  1. I just saw that! Yay! Jan 1st is what I've heard. I wonder if it will be sold out and on backorder right away? I still have to get Brickbeard's bounty.
  2. Dang you are pirate pro! :pir-skull: I saw someone mention Master of the Commander the other day so I got that and I liked it. Now I have to put the movies you mentioned on my movies to watch list. I would like a Pirates of the Caribbean line but as some already mentioned, Lego licensed themes cost megabucks for way less parts! Ouch-a-my-oucha they cost a lot! We are going to have to sell our family to buy them! Though someone did have a good point that the licensed themes have great set scenes. I personally like the fictional fantasy pirates then realistic. I like skeletons and ghosts and all sorts of creatures who bump in the night and go boOOOooooo ooOOOooOooo
  3. Poor BrickBeard He must have heard the rumors of Jack Sparrow coming to take over as the new Pirate Captain for the Pirates Theme. Nice lil moc. :) I gotta get me a Brickbeard before he's gone off for good. I think I'll get the set with him in his ship since I'll be getting the good guys ship when it comes out i.e. The Imperial Flagship. BTW I like his name hahaha "BrickBeard" lol Lego always using those...umm...what's the word in this situation, some sort of pun or fun naming...
  4. The movie itself doesn't look like a kids movie to me. I just got the trilogy and I'm halfway through the part 1 where Jack Sparrow is trying to rescue th governor's daughter with some guy who loves her.
  5. Nice review Looks like a fast cop car. I've been wondering how much cheaper are Lego Sets at Cosco normally?
  6. He's half man, half shark, he's...he's...SHARKMAN! Da da da-da da-daaaaa!
  7. I'm guessing he is the one who mines using only machines What's the story on these rock monsters and miners? The commercial and boxes I think say something about the Rock monsters eating the crystals/rocks and I'm guessing they live underground of course. Are their Lego books or something with a story on these? I've heard that Bionicle has DVDs but I've never seen anything on TV so I guess it's only straight to DVD releases?
  8. Ah I see. It does look kool to see them all together like that. It's something different. lol Oh and I made this for Panda9001100 as I couldn't help but giggle wondering what all those droids on the train cars are doing, so I made a picture using panda's picture. I hope that's okay. :)
  9. This thread reminds me of the one that is for all themes and features a ton of Star Wars armies. It's amazing how many of the same minif people have. BTW Why do you all call these Castle good guys "crownies" even though only the kind wears a crown?
  10. I actually have never seen Pirates of the Caribbean but Johnny Depp is an amazingly talented actor and their was a lot of money put into the movie. I do like pirate movies. So I'm going to get the movies now and check them out. I think what people are afraid of is Lego blowing up into the mainstream but that's already happening. I'm betting that Lego does make a Pirates of the Caribbean theme especially since Pirates is supposed to be an evergreen theme.
  11. Those are nice. Have you put any on yet?
  12. I like it! It's interesting and futuristic looking. I like your vids too.
  13. We're having fun opening the Christmas Advent Calendar but would have been great to have th pirates one also. On ebay they are selling for $60 with shipping, so I'm taking a pass on that.
  14. Where are they being taken too?? I'll make sure to stay out of that town! The smaller armies of the same figures are amazing, but the really huge ones are even more unreal. Just to settle my curious mind, how do you all get so many?? Do you purposely go out and buy tons of the minig packs or buy them on ebay? I've seen some pics of peoples sets where they have doubles of Star Wars vehicles. I don't really understand it. It does look neat but what do you do with them? I'm sincerely curiously asking. I'm interested.
  15. That is really neat! Great instructions too. I think I'm going to make this to put near the Christmas tree.
  16. I just found an ad with someone selling this set for $50 new unopened! It's a steal of a deal and I'm surprised it's so cheap. I'm going to meet the guy Dec 9th Wed after he gets of work. It's not even on th official Lego store. On ebay it sells for $90+shipping. I'm a little worried lol. Seems like too good a deal, I'm going to open the box to make sure everything is in there and not resealed. In the area I live you have to be careful. I really love the figures and it will be my first Lego dragon fig. I really want one and it will also be my first Lego boat ever! I love how the reviewer made the figs help build, that was my fave part heeeeheee! I also have the sold ou Castle Dwarf Mines which I got because I love the all the figures. I noticed people sometimes call the green Trolls, Orcs. I would guess it is because they look more like Orcs then Trolls. The big Trolls look more like Ogres. Trolls usually look like ugly tall Elves in this kind of fantasy genre. Something like a green version of the Dobby minifig from Harry Potter theme. I have Dobby which I got off eBay. He has the rubber head.
  17. Those are really nice! Awesome! I have a funny question though, why don't people put a Lego man AKA minifg, inside these vehicles? I know the scale is off but I'd still put one in there for laughs even if you have to hike the seat up
  18. They look neat and remind me of the old Radio Shack solar motor kits. The Radio Shack ones only power a fan so it has virtually no load. Like some have mentioned, knowing Lego, this is going to cost a serious large wad of cash! Poor kids. What parent is going to buy these Mindstorm kits for a kid, very rare. I don't understand why Lego Mindstorm is what it costs. You can get real sensors and micro controller boards for less and with waaaay more memory. The NXT Intelligent Brick here is $145 and one of the reviews says it only has 60KB of memory, I don't understand how this can be possible in these times of technology. It takes 6 AA batteries and doesn't include the rechargeable. I can't make sense of these prices. A while ago I went on a little mission to find out why Legos are so expensive and I did figure out why the regular ones are and in a way, they aren't expensive when you know what goes into making them and how many pieces each set is. But I still cannot understand why Mindstorm costs so much. One may be better off just buying micro controller kits and sensors from the internet as they have many now but you won't get studs on them. Maybe you can glue or bolt on a Lego plate lol. Also, why did Lego go IR with Power Functions rather then RF??
