pictures too! I love seeing pictures as they really put things into perspective. I think I will put my winter Toy shop into a box like you did there and use plastic resealable bags for the loose trees and figs. I hope they bring it back next Christmas so I can build a double decker version. That's a nice shelf area you got there. I have a shelf that I may be able to clean the top off and put some sets on but I notice they get pretty dusty after a while. My niece has plays with the Imperial Flagship and I just rebuild the areas that break like the front and the weaker areas that often break off. Her little friend came over and they had some crazy adventure where all the cannons and weapons taken and locked in the cell lol. Her friend must have just seen Star Wars because I kept hearing that the Pirates had kidnapped Princess Leia and they had to save her. I don't even have any STar Wars Lego sets or minifigs lol. Although I want some. Took me some time to rebuild everything but it's no worry...although when her friend's little brother comes over...watch out! lol He has broken some of her toys accidentally. He takes everything apart I mean EVERYTHING! I think that would be termed as "reducing to rubble" lol the heads, legs, whatever, everything, is taken apart and stuck in the most odd places. Looks like a Lego bomb exploded in the room. He's too little for some of her toys. He is 4. Little kids are adventurers in a new world always exploring curiously.

That is pretty awesome. I love the boxes. I'm glad you let us know that the cowboy was just a statue and the little boy will be going home safely with his new Lego set without worry of being robbed at gunpoint for his Lego set haha. I'm curious as to how much it was. I can't believe it has a strip club in it lol. Did you add that? Seems like it would be wierd to have somehting like that in a Lego store or theme park.

Serious question I've been wanting to ask... All our sets are still assembled. Started around Sep 2009 spent at least $1k U.S. Our favorite: Winter Toy Shop and Imperial Flagship. Yesterday I bought Brickbeard's Bounty (even though I shouldn't have because I'm saving money for a Suzuki GSXR750) I was afraid of it being gone forever as it's been sold out until recently and Pirates is being disco'd. No not the bad 70's stuff, I mean discontinued. My niece really wanted the "Market Village" as so did I, so I got that too. She likes the girl minifigs and the houses in it. We started building it but are done for today. Our moo cows are getting along great by the way. :) Don't know where we will put all these sets. We also got a Valentine heart for $5. The Imperial Flagship is huge and on the shelf as is the Troll Warship which is around as long as the other ship. We also got some other castle sets. What do you do with your small sets, and favs? As a kid, I'd build it, play for a few days, break it up, then build my own creations. But the sets they have now...I'm blown away! The minifigs are especially awesome! I feel at times that I can't bare to take apart any of these sets, especially our 2 favs. But we are running out of room and could use the bricks for building. The only building Legos we have are pick-a-brick large cups and a couple tubs. So we don't have many wheel types or head light bricks, plates, and we definitely don't have enough bricks to make a 16x16 house in one color. Our houses look like rainbow Bright lives there. As a kid though, my houses looked like that as well. Never had enough of one color to make something. I think I'm getting addicted... I was afraid of this after reading the, "How much is your Lego collection worth" thread. I fear I may become one of you lol. I have an interview coming for an apartment too so I gotta make sure I have money for that and a new vehicle. [edit] P/S Specifically, what did you all do with your Winter Toy Ship since the holidays are over? Did you put it in a big box built? Did you break it up and rebox it? Did you sell it or did you just break it up and mixed it in with your other Legos?

That looks like the Nestle Quick bunny! I didn't know they had a Lego version of him. What an awesome minifig and cute moc! I looked it up, what a nice little set he comes in. I always drank Nestle Quick when I was a kid. I remember in Europe when I drank it there it was called NesQuick and eventually here in the US they changed it to NesQuick. :)

Those prizes are awesome! What great gesture of kindness. Those minifigs are great and cute. Congrats to the winners. I see lots of great ones. Some of my faves are the funny one with the elves packing up the sleigh when one elf sees the other elf pulling a small wagon with a huge present that won't fit already on the fully packed sleigh. I love the expression and how he "flips his lid" hahahaha And the Santa Truck is another fav of mine

Thank you Captain Zuloo for the reply and the warning I did some searching trying to find some girl minifigs for my niece to play with the 2 ships and 2 castle sets we have and I was surprised to see that in the Pirates Theme at S@H there is only 4 sets left plus the 2 ships, none of which include any girl pirate figs but includes the admirals daughter which we have since we have the Imperial Flagship. I found this page and those are nice ones. The one on the left appears to be from 6253-1: Shipwreck Hideout The right one is of course from Medieval Market Village which has a couple good girl minifigs, it's a nice set too so I might get it. I've found them on Bricklink so I'll be placing an order after my little miss approves. :) I know that the saying is, "A woman on a ship is bad luck for the crew" but this is a Lego ship and the men aren't as grabby. I wonder if little boys who play with Legos get that much upset when they encounter a female minifig in their set. "Yuck! Cooties! Mooooom, they put a girl Lego person in! Why did you buy me this set! Waaah!" Anyways, kickazz ship Cap'N, permission to come aboard?

That is really awesome! I like reading your posts on the subject as you seem to have the history down. To be honest most of what I know from Pirates and the ships comes from playing a Pirate MMOG by SOE, some movies, and role playing playing a Pirate char in Ultima Online. Did you take the measurements? I love how you put in peoples minifigs. I'm curious, where does that minifig of Cutlis Iz come from? Is the torso from the older Pirate series female minifig? My niece would like that minifig. We could call her Izzy lol. Also, did she change her forum name because it says "Cutlass Iznt" now. One more question since I'm on the subject, on the radio podcast I've always tried to figure out what her name is (I'm from the US and as much as UK & Aussie accents are my fav, I can get confused sometimes) it sounds like "Izzy Kill Martin" but that can't be right is it? If it is right, then who is Martin and why does Izzy want to kill him?

That is just too cute! Love the pics! Nice plane to transport them in too. I want to get at least a few. I love all the sets in Toy Story. So far I have only bought the green army guys set when I was buying my Imperial Flagship. Spent so much money on that set that I couldn't get anymore. I want to get all the Toy Story sets but I'm also saving to put money down on a Suzuki GSXR750

I've never seen a Lego set with a stretched limo. It's nice and a kool set but something that annoys me about these Lego cars and vehicles is that they are thin with a single row of seating. It's weird. A car with a seat and steering wheel in the middle. Me and my niece made the Lego set with SpongeBob that you build the bikini bottom bus and it is the same way. They should make these vehicles wider. I did notice that in my Indiana Jones chase set with the Roles Royce and the black old Mafia truck car vehicle, Lego created a carriage piece that has 2 seats side by side built in. That was nice. They are nice cars in that set.

I wish they had this set in the U.S. Combo packs sound great to me. I like it. Reminds me of the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer character, the Abominable Snow Monster.

It looks great. I never knew that Portugal even had any trains and I'm Portuguese American (Azores, Terceira island) Must be on the mainland in Lisbon AKA Lisboa.

Captain Zuluu The spanker? Is that the guy who does the flogging? Spritsail? Bow sprit? I didn't see any dangling cat heads but I'll have to look more closely. You obviously know your ship terminology very well The ship looks pretty epic from this end but I am not one who is as knowledgable on the subject. I've watched a few good movies and built 2 big Lego ships. The new Imperial Flagship and the Troll Warship. Is the Imperial Flagship the biggest ship that Lego has ever released?

Great review. Nice pictures too. The colors and character, and the many points of articulation look like it would be a great figure for stopmotion animation. Are these pieces newly molded for the Ben 10 series? That would be my only guess as to why it would be this price. I don't know much about Ben 10. I'm a bit confused because on the cartoon channel I've seen cartoon animated commercials of a Ben 10 show but the channel has also showed a live action movie with real people called Ben 10. I asked my niece if she knew what it was and she says it's a cartoon. I looked it up on wikipedia and it describes Ben 10 a kid who has a watch I think it was, which can change him into various things?