  19. Very kewl. You have some impressive credentials there too! I'm glad you decided to post this here. I wish I could go to that Build your own RC Car workshop but I live in the Boston area. Kind of a coincidence but I was looking for a workshop to gift to my brother and niece. I've actually been trying to think of a design to build a remote control car from Legos using the power functions but it's a bit saddening that Lego went IR instead of RF. I was thinking it would be very simple and easy to mod the Lego Power Functions IR receiver into using Radio Frequency by purchsing one of those $20 mini RC RF cars and using those parts.
  20. Here's is me and my 6 year old niece's Lego Winter Toy Shop. We finished it together last night. I also included a picture with days Dec 1-6 current Advent Calendar which added on well to this set. I love all the pictures people put up. Great thread! I especially liked the one where the person used 2 Winter Toy Shops to make a double decker. I think I am going to print out a sign for the toy shop flag or put a sticker on it. A picture of the Jester's head on one side would be great. I wish I could fit a design on it to make it the FAO Shwartz Toy Store sign. I miss that awesome Toy Store. We had one in Boston with a huge bronze Teddy Bear outside in front of the shop which was perfectly on a corner. No matter how sad you were, once you walked in that toy store, you couldn't help but smile and cheer up! For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, it's the store featured in the movie "Big" starring Tom Hanks which featured the piano in the New York FAQ Shwartz. The Boston one went out of business. The prices were just too expensive and they couldn't compete with big corporate Toy Stores like Toy's R' Us and Walmart.
  21. I don't understand. I thought that post was about black Friday weekend? On the commercial and online it says ends on Dec 5th and said 2 days, so maybe it was meaning 2 days left? And it also says it excludes Star Wars. When you say it is a weekly event do you mean it is going on every week? If so, then why does it say that it ends on Dec 5th? I thought the black Friday weekend thing was different then this.
  22. All the pirates sets sold out. Looks like almost everything sold out online. Hopefully I get a chance to go to the Toy's R' Us in New Hamshire here.
  23. DOH! I was reading all the forum descriptions and I thought this was news and thought the buy sell trade was for people selling Lego online like Ebay and Bricklink. This is the second time I make a post in the wrong place. Their's a lot of forum areas. I'll get it down sooner or later. Thanks for moving it.
  24. On Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) I believe Toy's R'us had this sale. Well they are doing it again today and tomorrow is the last day, Dec 5th. Only difference is that the Star Wars theme is not included. I was sitting down with the TV on off to the side and a commercial came on, I jumped right up! Then I went online to check, and they are doing the deal online with cheap $5 shipping in the US and free shipping after $50. But everything good over $30 is sold out. Some stuff that says in stock ends up being out of stock. I added Medievil Market and it said "this item is in limited availability and the cart has been altered to reflect the stock" and the cart is at 0. They even had LEGO Toy Story Woody's Round Up (7594) for $50 but it's out too! I don't think I can go to Toy's R'us tonight but I can go tomorrow. If anyone goes today, let us know what the stock in store looks like. Seems like Lego is a huge thing now. Anytime there is a sale, people go crazy buying everything up. If you want to buy some decent $16-30 sets they have some still. Everything is going though. And after this post, I'm guessing that all will be gone.
  25. Great review! When I heard about this I too thought it would be a regular cheap hole puncher but it's actually nice looking and has a way to stores the punched out paper and you can see through the clear part underneath to line up the hole. I really like the idea of this set. I could see it doing well in Japan. In the US, I think they would have to aim at the craft hobbies market. It could be big in that area. I don't think it would do well for young boys and I could see a lot of quick judgments like, "How lame it's just paper, who wants to play with paper, I got tons of paper, I want my figures with guns!" I think that Lego could do well to bring this product into stores like Michael's Art stores here in the US. I could see a lot of older ladies who love crafts, getting these. As well as parents with artsy children. My 6 year old niece has put some paper kits together and they were fun but when everything was done and glued that was it. With this, the fun can keep going because you can add on to your creation, take it apart latter. Your turkey and dragon can be taken apart and made into some wild monster RAWR! I really like this idea because it inspires creativity with things other then Legos. Using paper materials, cutting things out, using other art tools like the puncher, is a good thing. It helps motivate problem solving techniques such as figuring out how put this and that together with mixed media. How much does it cost in US dollars? In the US it would have to be a good buy with lots a good amount of paper. I'm sure they will also improve the product as they get more feedback such as perferating the shapes so they can be pushed out. Maybe they can have some sheets perforated then some extra sheets for making anything. That way they learn to use the kit then can cut ones out themselves. How can I buy a set of kits if I wanted one for my niece?