ROFL when it comes to food the monkey doesn't like sharing haha Looks good. Finally the imperials came to the rescue. Any longer and the beard would be down to the feet

Same thing happen to my prow. It exploded just carrying it to take pictures. Thanks for the tip I"ll check that out. About gluing, I once did some research and found people saying that if you really really have to, use a crafting glue gun as it is not permanent. (as no-skill recommended) You only need a dot of glue. But better to try reinforcing first. Here's some pictures of our Imperial Flagship. Yes I took the pics in out upstairs rarely used bathroom since it's well lit and white. Perfect for pict taking. This is thee biggest. most expensive. Lego set I have ever built in my life! I love this ship so much! This and the Winter Toy Ship are my fav sets! The Troll Warship was my first Lego ship and this is my second but we also want BrickBeard's Bounty of course! I was surprised to see that my niece was asking to grab it off the shelf before I even told her I was at the Lego store to buy it! ^Here you can see the building being done. I made this pic to send to my niece after the 1st day of building. We finally finished the build after 3 days of visits and 2 weeks. ^I love the girl's expression. Similar minifig as the Queen or Princess in 7079 Drawbridge Defense. Which I still need to get. ^The pipe organ, built by my 6 year old niece. She also put in the chest full of jewels and gold coins as well as the map. She also drew a version of the map on her big art easil! ;) ^Here is 4 panel pic with some close-ups. The jail area is holding BrickBeard. It has a bed too, which he is currently lying on. You can also see a rat is sharing the cell with him. BONUS PIC: Captain Kylie working on the ship while Captain Uncle Jason Grimm supervises I' like to see other's pics of theres. I really liked the thread where people were sposed to post pics of their Winter Toy Shop. We should have one for this.

Wow that is really amazing! When I first saw it, I thought it was another one of the amazing mocs from someone here! It looks like something they would make. With the unique window washer guy hanging on the platform and all. It is really amazing.

Master eBay Auctions thread - post noteworthy auctions here
Grimmy replied to interstellar's topic in LEGO Pirates
It looks like Brickbeard! And someone shoved a USB stick in his but! How incident! Very expensive too! -
This ship is really nice. I checked eBay and saw a couple for bid and a couple buy-it-nows (used) at $120.00 U.S. + shipping charges. I really like that captain minifig, or is that the governor? He sure looks spiffy in his white gloves and his bicorn hat which has a nice elegant white lined top trim and a snowflake logo with a white plume on top of his hat. He looks like a ritzy sailor. The ship is very nice. What are the sails made of? Are they the same paper thin fabric used on today's ships and other things such as capes, tents, and ragtops for vehicles? I really dislike that choice of material Lego uses to represent fabric. I disliked it when I first saw it personally and felt it, only about a month ago or so when I got a used Harry Potter set that had capes on minifigs. Weeks ago me and my niece built the Castle theme Troll Warship which is big and awesome. People in my house over for Christmas were all interested in the ship (as well as the Winter Toy Shop scene by the tree) and kept asking if the sails were paper and rip easily. I really do think it's a poor choice of material. Surprisingly, it fools the eye well in photos. But when you have it in real life view, it seems like a poor excuse for fabric unfortunately. On another note, we are building the new Imperial Flagship at my house. We saw it built on display in the Lego store and it was just giant! Amazing! Callousal! Has Lego ever released a ship that big before? It has around 1600 pieces. I know that in my house, people are going to awe at it, especially after seeing the Troll Warship. It's funny how when average non-Lego people hear of a Lego set, they generally think of a small toy set. But when they see something like these ships or the buildings like the Cafe, Market, Fire House, ETC they are amazed and intrigued.

We are dealing with it. We are sharing our feelings about it. *sniffles a bit and then continues to deal decks of cards quickly for fear of a shootout* *you bully!* j/k lol Let's just blame it on the Illuminati and the New World Order. I like this set. I'm going to buy it because I missed out on the other ones and I like these minifigs. I don't have any Star Wars stuff yet because I like the classic Star Wars movie stuff mostly and I missed out on a lot of it. Though I can still get, and will get, Darth Vader with his ship. I wish I could have gotten the Jabba the Hut set but now it costs a ton. Anyway, I'll grab this when I get to the store. The licensed Star Wars sets are so expensive with less pieces and this is a classic original Star Wars era set.

I was so happy to see this review on the front page. On release in the U.S. this set cost $50. This set has a very special place in my heart as it was my first big Lego set. A few months ago when I came back to Lego (from childhood) I did some research and found lots of pictures from someone else also claiming this as their first big Lego set too. I saved the pictures in my Lego folder. I got this Legoland Castle for Christmas while my brother got a police station. I loved this castle so much! I loved that it split in half and you could open it and sit behind it on the carpet floor while your brother attacked it from the outside. It was really neat. As much as I loved that castle and the horsies though, I absolutely love love loooooove (are you starting to get it yet?) the new Castle theme line with the big Trolls, (which look more like Ogres) the green minifig Trolls (which look like Orcs) and the awesome Dwarf minifigs, along with the crownies with the king that has a chrome or gold crown, the cranky princess, the gold armor knight, the jester with happy face as well as tearful cry expression. The Drawbridge Defense is a great set which has all these crownies for $40. Sold out everywhere. These new sets just have awesome characters and kool builds. My only complaint is that they use those 1 piece panels instead of building walls brick by brick like the first castle, the yellow castle which you linked in your review. But I understand why Lego uses these panels. It helps keep costs down. The sun-faded gray phenomenon The gray bricks on this set always turn from a faded gray to a grayish yellow, which occurs in many grey toys in those years due to the light fading the color. I believe it is the sunlight which faded my gray Super Nintendo and gray Star Wars Millennium Falcon the EXACT same color. From gray, to faded gray, to yellowish gray. I remember years my Super Nintendo sat unused in my entertainment system for many years unmoved. One day I was cleaning and going to closet things I no longer used, I saw that the back of the Super Nintendo was normal gray color, but then the front was a yellowish sun-faded gray and the side where the sun would hit in my room was a faded gray. The other side which was in a dark shadowed area, stayed normal gray color. Something even more funny is that I had these special SNES stickers on the controllers around the buttons on the top face of the controller, and the controller top was a faded gray but after I peeled off the stickers, I saw a perfect gray color in the shape of the sticker that did not fade! lol If you've ever gone to flea markets, you've probably seen lots of old toys that have the sun-faded gray to yellowish gray color.

I don't know what the old one looks like. In the Lego store though, they have Pirates now in the build-a-fig area. The hats have the printing too. If anyone has a comparason picture of the old verse new, I'd be interested in seeing it. We just bought the new Imperial Flagship and it had 2 dresses as well. I've been wanting a female fig like that. I love the double sided printed head where one side has an annoyed look with a sideways lip lol. Cracks me up. I remember someone made a small moc with that kind of minifig when the lady was answering the door at night. I need to get the Castle Drawbridge Defense which has the princess or queen version along with a few other awesome minifigs. But that set has been sold out everywhere.

I think .jpg is good enough too. Most people know how to revise them and if not then their is a nice tutorial on the site here. I found the post listing FAQs and guides to be very helpful.

I've been terribly sick with a cold for days. But today was the day my niece stays over and we've been wanting to go to the Lego shop. Niece grabbed a handful of brown tile plates for the PaB large cup. We got pieces for the community house 30 build. We also got the NEW AWESOMEEEEEeeeeEEeeeee Imperial Flagship! The one built on display really showed how great and huge it is! My niece was amazed! She wanted to carry the box by herself even though it's almost bigger then her lol. Her little head was popping over the box List: Bellville: (In sale bin) food place mate with fairy picture on it. $2.50 Pirates: 10120 Imperial Flagship Toy Story: 7595 Army Men on Patrol 620 Blue Building Plate 32x32 $5 ...and 4 FREE Atlantis Shark Warrior key chains. We spent about $400. They're very kewl. Niece really liked hers. My mother even has one because she also bought a Imperial Flagship. Their was 3 on the shelf but after we left only 1 was there. I imagine they had more in the back. Well that's it. Just wanted to share the fun. Building this should give lots of inspiration for the community build. P/S For the month of February the free thing for that month is a 3 minifig build pack which is great because right now the minifig parts are pirates! They have tons of pirate hats with crossbones too! For some strange reason the new Imperial Flagship's BrickBread doesn't have a skull N'cross bones print on his hat!

Wow! That thing is huge! No, it is MASSIVE! Impressive but what are you going to do with that thing? What do the other people in your house say? You took over the dinner table lol. All sorts of curious questions come to my mind when I see something like this which is not often. I've only seen stuff like this on the Lego TV show which has the interviews with people conventions showing off their huge amazing creations. Is that what you plan to do with yours?
